I understand, it's not my favorite read either but lately the producers have been used to doing worse than the original story so I have no particular expectations and I hope they will keep the essence of the novel intact. SWL disappointed me a little on his choice of drama lately but I really liked The Seven Relics of Ill Omen the modern dramas really suit him.

I especially hope that the director of SHINE ON ME will stick to the novel. Because lately, productions take too much liberties with the script, allowing themselves to modify the story by creating sad or open endings in many historical dramas and modern dramas are too shortened and modified.
You're right, the character development wasn't done well, some things went too fast without any concrete explanation, and despite the flashbacks to the past, the connections aren't strong enough. The biggest mistake was turning some important scenes into flashbacks that were too short, instead of making them full episodes from the beginning. This could have allowed the audience to not give up halfway through and feel more connected and understand the plot better. As the episodes progress, the viewers question Qiaoxi's choices instead of understanding them, even though that wasn't the essence of the novel at all! Everything about their childhood, Qiaoxi's life, and her relationship with her uncle is explained from the beginning to avoid inconsistencies. The production cut too much of Qiaoxi's life and removed too many important scenes. When Qiaoxi disappears in the novel, it's immediately clear that it's related to her uncle, but here I don't understand the whole mystery the director wanted to create around Qiaoxi. I like this drama, but if I have to compare it to the novel, it's just too sloppy in many key ways.
I know and it's such a shame, their children and their adolescence were marked by such strong moments and such memorable speeches but the story took another turn which leaves some spectators in incomprehension, Qiaoxi should have had more space during her childhood and adolescence so that some do not feel that Yintao's feelings are one-sided or excessive😭
This brief moment in the novel: Perhaps only Jiang Qiaoxi himself knew what an addictive person he was.
In the past, he had gotten into the habit of pretending to be a person who never smiled, someone who had to lose interest in all happiness and joy from a young age, never envious, never complaining, never competing with his deceased older brother.
But people's thoughts are strange. As Jiang Qiaoxi walked down this street, turning a corner to find a place to smoke, he recalled the first time he truly remembered Lin Yingtao as a little girl. It was because she had asked him, "So, what color do you like?" Even her name, spoken carelessly by her father, which each time provoked a feeling of coldness and resentment in Jiang Qiaoxi, became a "particularly beautiful poem" in Lin Yingtao's heart. Her way of saying it was sweet, lively, with a smile that made him melt.
If there was one addiction Jiang Qiaoxi couldn't quit, it was much more than just cigarettes. Yintao has always been Jiang Qiaoxi's only obsession and bill. I've read comments that talk about Yingtao's embarrassing obsession with Qiaoxi when it's simply love. they don't know but Qiaoxi since his early childhood is the person who really feels obsession for Qile because without Yintao he is only trying to survive in the darkness, because for him all his happiness rests on her so that he can be happy and truly live Yingtao must be in his life. I love their obsession for each other, the story is written in such a way that Yintao understands how much Jiang Qiaoxi loves him and needs her since always that is why she always continued to love him. they got together without having had a Confession and it was so natural because they both knew that they loved each other then one day Qiaoxi said to Yintao; "Cherry, I love you. I think you know it." she didn't even answer because the answer was so obvious.
completely unserious topic. QYY says "Lipstick and heels are essential to woman" Me who has not worn heels…
In the adult world of a woman, makeup and outfit often become an armor and affirm your self-confidence in the eyes of others. When you work in a company, if you don't wear makeup as a woman, you will get comments that you are neglected. Talents and makeup become proof of femininity, maturity, stability and confidence, at least for me, I see it that way. This can also be linked to the type of career chosen.
My question is same where is the female friend from middle school. But I think she is not an important character…
I know, a lot of things were changed or completely ignored, yet they were important elements for me but it's a shame. I see that the opinion on this adaptation is really divided, many people have the impression that something is missing while others still find the story coherent and understand what the director wanted to convey. For me, despite the changes and the rather sloppy part of their childhood, I still like the drama because it remains well executed and rather well balanced, I have the impression that I find certain flaws because I read the novel and I already have a very clear vision of the events which prevents me from enjoying the drama 100%. Oddly enough, I had no problem with The First Frost even though I had read the novel. As a reader of the novel, what do you think of the drama so far?
I knew that his decision to leave would make a bad impression, Jiang Qiaoxi's uncle is very important to him and during his childhood he was the only adult around him to have given him attention and shown him that he cares about his feelings so he shows filial piety towards him. I think that the relationship between his uncle and him will be well explained to be able to calm the viewers even if he should have been introduced in the first episodes. I hope that Qiaoxi's absence will not last too long, because I am looking forward to their moments in Hong Kong. By the way, where is the other girl with whom Yintao became friends when she was in middle school?
I saw a couple of comments not understanding why Lin Qile likes Jiang Qiaoxi. She likes him because they share…
I love your description of Yintao and Qiaoxi's relationship, you totally understood them. [Their relationship is based on trust, shared memories, and quiet support. That’s what makes their love story beautiful and real] I couldn't agree more with your words. 🥰
What Yintao represents to Qiaoxi is her light, her love, her family, and her redemption. Lin Yintao is truly a blessing in Jiang Qiaoxi's life; she has given him hope, care, friendship, and all the love he needs and has always been deprived of because of and by his parents. This drama is truly beautiful.
Yes I remember that when Our Generation finished its publication the author had promoted the sequel by publishing 5 to 10 bonus chapters on the Sequel. After the publication of the sequel I read half of the Novel but I didn't get hooked I gave up on it, because I didn't like the atmosphere despite good writing. I think it was based on Yu Qiao I wasn't really invested.
