So I have got to episode 7 and she suddenly starts behaving like a total idiot. It’s really disappointing and I am not sure whether it’s worth continuing…

We only know what happens in the novel; there have been quite a few changes so I wouldn’t rely on what happens in the novel being in the drama series..,

I couldn’t stand the first episode either; I think it’s because they had to shoot the scenes showing that it’s a novel because of censorship rules about reincarnation, time travel etc. But I was persuaded to give it another try and have become addicted to it. I am deeply hoping that iQIYI will offer a package so I can binge watch the last instalments…

But there is attention which is the kiss of death to someone trying to build a career; associating yourself with someone who has a toxic reputation is a sure fire way of acquiring a toxic reputation yourself. And then there is no way back for a young actor; he’s swapped his long term career for a short term benefit. It’s sad, but that’s the reality; if you associate yourself with someone with a long history of abusing others then you have destroyed your own reputation.

I am trying to give WXY the benefit of the doubt; YZ has not confined himself to slandering others. He has a long history of plagiarism and has lost a number of court cases because of it, as well as his misogyny. No actress wants anything to do with him, for very good reasons.
Associating yourself with someone with that sort of track record will destroy your own reputation; if he’s doing it willingly then it’s not going to end well…

Nobody in their right minds wants to be associated with yu zheng; the guy is poison. He has a long history of plagiarism and abusing other actors who refuse point blank to work with him; any young actor is going to lose opportunities if yu zheng is in the picture. I hope for WXY’s sake that this is just YZ’s attempt to climb on the bandwagon and he has no way of getting his hooks in.

No; he didn’t agree to tell her all his plans. He’s got more brains than that. The current arc demonstrates very clearly why he would never agree to share all his plans with her; she isn’t trustworthy. First of all she insisted on presenting a sword without a sheath to a man who was under house arrest for suspected treason and forbidden to have
weapons. Then she visited him in jail while XW was saving his life and ended up running away from the capital, embroiling herself in ZZ’s mission and would have been blown to pieces with everyone else on the mountain if XW hadn’t taken out the guy about to detonate the explosives. She behaved like a spoiled child and gave XW no opportunity to tell her not to behave like a spoiled child. She can’t seem to control herself and ends up endangering others and constantly having to be rescued from the consequences of her own actions. It’s just as well XW has brains because she certainly doesn’t.

The drama isn’t downplaying it at all; quite the contrary. He’s got plans to destroy the people who tormented his mother and his family and he is capable of wiping Ning’er out if she keeps interfering with those plans. In addition she keeps putting herself into danger; without XW she would have been blown to pieces on the mountain. It’s just as well he did turn up; she was behaving like a child who has no idea of just how dangerous the world is.

Yes; he’s really showing his acting chops in this drama. And the lead couple aren’t being sabotaged by the director, which is always helpful 😂

You do seem to have remarkable faith that the script will follow the novel; I think that she is likely to be disappointed if she expects ZZ to respect her if she carries on behaving the way she has been doing. Why should a man like him respond well if she doesn’t take the first possible opportunity to go back to her family? And judging from the way the series is going they are not interested in turning this into a straight romance…

She can’t have learned much if she didn’t grasp that taking off across the country with a man lying about his identity as a spy for the rebels who, in her previous existence, were responsible for her death, is extremely dangerous. She needed XW because otherwise she would have been blown to pieces, but the script writer and the director put in a very pointed example of a woman of character who died heroically trying to save others whilst she behaved like a spoiled child. If you are hoping that the series will turn into a straight romance then I don’t think you are going to be happy with it. On the other hand the general audience is probably more interested and Bai Lu is probably delighted that she’s got something to distract from the horror of her other series.

But when she was reincarnated she said she would learn from her mistakes so that she didn’t end up dead this time around. She seems to have entirely forgotten that and is prepared to endanger people because of her whims; it’s hardly surprising that she is getting deeper and deeper into trouble. Were it not for XW she would be dead along with everyone else on that mountain; she shows no signs of understanding just how dangerous her position is. She’s back to the same old, same old…

There’s dumb and then there’s doing something which will predictably result in the death of people you claim to care for. That action was incredibly self-centred and I haven’t seen anything in her subsequent actions which show that she has changed. If anything she has got worse; she’s incapable of controlling herself because she’s got a childish crush on ZZ. She’s apparently forgotten her good intentions when she was reincarnated; when has she done anything recently that shows she has any interest in anything other than what she wants. At the moment what she wants is ZZ; I doubt that XW is amused by having to exert himself to protect the people he loves so that she can carry on endangering them. With any luck she will grow up before she does irreparable damage.

Publicly giving a sword without a sheath to a man who is under house arrest and forbidden to have weapons is, at best, stupid. If anyone else had done it they would be suspected of working for the family that wants to destroy the Yans and XW would have killed them; she’s lucky that he hasn’t.

He’s going into exile because of her. I must confess to being bewildered by the reactions of some viewers to what is a fascinating story, apparently because they are not interested in anything beyond a simple romance. The script writers and director are more ambitious and I am glad that they are.
By the way; you seem incapable of accepting that someone with a viewpoint other than your own comments on the drama. You are perfectly entitled to your own views but others are also entitled to their own opinions as well.

Why not? The assumption appears to be that all the guys must be as uncritical as Yan Lin is; this isn’t true. Strangely enough it’s possible to love someone while recognising their flaws; that’s what grown-ups do. FL has a lot of growing up to do before she can enter into a worthwhile relationship unless she wants to settle for Yan Lin. And it’s a great deal more interesting this way; not many people want to watch a show which is solely about one person’s love life…

How could he? When was he supposed to explain everything to her? She has been too busy getting the Yans thrown into jail, visiting Yan Lin there and running off with ZZ while XY was having to intercede with the Emperor to save the Yan’s lives, bidding them farewell with music and then sorting out the mess that she had created because she is entirely lacking in self control.
The script writer and director aren’t interested in making a romance; they’re more ambitious and they want to appeal to a much wider audience. They are also interested, I think, in giving the FL some real character development; there’s more to life than who you fall in love with. At the moment FL is behaving like an adolescent girl; I think they’re interested in how she might become a woman. XW is a man, not a boy.
