The novel was really flat, Ml's backstory was quite interesting but Fl has a very unlikeable temperament some of her confusing actions were very poorly explained and the reasons were not really realistic or logical. I hope there were changes to make the story more vibrant and interesting because the novel was really not remarkable I just felt obligated to finish it. I really like the cast so I have a lot of expectations for this drama. I hope the director will move away a little from the description of Fl in the novel and improve all the negative points by adding substance to her story

I need this drama to come out after watching LLTG and A Journey to Love I became obsessed with Liu Yu Ning's dramas, after The Prisoner of Beauty I still want to see Liu Yu Ning's outstanding performances on screen.

Manman knew the strategic position of Boya and the advantages of owning it, it was his lack of judgment in believing that Wei Shao would not consider keeping Boya under control especially since they were at the beginning of their marriage Wei Shao's behavior could have been much more aggressive towards Boya if he had not fallen under Manman's spell. She wanted to protect Yanzhou at the expense of BZ's safety, She realized at Payi that WS is not the type to sacrifice the people even if he had taken Yanzhou he would not have killed the common people, he would not have certainly not even killed the Qioa family members for Manman. XQ didn't want Yanzhou to change ownership and stay in the hands of her family so that they could all protect themselves from Wei Shao's possible revenge, despite knowing how incompetent the Qiao elders are and how they can lead the city and the people into crisis due to bad decisions and management. XQ never hid being caught between the two fires, her family and her love. XQ agreed to marry Wei Shao because she knew she was more competent thanks to her education to manage political intrigues and Wei Shao, when she knew that her cousin loved BZ, her decision was even firmer. DQ listened to everything XQ told her to do, exposing BZ day and night to the fight and to WS's anger. She went as far as to find XQ to make sure she was safe, and if it was the opposite, tried to persuade her to follow her. XQ helped DQ but with several ideas behind her head for the survival of Yanzhou, that's what I like about Manman, she is strategic and clever. The irony is that if we decide to prioritize the interests of others, we often end up badly and left to our own devices (which is what happened to Manman in episode 30, luckily my daughter is smart). DaQiao's choice was stupid, but it wasn't bad. When the time comes, at least BZ will be by her side. Some people only look at strategic interests because XQ is smart and had a better education than DQ. Some will find DQ's choice stupid and cowardly, but for a woman of her time with a certain type of misogynistic education, it's not surprising. I like XQ because she's smart, cunning, and has a good heart. I understand her choices and I'm completely aware of her actions, just like the other characters, each with their own reasons that we can accept or not. The deer hunt is an important moment because Boya was constantly under attack, and this invitation was a form of help that Da Qiao and Bi Zhi were waiting for to assert their hold on Boya and demonstrate good understanding between the Wei state and Boya to discourage invaders. When Manman tearfully realizes that her cousin is willing to be selfish to protect Bi Zhi who constantly continues to sacrifice himself for her, she realizes that she was wrong because despite her concern for Wei Shao, she hoped that Wei Shao could defend Yanzhou by taking risks instead of taking sides to save Wei Shao. She didn't try to dissuade him from dividing his troops because she was relieved by Wei Shao's choice. She didn't expect Da Qiao's refusal. Fortunately, Manman received a military and political education, which allowed her to break the deadlock. Her heart was constantly torn between her disloyal family and the man who trusts her and gives in to her everything. But Da Qioa, despite her political ignorance, knows that her family is disloyal and that Wei Shao is not totally willing to trust Bi Zhi, so she chose to protect Bi Zhi. She will regret it and Bi Zhi will certainly discuss her decision with her. But I find that it was not a cowardly decision, just stupid, because the reality is that we always try to protect what protects us before helping others. The elders of the Qiao family are incompetent, disloyal and often hesitate to show their support to Manman and Da Qioa, yet Manman sacrifices herself for them and waited for Bi Zhi and Wei Shao to adopt the same behavior. I hope she learned the lesson. Before wanting to save others, she must think about protecting the one who protects her and really helps her.

That's what I like about this adaptation: Wei Shao from the novel was rather angry. He didn't necessarily listen to Manman and didn't take her situation and feelings into account. She always had to be on the lookout for his moods. His character developed, and in the end, he understood, but it was too tedious. Mixing Bi Zhi's and Wei Shao's personalities to create this new character was truly the director's best decision. I also like Manman more in the drama because she has an active role. But the political side and the stakes were really neglected, which is a shame, but you can't have everything.

Wei Shao constantly sent his men to attack Boya but they suffered several defeats because Bi Zhi guarded and firmly led his men, Wei Shao worried about Bi Zhi's growing power and his undeniable qualities as a competent general, Wei Shao fought with Bizhi who easily pushed him back he was angry that the Qiao family could have such a competent person to protect them, so he was rude and sent his men to retrieve Boya without success. Yet Bizhi did not retaliate at all and was ready to give up everything to show his loyalty to the state of Wei he never even spoke badly of Wei Shao. This is not a spoiler because it will not happen in the drama.

I didn't like DaQiao's choice but it wasn't cowardice. Manman was always her grandfather's favorite and was educated by him, he taught her to be strategic and didn't hesitate to indoctrinate her to be ready to sacrifice herself for her family and erase his own mistakes through her. Qioa man wasn't raised as a classic woman, her grandfather raised her as a successor but he always regretted that Manman was a woman. Her cousin, for a woman of her time, only received the type of education that should prioritize her husband and be a housewife. She knows nothing about politics, scheming or strategy, yet she had the strength to protect Bi Zhi. She simply understands that Bi Zhi must constantly fight against neighboring cities without the help of other leaders, all for her own safety. While she was waiting for help from the state of Wei so that Bi Zhi could reassert his hold on Boya, because the fighting to keep Boya was too constant and violent, they were refused. She saw Bi Zhi injured and couldn't bear it. He could die at any moment because of the frequent battles of the invaders from Boya, and she chose not to put him in more danger. She kept Bi Zhi in the dark because she knew he would have supported Qiao Man's choice out of gratitude. Her choice was not intelligent but far from being cowardly she is ready to let the world burn for her man just as Bi Zhi is ready to die to see her happy. She can give her life for Manman but cannot sacrifice Bi Zhi's, in the novel Manman's father said Wei Shao that his daughter was not born to pay her family's debt, and for Da Qioa Bi Zhi was not born to repay Qioa Man's gratuitousness towards her (especially since Manman wanted to use Bi Zhi to protect his city and his family). Manman's love is genuine she is a good person but she does not necessarily care about Bi Zhi's safety, this man is constantly fighting to keep boya and he cannot send other characters to fight for him because he represents security for his men. Manman worries about Wei Shao's survival on a battlefield without certainty, it is the same for her cousin who constantly sees Bi Zhi leaving for combat.

But later, her family took her back and wanted her to abort the baby, but she insisted on keeping her baby and wanted to find Wei Yan's father. She ended up dying in childbirth. There will be a chapter dedicated to the continuation of the first timeline and Bi Zhi was on fire. I don't want to spoil it for you, but this man was so intense. In the end, he certainly did justice to his wife. Even after his settling of scores, he didn't seek power, which proves his greatness. In the drama, Bi Zhi is shown to be so stupid and idiotic, even though he's supposed to be a born general who can tame horses and lead his men brilliantly. Even Wei Shao can't do anything against him. What a shame that the close-knit and strong relationship between the two cousins ​​is ruined, even though she was always grateful to Manman and never disappointed him. Their relationship was so precious, too bad. I still like the drama, but my heart is disappointed with this turn of events.

I really like this drama but they should have respected the source material of Bi Zhi. What a man he was, his love for Manman's cousin and his loyalty to her was out of this world, he was a simple but intelligent and formidable man despite Wei Shao's many offenses he always tried to show her that he was not a threat, he was willing to give up the power he acquired to show his loyalty all this with the support of his wife. Bi Zhi was certainly more skilled in combat and strategy than Wei Shao but he never had ambition he always wanted a quiet and peaceful life with the person he loved. I can't forget that despite his humble birth and lack of education he twice mounted and led an army to fight Wei Shao and he ended up triumphing to bring justice to the misfortune that the person he loved experienced at the hands of Wei Shao. The behavior of warrior, general and person with cold behavior with few words but a loyal generous grateful and sweet heart that he has in the novel impressed me so much he was certainly the most upright and good character in the novel. I noticed that Wei Shao in the drama is a mix of Bi Zhi and Wei Shao and even though the novel is not really respected I really like Manman's story and development but I am deeply disappointed that Bi Zhi and his wife are sacrificed to show Qiao Man's greatness.
