There’s a push and a pull between those who want the series to be a romance and those who want it to appeal to a wider audience. Certainly the contrast in these last two episodes between her and the female rebel is definitely not flattering, but the script writers and the director have shown her flaws in earlier episodes. I really don’t think that they are interested in providing the sort of romance that many of the commenters here seem to want. They are making it a more compelling story…

Not according to the scriptwriter and the director, and what they want determines the drama. People who want it to be a romance can stick with the novel; the director wants a bigger audience.

Really? Trying to keep as many people alive as possible is worse than getting people killed because all you can think about is yourself and your crush? I think you should bear in mind the fact that audiences as a whole aren’t impressed by a petulant little girl behaving childishly; the script writers and the director highlighted that in the last episodes by contrasting her behaviour with that of the woman who protected her and ZZ, and then fought and died to try to prevent everyone from being blown to pieces. They didn’t do that by accident…

I don’t actually care whether she gets together with XW; it’s a fascinating story and the script writers and director really don’t want to confine their audience to people who want to watch romance. Why should they?

Sadly that doesn’t surprise me; the director is notorious for his long history of plagiarism which is not conducive to confidence in his ethics. Something was very wrong with that production; the cinematography, lighting and costumes were brilliant but the direction was abysmal.

Not when it leads to the death of others. It’s her fault that the Yans were imprisoned and they were saved from death by XW. Had she not insisted on presenting the sword without a sheath to a man forbidden to have weapons the Yans wouldn’t have been imprisoned in the first place, much less threatened with execution. She is incapable of thinking and all she cares about is her wishes. She needs to grow up…

But in MJTY he was a morally grey character; all that hanging around getting drunk in brothels wasn’t exactly a beacon of purity. The problem was that his scenes were hacked to pieces so that the character progression was destroyed by the director; both leading actors were really dismayed by what was finally broadcast by comparison with what was originally filmed. After all, no actor as gifted as ZLH is going to take a role as useless as that…

Really? I don’t recall iQIYI marketing this as being about the FL, and certainly the script writer and the director are not creating it as it being all about the FL. This latest episode in particular is underlining just how much growing up she needs to do before anyone will trust her for more than sitting doing some embroidery. The contrast between her and the woman who went out of her way to protect ZZ and her, and then fought and died to save everyone from being blown to pieces, was very pronounced. Script writers and directors don’t do that by accident; it’s very much a matter of underlining just how immature she is, and how far she has to go before she’s in any way capable of being a worthwhile person. Fortunately for her and everyone else XW is more than capable; he’s extremely intelligent and extremely talented. Plus he’s got combat skills, which poor ZZ lacks; ZZ was rolling around desperately clutching a shield while all hell broke loose. Replacing the shield with her merely underlined the fact that he’s a thinker not a doer; XW is both. The biggest problem that the script writers and the director have is to make it plausible that XW would be in love with her; fortunately there are a fair number of episodes to go in which she might grow up…

It was XW who intervened with the Emperor and saved their lives. It was her who gave the sword without a sheath to a man who was under house arrest and banned from possessing weapons. She consistently behaves stupidly and has no regard for others; everything is about what she wants.

Good grief! If an 18/19 year old behaved like that I would wonder why she appeared to have learned nothing throughout all of her education. She’s old enough to be at university but she’s got a “crush”? That’s incredibly immature and she is endangering people’s lives; what’s worse is that she keeps on doing things over and over again which endanger others but she never seems to learn. It’s deeply depressing; it makes me wonder who is going to die because she has no self control. And it makes the smart female lead tag downright ludicrous…

It would have been more sensible to consider killing her; at least ZZ might be useful.

He got into a physical fight brandishing the sword she had just given him, knowing full well that they were under house arrest and forbidden weapons. Whichever way you look at it she was responsible for dropping them into it, because she never looks beyond what she wants. But glad you enjoyed the heroine in these two episodes 🤩

She was responsible for nearly killing the Yans because of her idiotic gift of a sword without a sheath; XW had to endanger himself and his allies in order to save the Yans from her stupidity. And then, having got the Yans imprisoned she then goes to visit the Yan son in the prison and endangers everyone yet again just because she has no self control and only thinks about herself and what she wants. She is endangering everyone she claims to care about in pursuit of her own desires, just as she did in her first life. It’s made even more obvious in the latest episode by the comparison with the woman who fights and dies in order to save everyone from being blown to pieces. Now that’s a heroine!

Or not. FL is behaving like a 14 year old, to the point where the actress is trying hard not to roll her eyeballs in despair at having to play such an idiot. The novelist seems to be copying Gone With the Wind whilst doing the inevitable fanfic treatment of giving the heroine the most powerful man at the end. The problem is that it’s implausible that XW would want to be with someone that stupid; heaven only knows how they are going to get round that…

But he hasn’t taught her anything. If he had she wouldn’t be lying to him in an effort to make him like her; there’s nothing moral or ethical about pretending to be something you are not in order to hook a man. That’s what she did in order to become the Empress in her first life; it didn’t end well. And by the way, ZZ doesn’t exist purely for her benefit; he’s a human being, not a toy…

No; she got the Yans into jail in the first place- their lives were saved by XW - and then she stupidly visited the jail to see the guy she had presented a sword without a sheath to which is what put him in jail in the first place. Have you even watched the drama at all?
