I guess I am in the minority here but I don't think this show is 8.9. Way too highly rated.
The best thing about this show is the ML who brought this role to life and then some. I thought he was very charismatic in LLTG previously.
I just could NOT warm up to the FL. She reminded my of angelababy who I just can't like in dramas. The show started really strong and then I lost interest half way and then just wanted to see the end to finish. The Crown prince was useless btw.

Had to force myself to finish this one with a LOT of fast forwarding. The only reason I finished this is because of Zhao Lusi and Li Yuning's and their reunion. It started well and then just turned so so boring. CGI was bad and the ending was even more awful than that. To think I waited for this show.

Great suggestions. Loved Happiness, Princess Royal, WRTW, and Descendants of the Sun.

-Loved the novel and wish the adaption could have followed the novel more closely but surprised by the many negative reviews.
-LOVED LOVED the chemistry btw the actors and wish the drama had focused on that a lot more because they had a lot of scenes after they got together in the novel which the drama didn't show. Whenever they were together I had a HUGE SMILE on my face.
-Yes, the focus on RQ was unnecessary bec no one was watching the drama for him but Li Rong did spend half her life with him even if she always loved PW.
-Chapter 170 of the Novel really explains everything that happened btw the LR and PW and how they both wanted to go back to each other in the first life but just couldn't.
-Here is to hoping ZLH and ZJM cast together again soon!!

I really have to wait until the show is finished because many times the male lead has left and ruined the show for me. See also Miss Scarlett and the Duke

Oh I see thank you for clarifying. I have not watched Sandition as I found out the main actor left after one season and I am not ready to invest in such a show! lol.

Unfortunately the case with many Cdramas when the plot is done but they keep stretching it. I am genuinely puzzled by the ratings for this one

Does anyone know where to read the novel translation? I have only seen up to 10 episodes translated.

Unfortunately all you will get before that are crumbs. She has to get over her other “love” first. That’s why by the time they finally got together I had stopped caring 😂

Depends on what you are watching for....if it's court drama then continue, if it's romance btw leads ...nothing much happens 30 episodes in.

This show is like a piece of Hubba Bubba gum. It starts out delicious and you want to savour it all but pretty soon the enjoyment is gone and you are left with a tasteless blob.
The ML and FL has no plot development until at least 30 episodes. By the time the FL finally bothered to care, I stopped caring.
ML condition made no sense and we were supposed to feel bad and wish for them to get together bec of that?
I am VERY confused by the ratings. This is a 7-7.5 tops. Yan lin and princess were best characters and so was Ding Fe substitute.

Yes underwhelming is the correct word. The main couple was forgotten with so much attentions to the villains and flashbacks over flashbacks was too much.
