I really wander how many times Cheng Yi repeat a scene while shooting because he didn't understand what it was…
Completely different skill sets. Most countries - certainly European ones - don’t have variety shows with games featuring actors from serious dramas. Or even comic ones, for that matter. And any actor who has to repeat a scene five times in this sort of drama because he didn’t understand the script doesn’t last long as an actor; it costs vast amounts of money. Reshoots are usually for technical reasons, though sometimes one of the lead actors starts crying because he has to kill someone he actually likes as a person…

He was a villain anyway 😂Its actually difficult to include villain into your hero team. They even had to make…
He had definite quality time being rescued by and then drinking with LLH!

It's definitely not a clear cut ending, but I love this open ending and I don't think it needs to be as sad or…
Oh, I think there is ample room for many different opinions; it seems to me that the scriptwriter deliberately left us with one last mystery for us to solve with many different pointers, some of them in opposing directions. The mystery is what happened to LLH?

I’m fairly sure that the behaviour of Fox Spirit on the beach at the end is an homage to Sherlock Holmes and the question of what the dog did in the nighttime, or rather didn’t do; in our case it’s Fox Spirit not having his nose down tracking the scent of his disappeared master. He’s looking up instead at his master.

As for the emperor, the easy answer would be to marry the princess to LLH but that wouldn’t please her; if the emperor can’t father a young male heir then in the spirit of c-dramas his best bet would be the discovery of LLH as his long lost son, kidnapped and smuggled out of the palace with the substitution of a stillborn infant by some villain or another. That has to be a better solution than the inevitable civil war which would follow the death of an emperor with no male heir, and since we are told that the emperor is a good emperor he knows this very well. And so does LLH; he might not want to be emperor but he has a sense of duty and he has the charisma which would enable him to do it successfully.

The delight of Lotus Mysterious Casebook is that we can still remain in the spirit of it…

I don’t think we ever saw that as an arms length genuine event, nor that anyone ever said that the flower cured all poisons; the one thing we know about it, beyond its ability to cure Bicha poison, is that it’s very, very dangerous. Nobody would use an antidote which stood a good chance of killing you unless they had no choice. But it’s LLH who has the Royal blood and is therefore the threat to the emperor, not FDB and his father.

And it’s the emperor who has no heir - in Imperial China a woman doesn’t count - which is a good reason for a good emperor to keep LLH alive. Otherwise, why didn’t the emperor have him killed there and then? Much, much safer, given that his master’s wife had already offered to exchange her life for his before she learned that the disciple she took and trained was responsible for all of the deaths we see, and that of her husband before the drama begins…

The only person who says that the Emperor was poisoned with Bichu and that LLH gave the flower to the Emperor is LLH. And LLH is a consummate liar…

Yes; it does suggest that more strongly. One thing interesting me is the red ribbons flowing from his right wrist; is that a call-back to his sword dance?

Oh, he’s got excellent muscles; you can’t move and fight the way he does without them. The difference is in the workouts; some are to develop muscles individually, for example to get a six pack. Others are to develop all of the muscles so that you are equally strong but a lot smoother in appearance. I agree that he has boyish charm but he has extraordinary charisma which is how he can play parts like these; two different characters but equally compelling. Thank you for the link!

I've wrote this so many times here but here we go again😂 In the novel, FDB finds him at the beach but he's…
Apparently in the novel FDB had been friends with him for six years before the action commences which I find a bit weird; clearly a sickly 14? year old boy couldn’t have travelled around with him and it’s difficult to believe that he would not have recognised him from an encounter 4 years earlier. Taken together with the minimal role of DFS in the novel I think the scriptwriters did an excellent job in creating the drama which nailed me to my screen!

Thank you! Yes; I have seen some very strange stuff where “fans” seem more like rival mafia gangs but hadn’t realised that Cheng Yi had been on the receiving end of it. It’s such a great series all round that I very much hope that it gets the credit it deserves in the long run for everyone involved with it. Marvellous production to have on one’s CV, I think 😊

In the novel they find him at the beach but he's gone blind, lost his memory and his right hand is paralyzed and…
Oh, he has a deep connection; it makes sense to me that he remembers subconsciously his meeting. It was a huge event in the life of a sickly child who was transformed by it. His bonding was at a subconscious level but let’s face it: LHH is an amazingly attractive person and I have no difficulty whatsoever in understanding why anyone would fall headlong 😂 So does our other hero but he expresses it differently…

But he doesn’t let go of everything. He’s certainly impulsive and turned in his badge but that is what a hero *should* do in the face of injustice, and he’s all about being a hero. It was never likely that he could step completely away from his family background, much less escape the princess, without dramatic changes. And how did he accompany a travelling doctor whilst being the Young Master, 14 years old at most when the friendship started, of one of the most prestigious families in the Empire. And not recognise the man who only 4 years earlier had completely changed his life? As far as I can tell the novel was a great deal more implausible than the drama, so sticking to the novel’s ending seems bizarre. I remain convinced that the scriptwriters gave us the ambiguous ending to get it past the censors. Who would want to see almost 4 years work lost when they could save it?

But then it would make FDB feel even more of a fool than he already does, and destroy the whole character of LLH that we come to know in the drama. In short, it would be completely different - no three musketeers- and I really can’t imagine Cheng Yi taking the role.
