I've said it so many times on MDL, I'll sound like a broken record but here's me once again. Reading a book, without…
Totally! And the series is an adaptation from the novel so they need to save on time. BUT those bits of context, character interaction (gazes; touches) to me are crucial to understand the characters' blossom of feelings.
But if I didn't read the novel I would be here debating about their differences I would just appreciate the series for what is being presented. My comparison carries no harm as I'm loving the series the way it is. P'Ark did an amazing job. The moment I saw Tong dressed in that "human" white shirt I knew P'Ark slayed on the details. What a smart reference, let me tell you. ππΎππΎππΎ
The series didn't let it clear that time actually passed and Tong was in Mark's for like 1 to 2 weeks...
In the event Tong's scent was exposed to too many vampires Mark feared that he could've been marked (I don't know how this works even from reading the novel). Tong is still in danger but in Mark's house he was safer. Mark decision to let Tong go was made out of pure emotion and empathy. If Mark was still being an emotionless vampire he wouldn't do that.

True!! I'm not disappointed tho, but there're scenes that indeed lack context. People who didn't read the novel don't have an actual ideia of time passing. I also felt that way, it seemed like Tong was in Mark's for only 2 days.
The series has been great so far. I like to dive myself in the characters' fellings and emotions and by doing that I have to detach from the ideia that Gawin is playing as Tong and Joss as Mark. I like to see Tong and Mark as individuals - this is kinda hard as we see so much offscreen content that we start to mix somethings up not in a delulu way, but in a sense that sometimes I cringe with Gawin acting childish and Joss acting in an emotionless robotic demeanor cause I know they aren't like that. Joss and Gawin are giving life to Mark and Tong and they are doing an amazing job.
Sometimes the scenes feel rushed. By reading the novel I could actually connect and immerse in the scenes and in the characters' needs; desires; motives; emotions; feelings and sensations for example: In the gym scene Mark smelling Tong's towel, it was palpable the pain of yearning and craving for more. It felt like time stopped for Mark when he was delighting the aroma of that single piece of cloth, tho he wanted Tong to be that towel instead - his soul (his new human side) begged the forbidden. The writing from the novel despite not being perfect, it was sensible to perceive Mark's needs and desires at that moment. The photography in the series could explore this more with close-up shots. And about Tong, some time passed since he moved to Mark's (1 to 2 weeks can't recall), he felt lonely in that spacious house. Tong isn't used to that as he, in his entire life, was surrounded by people but now he found himself with nothing to do and embarrassed because he didn't want to pass as nosy in a stranger's house. When Tong went to the gym he was searching for company, not to actually exercise. But when he felt like Mark was feeling annoyed by his presence - which wasn't the case -, he ended up feeling rejected. And this is the kind of rejection of someone who's in a completely foreign environment and being forced to be there and leaving with someone who's a threat but also a crush - despite that not being too clear. On that scene it was clear to Tong he wasn't welcomed there. I felt so devasted for Tong while reading the novel, but in the series I didn't feel the same way. I think the series could at least portrait his loneliness with a simple "fast time passing and alone in my bedroom" scene.
Overall, comparing to the novel, the main scenes are there but sometimes those lacked context.
They also said in previous interviews that they didn't do to much workshop - as they like the "freshness" of the scene. Maybe they practiced alo - *cough* *cough* - these allergies are getting me nuts. But who knows how many times the director told them to re-do the kissing scene π .
not Tong wearing a shirt that says human π€£π€£π€£
Also that shirt is white, which reinforces his fragility and vulnerability in the very first moment he lets his guard down by sleeping in the predators den
lol.. did you not see the pilot of only friends dream on? Director said, they said cut 4 times and yet Joss went…
I saw the pilot of OF:DO but I don't get the: "director said cut 4 times and yet Joss went on kissing" was this a bts? When was this? Source? πππ
I won't affirm on that, but from what I saw, and it wasn't much, onscreen (thai) straight couples are more "modest, mindful, and demure" on the kissing π. BL actors are wild, that's one of the reasons I prefer this genre π.
Tong just wanted to cover the eyes but we all know he has a thing for Mark's body so why will he cover the whole…
π€£π€£π€£AHAHAH! No, I have to admit. I fear vampires more than Tong does. Even Mark being a hot gentleman it's not enough to make me not fear for my life π
It was indeed a dream. You can see it bc of the whole scene aura and Tonkla's bed is empty
Yeah!!! You noticed it too!!! My favourite scene from the novel was the gym scene and and I didn't feel the rejection from Tong and the painful yearning from Mark as much as I did in the novel. The phography could be so well explored here, like ππ. In the novel it felt like the time had stop from Mark when smelling the towel. And the feeling of rejection from Tong felt much more to the heart. But in the series this scene was indeed fe rushed.
The scene from the orphanage also felt rushed but thank god they acted it well. In the novel this wasn't well written too
What I lack to see in the series and in the novel is the bond between Tong and Tonkla.
I'm finding it hard to connet emotionally with each episode in the first watch. But I have to admit they're acting it great.
Funny, I had no hopes on Joss being able to kiss onscreen. I wanted to be sure he could work on camera so I saw a couple of kissing scenes from past series he did (it was hard to find) and he didn't deliver much.
But now~~~ my hopes are very high after that kiss from the teaser. >VERY HIGH<. I'm not prepared to be left desapointed.

Tong starts to develop a crush on Mark in the very first moment he saw him. This is totally clear in the first episode. This is also the first time Tong is experiencing these emotions as this is all new to him. He doesn't only have a crush on Mark he also feels threatened by him, so of course he'll show more of a defensive demeanour.

The novel also had rushed up parts.

_
From the FEE:D interview they said they're comfortable looking at each other but Joss gets embarrassed a bit when acting romantic onscreen.
The director knows how to play π
*disappearing into the bushes*
I have to play as a hard to get....
