Omg what a lovely show with such lovable characters. No unnecessary drama (so far at least), the leads actually communicate, resolve misunderstandings, aren't worried about embarrassing themselves in front of each other and actually care for each other the same amount. Like the fl isn't just a piece of pretty cardboard simply taking from the ml until the final episode. Finally feel like I found a decent romcom since maybe business proposal phew 😅

Why does there need to be an explanation tho? He likes her just because. She likes him just because. Besides, clearly he's been attracted to her since they first met and seen how competent she is as a teacher and how she cares for her students. I would much rather they keep it as true to their character than give a long winded dramatic monologue about all the reasons he cares about her

Tbh our universe is her first real romcom as a main lead and this show already has all the formulas for success from an adorable toddler in the main cast to an enemies to lovers arc, cohabitation etc etc...all her previous dramas were either melos or coming of age stuff and those genres don't usually become super popular beyond a certain niche audience

Like the heads were blurred so did she just assume it was wooseok and it was always meant to be siyeol, or it was actually wooseok that she saw? The show doesn't make that clear so i was confused coz i thought it was always siyeol and she just assumed that it was wooseok who becomes famous

Not true at all. I also thought the couple in My Demon had no chemistry (or more chemistry behind the scenes than on the screen at least) and that entire drama is one very obviously manufactured slomo reel. Meanwhile most of the shows where I've felt chemistry were not even romance shows. From Vincenzo to Little Women to The Fiery Priest to Kill It (this one is a perfect comparison point actually coz it has the same hunted being protected kinda vibe as Idol I) to Stranger to Blood Free and so many more shows where romance is far in the backseat...so it's not about how grand the moments r or even that they r exclusively romantic moments, but there's a spark between the characters that is apparent from the beginning. And the thing is there r tiny moments in this show where they do get it right and i see the potential, like when raik takes a milli step closer to sena in one of the earlier eps to tell her he doesn't want to hide anything from her anymore, but it just doesn't hold good enough coz of poor scene construction from weak direction and/or writing. It's not even that sena rightfully shuts down those moments when they do happen coz that push and pull would've created even more chemistry usually.
Like kim jae young himself has acted in more subtle romances like my lovely journey and his chemistry with the fl there is brilliant. So is choi soo young with ji chang wook, another drama that isn't doing anything typically romantic. Call it Love is another drama that has fantastic chemistry in a more subtle setting and so many others coz kdramas usually excel in this thing for me, more than the sweeping obviously romance romances! It just isn't happening here for me tho, coz they just seem to have this awkwardly forced friendship
