Thank you! And ouch! Someone should have talked him out of it. It’s a great photoshoot for a model but if he wants people to take him seriously as an actor then he shouldn’t have done this. Nice for his fans but his fans don’t decide what roles he gets…

Er, no. She’s being manipulative because she’s a manipulative person and whilst she’s clever she’s not as clever as she thinks she is. In this lifetime she’s already made mistakes that could have cost her life and she’s made mistakes that could have cost the lives of people she loves. It was incredibly stupid of her to present a sword without a sheath to a man under house arrest for suspected treason; had she thought about what was right for him instead of what she wanted to do she would have recognised that blindingly obvious fact. Yet despite the lessons she is supposed to have learnt from her past life she did it anyway. It was only thanks to XW that the Yans were not tortured to death in prison, and only thanks to XW that they have gone into exile rather than having been executed for the crime of throwing the Imperial edict onto the ground. She is cleverer than most of the people around her, but not clever enough to avoid blindingly obvious mistakes like the sword. And ZZ is never going to be able to safeguard her because he’s too upright and pure to survive in the snake pit of the palace…

And completely unsuitable for her to marry. She’d either walk all over him or spend her life deliberately refraining from walking all over him and they would both be miserable…

I haven’t suggested that everything is male v female. I have pointed out that his behaviour in this encounter is pompous and condescending; archetypal male chauvinist behaviour. You are trying to misrepresent my comments, apparently because you don’t object to the way he behaves. Let’s take it as a simple difference of opinion and leave it at that.

Then why is he accosting someone that he’s not THAT involved with to give her unsolicited advice about how she should run her life? If that’s not male chauvinism then what is?

The problem is that he comes across as incredibly self-satisfied and convinced of his own moral superiority. So much so that he can’t even see that the Empress and her relatives are out to kill the FL; he’s too busy angsting about what a dangerous person the ML is. This is, of course, male chauvinism at its worst; completely ignoring the dangers posed by women because of course they can’t compare with a man…

For some strange reason he doesn’t want her to die. But if you are happy with her dying again then by all means do carry on trying to ensure that he doesn’t keep her alive…

Probably busy killing the bad guy’s guards 😂 but I agree; plausibility sacrificed for dramatic effect. It did work, however. And you are right about the story being intriguing; I utterly loathed the first episode and dropped it but I saw various comments which persuaded me to try again. Binge watched all the available episodes and am hooked…

He’s her worst choice. Her problem is that she is clever, but not as clever as she thinks she is, which is why she ended up dead in the first place. She needs someone very strong to keep her in check, and that is XW.
