Jiang Ruocheng and Jiang Qiaoxi would have deserved so much more screen time since the first episode their relationship should have even been further developed by the screenwriter because he is Qiaoxi's true friend, all the others are Yingtao's friends but he played the role of friend and parents in Qiaoxi's heart. Qiaoxi is a truly filial person; what Jiang Ruocheng did for him, he will never forget, and he did his duty to him (Qiaoxi's parents have such an incredible son, but they were such bad parents who don't deserve him). He loves Yingtao so much that he simply couldn't drag her into the spiral of misery, suffering, and uncertainty that the future has in store for her; he didn't want to be seen by her in these deplorable circumstances. Jiang Qiaoxi has always known a brilliant Yintao, loved and pampered by her family and friends. He wanted to leave her in this radiant world where she can continue to shine. It was so obvious that he was suffering from having to leave her, for this last meeting he could not bring himself to see her broken in front of him by his words when he knew that his actions would hurt her. None of us are gods or even saints.

He didn't reject Yintao's love, he was ready to let her go because his cousin's situation wasn't optimistic, his life prognosis was engaged and there was a strong chance that he wouldn't recover. He hoped that she wouldn't forget him, that she would keep him in her mind as this brilliant young man with full of hope for the future. Jiang Qiaoxi has always known a bright Yintao loved and pampered by her family and friends, she has never known the true misery associated with a life of uncertainty about the future, he wanted to leave her in the bright world in which she lives. He himself is worn down by difficulties and tested by life feeling the anxiety of perhaps not succeeding in getting back on his feet how could he impose this reality on Yintao, let her see his misery look at him with pity and worry about him when she was only just beginning to live adulthood. He knows Yintao if he had told her everything she would have tried to adapt her life her choices her school options to stay by his side and support him, this girl would have been ready to put her dreams aside for him he knew that Yintao would take time before turning the page but Yingtao was ready to stop talking to him and tried to forget him after their reunion in high school he thought that after having known new horizons he would no longer be as important (because in his heart he thinks he is the one who needs their relationship the most). Qiaoxi's choice to not tell him anything allowed Yintao to continue her life, her studies and discover new things and meet new people. Maybe Yintao continued to question and worry about him but she sincerely avoided putting her life on hold to be with him, especially since at the time he left his situation was even more catastrophic. For me he owes her an apology but this boy has run enough in life he needs understanding and love. He always had to grow up too fast without having the opportunity to enjoy his childhood and adolescence, even his departure into adulthood was trying without the possibility for him to take a break. He doesn't see life in a simple way. Explaining it to her would have had repercussions, and not telling her would have had repercussions as well. He just made the choice that seemed to be the most beneficial for her, even though even he needed support at that time.

Jiang Qiaoxi has no real friends in this drama who actually care about him, everyone else is just Lin Yingtao's friends. They should have developed Qiaoxi's relationship with his uncle because he is his only friend, his father figure and the only other person besides Yingtao who truly understands and supports him. In this drama Jiang Qiaoxi really has nothing for him, only the unconditional love Yintao has for him. for a drama centered on youth he is only a simple extra without real importance in the friendship which links all the other characters

There's too much drama with [Blossom] 😂, but it's true that the title doesn't match the story. His performance in Everlasting Longing was really bad, the script and the lead actress didn't help. Youthful Glory looks like a low-budget drama with a passable script and the actors' performances were a bit... But Song Weilong is one of those actors who has incredible visuals so I always watch what he does 😂

I understand, it's not my favorite read either but lately the producers have been used to doing worse than the original story so I have no particular expectations and I hope they will keep the essence of the novel intact. SWL disappointed me a little on his choice of drama lately but I really liked The Seven Relics of Ill Omen the modern dramas really suit him.

I especially hope that the director of SHINE ON ME will stick to the novel. Because lately, productions take too much liberties with the script, allowing themselves to modify the story by creating sad or open endings in many historical dramas and modern dramas are too shortened and modified.

You're right, the character development wasn't done well, some things went too fast without any concrete explanation, and despite the flashbacks to the past, the connections aren't strong enough. The biggest mistake was turning some important scenes into flashbacks that were too short, instead of making them full episodes from the beginning. This could have allowed the audience to not give up halfway through and feel more connected and understand the plot better. As the episodes progress, the viewers question Qiaoxi's choices instead of understanding them, even though that wasn't the essence of the novel at all! Everything about their childhood, Qiaoxi's life, and her relationship with her uncle is explained from the beginning to avoid inconsistencies. The production cut too much of Qiaoxi's life and removed too many important scenes. When Qiaoxi disappears in the novel, it's immediately clear that it's related to her uncle, but here I don't understand the whole mystery the director wanted to create around Qiaoxi. I like this drama, but if I have to compare it to the novel, it's just too sloppy in many key ways.

I know and it's such a shame, their children and their adolescence were marked by such strong moments and such memorable speeches but the story took another turn which leaves some spectators in incomprehension, Qiaoxi should have had more space during her childhood and adolescence so that some do not feel that Yintao's feelings are one-sided or excessive😭

I love their obsession for each other, the story is written in such a way that Yintao understands how much Jiang Qiaoxi loves him and needs her since always that is why she always continued to love him. they got together without having had a Confession and it was so natural because they both knew that they loved each other then one day Qiaoxi said to Yintao; "Cherry, I love you. I think you know it." she didn't even answer because the answer was so obvious.

When you work in a company, if you don't wear makeup as a woman, you will get comments that you are neglected. I see that the opinion on this adaptation is really divided, many people have the impression that something is missing while others still find the story coherent and understand what the director wanted to convey. For me, despite the changes and the rather sloppy part of their childhood, I still like the drama because it remains well executed and rather well balanced, I have the impression that I find certain flaws because I read the novel and I already have a very clear vision of the events which prevents me from enjoying the drama 100%. Oddly enough, I had no problem with The First Frost even though I had read the novel. As a reader of the novel, what do you think of the drama so far?
