Still have no idea what this show is going to be about haha...looks like a mix of while you were sleeping/chocolate/just between lovers? Excited regardless!
Have u seen hometown cha cha cha? It's amazing too! U might enjoy summer strike too. Also tastefully yours, legend of the blue sea, business proposal, her private life, because this is my first life and so many more haha...u will definitely find more recs on mdl through google searches as well as tags (try romance/comedy) and even reddit kdrama communities :) there's never a dearth of dramas. Dont give up trying to find more haha! From cdramas if u havent seen hidden love I'd recommend it!
It is so fun to read a good review of someone who is enjoying the drama :) Yeah thats why I like kdramas, they…
Ya this year did have a lot of great dramas. I loved spring fever and can this love be translated and now our universe too. Hopefully the streak continues. I have a great feeling about this year's dramas overall!

Thank you <3 and ya tbh not many dramas I've seen recently have this sort of character work and showing and not feeding us all the info. This show actually seems to respect the audience's intellect and leave some things for interpretation. Kdramas used to do this best back in the day, i'm glad we get shows like this now from time to time tho i wish every show were this way ๐
Okay anyone who isn't watching this show is definitely missing out!! The 4th episode sealed it for me. I was kinda bummed out by the shorter length of episodes from the beginning but it truly is insane how much detail they've been able to add into lesser than 1 hr per episode, details that i don't think even regular length shows bother to have despite all the drag.
Ep 4 was especially full of such moments. And the character writing shows coz this drama isn't afraid to go a bit bold in making their characters say actually "mean" things, especially the ml, instead of making the ml a green flag paper cardboard with no personality other than existing to serve the fl. Here, he messes up, immediately regrets it. He isn't perfect, but his actions reveal his true intentions. The detail of even hyun jin not knowing the baby's sleep changes but taehyung does *chef's kiss*
I especially loved their fight in the ending there, and how the ml says harsh things he doesn't really mean and instead of using that against him, the fl is surprisingly emotionally mature when she reflects on how frightened he must've been to get so triggered in the first place.
And the fl trying her hardest to do her best but still falling short is so relatable, yet at the same time the show doesn't excuse her inability to set boundaries at work or even with herself regarding just how far she can push herself trying to be perfect juggling multiple responsibilities, and even in her personal life and the inevitable consequences of exactly that. I feel like it's also possible that hyun jin is lying to herself that this is about work and wanting to be self reliant when it might also be about impressing her first love (which she was already open about in the previous episode) but then that does raise the question of is impressing a first love more important than standing by the responsibility you willingly took it (even tho there wasn't much of a choice to begin with?) Also the fact that right now she's always apologizing for messing up but her actions don't quite match her words which ends up making her even more frustrating, even though you can tell none of it is intentional, just someone who was handed too much responsibility they never asked for in the first place. Like she says, she's always been the one being taken care of and feeling suffocated by the need to break out of it, and now she's learning in real time just what it takes to actually handle that responsibility and care for someone else.
So many complex conflicting emotions with both the leads and that's exactly the sign of good character work.
Brilliant! I never expected to find this level of depth in a show that seems so lighthearted on the surface.
And not to mention the genuinely funny moments that keep piling up every episode. It's there even in the tiny details.
Like off the top of my head, in the beginning of ep 4, when hyun jin turns on the tap before she uses the toilet coz now she's "aware" of the ml๐ the baby holding a fan to get the ml's hair waving while hyun jin has her romantic daydream of him ๐ and so many more that I might have to rewatch to pick up every one of them haha
The main couple is the definition of a healthy relationship. The way they handled things between them, reaching…
U explained this so well. Exactly what i feel too! In fact the last time i saw such an equal partnership was probably in Happiness and it's not even a romcom! I wish kdrama writers understood that people enjoy these kinda dynamics too. Not just the ml swooping in to save the day for the fl every time while the fl keeps giving the energy of stale toast in return ๐
I've just been passively watching, Was it explained that if there wan an actual affair or not? Or was it just…
It wasn't fully explained but they do show that the parent was a creep who deliberately misunderstood her general compliment to mean interest and kept texting her and then showed up at her apt. But maybe the last episode is where they'll fully go into it?
I loved how they made it a point to show that both the leads have each other's backs through everything but they still allow each other to still have the final say and deal with the situation themselves while supporting them. Just like a real world healthy relationship between two emotionally mature adults! I loved how they didnโt make jaegyu simply swoop in and save the day like a "savior" and wrestle his way through and threaten the media company to stop the article by force (when they totally could have coz jaegyu's physical strength is a big theme with this show anyway!) Instead, the show respects real world legal limitations and simply lets jaegyu do what he can but then just allows him to be a regular partner who stays by their partner's side when they're having a tough day. Big points to them for that.
My only gripe right now is jaegyu wearing those long sleeved shirts ever since bom's mom made him feel bad about his go to tshirts. *cough* i personally miss the view too *cough* ughhh...i wish they don't stick with it coz it feels like he needs to "cover up" and not be his whole true self to be accepted by bom's family
But either way, wow this show just keeps getting better and better and now i'll have to compare every other romcom i see for this year to the standard Spring Fever set!
Is seo in guk doing cameo.. He appeared like only a second in the teaser compared to others?
I don't trust netflix with their trailers anymore...they made can this love be translated look like some low budget forgettable AD in the trailer but the actual drama blew my mind out of the window so there's that...
So they're just going to dump all the 10 eps on march 6th and leave me to figure out the utter chaos it will cause to my schedule, aren't they? ๐ซ ๐ฅน
Also seo in guk has to be like the most secure actor out there to be willing to pair with someone with such an intense fanbase plus all the individual fans from all the other cameos coming up despite being so established...my respect for him just keeps growing with every new project he does ๐
