Wow july 17?! Finally! Thankyouuu netflix! Been wanting to watch it since it was first announced and i was thinking it was scheduled for the second half of the year this whole time...they're really releasing everything in july huh 🥹
I'm usually not about ratings at all because of how biased they r but no way a show as well-made production and performance wise as this show has lower ratings than some of the most mediocre dramas out there with their 8.8+ ratings...y'all have me floored lmao 🫠🤣
I'm not sure why this show is getting so much criticism when so many of the criticisms for this show are usually compliments when it comes to other shows? Feels like forced hate atp...
I for one am genuinely enjoying how none of these characters r black or white simulator green flags but feel like real people with their own moments of flawed judgement, selfishness, self awareness and willingness to grow through adversity. I would gladly take this over 10 more leads with the same old golden retriever green flag template energy with the personality of wet diapers, no offense.
Don't think the FL is leading anyone on either. Her feelings r pretty clear towards the ML. Like the girl couldn't make it anymore obvious from at least ep 2. Smiling at the opposite gender and laughing with them does *not* constitute leading anyone on either. I wish in 2026 at least we can let women just be friendly without being labeled "flirts" and "hunters" for it 🤦♀️
As someone who's also been pretty underwhelmed by lee jae wook's most recent works, Doctor on Edge definitely stands out as a good exception from cast to story to performances. I feel like people are being really unfair with stories like this where the romance isn't centered around one down bad, green flag ML who will move the world around for an FL who doesn't give him even 2% of the same effort. Y'all can go watch the 100s of other dramas with that exact dynamic if that's what you want to watch without raining down unoriginal negativity all over a drama that is trying to find its own ground. Coz fortunately, romance stories can be told in many different ways and I'm glad at least this year, there's been many more reciprocal romance stories with equally invested leads coming out.

Yaa hate when dramas focus on one color too much haha...mo li feels very balanced so far...even the mountain scenes feel very lived in and warm. I wonder who edited this...they did such a good job 🥹
The color grading and frames are so visually striking. Feels like the cdrama production quality has gone up significantly this year. Especially enjoying Mo Li's frames. Not too solemn, but not too animated, fluorescent and bright either. The colors pop just enough to save it from becoming a usual war drama, and brings adequate emotion to feel lived in. Hopefully the rest of the drama and plot holds up too.

It's a common plot. Ex spy/secret agent's family member gets kidnapped and they find them by taking out the bad guys. So many movies with similar themes. Nothing wrong with similar plots as long as the treatment is different

The first 6 eps of when the phone rings was great. Also Happiness. It's a survival thriller tho. Also i guess vincenzo and undercover high school can count.
This show seems to have a lot of fourth wall breaking, preach-heavy moments. Satire usually hits when the message is more subtle and indirect so I do wonder if the ones who truly need these lessons both among students and the adults around them will get the message. But it's also very evident that the makers put a lot of effort into shaping the script to cover all the possible domains of potential criticism beforehand. From public outrage from hypocritical human rights warriors to making sure to mention that they're only after the bad apples among both teachers and students and not all teachers and students are this way, they've done a good job covering all the bases to present a neutral unbiased view on keeping educational rights at the forefront.
Overall, this was a fun watch with a solid theme. Lots of entertaining action choreography with a healthy balance of humor and emotion. The cast including Kim Mu Yeol, Jin Ki Joo, P. O and Lee Sung Min definitely carry the show with their camaraderie. Kim Mu Yeol has charisma for days and the swagger of a believable action hero protagonist, while Jin Ki Joo and the rest of the cast are equally engaging in their roles.
A really fun addition to high school themed revenge dramas! This time with adults delivering the slaps-err-justice!
Ep 1 was amazing! Felt like Taxi Driver's high school bully version. Kim mu yeol has all the aura of a guardian angel hero sent to protect these kids.
In ep 1, a powerful assemblyman who is also the father of a rotten high school bully says, "a father will do anything for his son" but forgot to add "except teach him manners and to not be a little thug." Smh. The audacity of these parents with influence in these shows always baffles me. And the negligent parents of the victims also always gets me too...like what do you mean u don't notice the scars and bruises on your child??
Anyway, this show has a winning setup already. A charismatic protagonist on a mission with some kickass action. I thought the whole show would be focused on one school like the usual high school themed dramas but looks like this will be a case by case drama. I like that and am looking forward to more!
Love a good romance thriller but they're hardly ever made. Can count on my fingers the number of them that do exist, even fewer that were done well. I really hope this has a good mix of action, thrill and romance!
