Thanks for the review. I had this on my radar for 'one of these days' but you just saved me a ton of time. I can't stand amnesia or deception plots that go on and on. Just the thought of enduring ~30 episodes with an amnesiac character makes me want to take deep breaths. I'll pass.
I started this on a total whim last night, thinking I should have a second drama to lessen the impatience of waiting for TPoB episodes. I only meant to watch a couple of episodes, but next thing I knew, it's past 3 AM and I was on ep 7. I didn't think it would be so funny ... I was LOLing late into the night 🤣

I've always liked Xuan Lu and was, at first, happy to see her as FL in Love & Sword, but I felt her acting was poor in the early episodes. I don't think she's suitable for these cutesy-ditzy roles; in L&S, I felt like her acting got better as the character herself became more serious and level-headed. Happy to see her here in TPoB as a shady character.
Our guy is so dense! All this beautiful talk, comparing his spirit to mountains and rivers (I even felt pink stars getting etched on my eyeballs 💞), but response: "You're weird today." 🤣🤣🤣

The drama (as it is now) is very different from the novel, both in terms of characterization and plot. I completed the novel just before starting the drama and, at first, I was really thrown by the differences. I don't see the novel providing any solid answers for what to expect in part two. However, I would still recommend reading the novel, as both the drama and the novel are enjoyable on their own terms. Just be prepared to separate them in your mind; I had to do that to give justice to the drama. Otherwise, I would've found myself doing too much comparison.
Just remember the double was 7.9 at one point and now it’s 8.9
I well remember! For currently airing dramas, I never use the ratings to decide whether to give the drama a try; the ratings are always volatile at the beginning, and sometimes right up to the airing of the last episode the ratings are still fluctuating. The Double had even gone up to a short-lived 9 at one point.
