This is no K-drama, dude. You've already known the censorship regulation very well - each episode only has 40-minute…
"Well just hope that main casts of any our anticipated drama don't have any tax evasion issue." - You said it right! Nowadays, I have lowkey anxiety when waiting for eagerly anticipated dramas to air. In my mind I am like, 'please, please, please, if you're gonna have a scandal, please do it after the drama finishes airing'. This state of mind is too cynical and tiring for entertainment 😔
I haven't been able to settle on anything either. I never got interested in Princess Royal so did not bother to…
Before starting the Marriage of the Di Daughter, I read The Rebirth of the Malicious Empress of Military Lineage, which is by the same author, and there's also a drama planned for this one. The book is long but the story is quite good and the plot is fast-paced (and addictive!). The best thing is that the book is already fully translated.
Doublets, I am dropping Princess Royal for now. FL not calling to me. Sigh. Going to rewatch The Double on Netflix…
I haven't been able to settle on anything either. I never got interested in Princess Royal so did not bother to check it out. I started As Beautiful as You and wholeheartedly watched to ep 9, got bored, and skimmed and skipped my way to ep 25 and it has been on pause for over a week since then. I'm actually now reading The Marriage of the Di Daughter (the novel for The Double) and enjoying both the similarities and differences with the drama. And sometimes I even go back to the drama to compare certain scenes with how they are portrayed in the book 🙈
Suffice it to say I'm still hooked on The Double 😄
I have been reading the novel . I am at chapter 130. and I really can't see how this will get adapted. the FL…
I just finished the novel today and I agree that a lot will have to be changed, especially in terms of the punishment some people got. I also wonder how all of Shen Miao's schemes and the Long Ye arc will fit into a one-season drama. I don't see how 40 episodes can do justice to the book. (And I'm seeing the details showing 36 episodes, which makes me even more doubtful.)
After “suffering” last month obnoxiously waiting for episodes to release each day, I’m finally ready to…
If you're doing a rewatch, I would recommend watching from Netflix if you have access. I generally prefer Viki subs over Netflix subs but Viki seems to have kept much of the subtitling originating from Youku so it's not always the best. For the later episodes (mid-20s or so, IIRC), they seemed to have cleaned up some of it, though. Rewatching via Netflix helped to clarify quite a few instances where I was not satisfied that I was getting the full gist of what was being said.
To me it's bs . In a relationship you most likely make sacrifices and compromises without it it won't sustain…
We obviously have different definitions of what it means to compromise in general and to 'compromise yourself'.
For me, compromising in a relationship means the two of you meet in the middle and find solutions that meet the needs of both of you. That is a good thing.
Compromising yourself, on the other hand, is you making all the adjustments for the other person, with no reciprocity from them. I think this eventually breeds resentment, and what is healthy about that?
Also, while compromise and change are different things, change is sometimes the result of multiple compromises.

"What I suggest you won't do is don't ever change yourself for other[s] ..." - What you say here is, for me, the gist of the quote, so I'm not sure I'm understanding your disagreement.
I don't think he is saying don't ever make sacrifices for others, but rather to never lose sight of the core of who you are - your convictions, values, beliefs, etc. To compromise is to "accept standards that are lower than is desirable", which is what XFF did in her marriage to SYR. She gave up just about everything for him - her family, her possessions, her hobby, and even to some extent her intellectual pursuit. SYR got the benefits of all that she gave up, but what did he give up for her? And don't we know what she got in return for all her compromises?!
Disgusting, all of them. I was wondering if I would have to drop the drama if she stayed working there much longer. Toxic workplaces are a lowkey trigger for me.
I got goosebumps when SYR threw himself out of the wall, but A'Li did not turn back and kept walking.
This scene is one of my absolute favorites in the drama. Earlier, he was crowing that XH was abandoned, but he was the one who was ultimately abandoned, deservedly so.
I've placed SYR on the same shelf with Run Yu (Ashes of Love), characters I dislike intensely but who will continue to bemuse me with their sheer audacity.
The original ending was not a happy one, Wang Xingyue released a clip where Duke Su died in the battle... There…
I too think it's hilarious. Since 'we' weren't satisfied with the HE we did get, they showed us the BE we could've gotten. I'm not mad. Actually, I'll go hug my HE more tightly 😛🙈
(And I'll also go back to lurking and pretending I've moved on from The Double 😅)
This space has been an overwhelmingly positive place to interact and lurk during the exhilarating journey that was The Double. While I prepare for what to watch next, I'm still reliving my favorite parts of this captivating drama while waiting to do a full rewatch after Viki uploads all the episodes. My thanks for all the friendly and insightful discussions ... may we meet again in other dramas 😊
