The novel isn't that different. It adds quite a few things to the TV show. It is not fully translated yet (until chapter 27). If you are interested in more infos on the novel or anything else KaH-related, you can join the KaH discord server. Also at AO3 there are some very nice fanfics I can recommend.

I also recommend the audio drama. There are only six episodes translated for now but they add like
veeeerrrryyyy much fluffy stuff regarding the two mains. Really nice and a number of the voice actors from the tv show also acted in the audio drama.

Hope you will stick to it until the end. This gem deserves nothing less.

I am reading the novel right now. Very slow though. And I've watched the old tv show from the 1980s (liked it very much). Some months ago after finishing KaH I thought that these characters are in parts similar to the main characters of The Journey to the West. Somehow, while writing the chapter, I wanted to implement The Journey to the West.
