Ah yes, Hao Chen still holds the prize for the villain I loved to hate the most; I swear he gave me high blood pressure. After L&R, I would be 'afraid' of what type of role LXY would be portraying when I saw him in the support cast of a new drama! I've loved his acting from since I first saw him in Destiny of White Snake (though I was disgusted with how mopey and love-sick they made the character in the end).

Yes! He was a competent subordinate, and added fun and humor to the story.

Why is Yun Que in the main cast? To me, she added nothing significant to the plot and could've been left out entirely with little to no impact on the story. If they really wanted a fifth person for the main cast, they could've simply added Jing Lin (I'm biased - he's my favorite support character 😊).

Thanks for the pointer on the final 5 episodes; I'll navigate to there. I watched fully up to ep 18, and have now skimmed up to mid-22. I always know it's time to bail on a drama when secondary characters start to become more appealing to me than the main couple ... sigh.

Your review, as usual, is on point. Sadly, I dropped this. It's not all that compelling to me and I'm not a fan of these protracted deceptions; frankly, the keep-my-interest engine ran out of steam waiting for the big confrontation. I'll skim to the end to see what becomes of Zi Yu and Shi Xue Ji but I'm officially done with this one.

I watched the drama months so I don't remember much of what happens in which episodes, but he became obsessed with her not long after she got to the capital, maybe within 4 or 5 episodes of her arrival.

I see you were also asking about Yun Zhao's sister - her role is inconsequential and her screen time is very small overall, so need to even waste your time on worrying about her.

She gets to the capital in ep 12. And her sister does not become evil.

Having loved TBoY, I had been considering this one with both anxiety (that it wouldn't be all that good) and anticipation (that it would be as good as TBoY); when I noticed you were watching it, I decided to wait to hear your thoughts. And I'm glad I waited. It doesn't sound like something I want to give priority to watching; more like maybe one day or maybe never.

I'm not a fan of prolonged deceptions and I'm thinking of pausing until she finds out who he is or regains her memory, whichever happens first.
