They changed up the story and are dedicating 6-7 eps out of 40 eps in the drama. Quite a different emphasis. Admittedly I am ready to move on, and witness how they stare at each other in awkward silence after they get out of the dream.

But you are right. We are here to enjoy the drama and we should accept the adaptation as-is. I am a little bit biased because I know there are so much more to be covered (or not).

In the book, LSS and YXW don’t look alike. In the drama though…maybe the screen writers are counting on our imaginations? 😑

Have you tried Story of Minglan with Zhao Liying, The Rise of Phoenixes with Ni Ni or Love like the Galaxy with Zhao Lusi? All independent women taking charge of their own destinies, with solid voices. Good chemistry with the respective MLs.

500 years after YXW jumped to her death and sacrificed herself for his redemption. In the book, LSS didn't resemble YXW’s physical appearance - she is a rare beauty out of this world. Initially TTJ schemed to resurrect YXW using LSS’s body as a host for its purity, but that’s before he saw her “past”, realizing the connection. He was crystal clear that YXW didn’t reborn as LSS - the two were the same person.

Whoever did the eyeliner makeup had a steady hand. 🤚

I think the adaptation is a bit rushed due to the 40 episode limitation, a lot of plots and built-ups are lost in translation. At least in the book, she went to the river with XL together. And she went into the Dragon’s dream state herself to follow her sister. XL couldn’t stop her so followed in to protect her. All her actions and her quiet ways have to do with her insecurity and jealousy toward her “reborn” sister, and a secret that she hides. Just know that she loves no one but herself. All will be revealed later on at the end of the human realm arc.

I can’t get over this. The emperor’s little dingy dangly crown is too intricate for his head.
