Your comment reminded me of this tt.https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGduaThQ3/The director is amazing at visual storytelling.
i didn't know the term 'life lens' but i def see it ! i was in the middle episodes of blossom when pursuit of jade started its such a coincidence! and the video u showed reminded how i also loooved the visuals of the double!! they made the actor shine so much compared to his most recent 'jadewind' that i gave up on ...
it's clear the story is more about Chang yu becoming the general than xie zheng, but yeah i hope to see his marquis…
makes total sense! i guessed when i realized she's in the title itself! it's more subtle than 'legend of female general' lol but i find this the best told journey to general yet! especially for a woman! they didn't skip the important moments that made her! ( maybe we are missing a little from her dad's training her)
i am very mitigated with the second couple story, the way it's evolving you almost think they will try a redemption arc but he's so evil! however, what i really love about their story is the water symbolism. it keeps repeating from their past, bathtub, and now again. especially when you juxtapose it with his fire trauma. qian qian associated with water is a great analogy. but what's even more interesting is how i see water as a sign of power for qian qian.
you would think more action now would remove the creative aspect of the cinematography but wow, the reflection of the weapon in the horse's eye!!! 🔥🔥 even the few seconds scene where we see the 'fire lights' of the army across the mountain, gives such brillant contexts and realism!! also the water effects , they didn't shy down on showing it visually, which i was surprised!! it was so well executed! this production is so golden
I hate love triangles and find this one very unnecessary. So I’m a bit disappointed that they went this route.
i think in the very early episodes where the 'mariage' was seen as very temporary i don't remember who allured to li being a match after or something like that... very indirectly of course. if anything, i think the presence of li would be a push for ML to keep his relationship with chang yu...
The bathtub scene with Qi Min and Qianqian was filmed to perfection. It’d have been totally swoon-worthy if…
i think its a very layered scene. because over the soft visuals we had a violent dialogue. i also understand why their past encounter was revealed during this scene, the bathtub vs the pool. water is a symbol for qianqian. in the waters she's using her power. then u have the contrast between the fire (cause of trauma) , water and qianqian . She'll probably figure out a way to break him and take revenge.
Love the drama so far, but one minimum detail, How Chang Yu has not realize she got back her hair ribbon that…
my guess so far is that the scene where she notices and wonders had been cut from the edit... because its hard to believe it wasn't an important symbol
i think he did so much that he was trying to make his project work... what's weirder that the' not sent message'…
i think it was both okay and intentional. intentional because he did not look for a reply or call back... to keep a distance because he was 'trying' to not like her 😂
Very well said! People were complaining about how nothing is happening but they didn't realize the importance…
absoluuutely!! some cdrama take for granted the time we need as viewers to connect with the setting and the characters! i love that this show took its time to build up. the pace and flow of the story is soooo important! they nailed it in this show!
Deng Kai and Snow Kong definitely brought their A game for that scene. Qi Min was so scary. Just like when he…
it took me up to that scene to start being interested in their story . i am annoyed that we only have one 'glimpse' of the past, over and over again and no other information halfway through the show... but we do know she took care of him at some point. the sui are so evil i hope they never become a couple !!
That's true... she maybe shouldn't have realized right away but I assume it's been a couple days since she returned…
i agree with you about the mask, the context was very different. and me too i assumed there was symbolism over this ribbon !! so i stil lthink we'll see it again !
- 2 tiring episodes. Could have condensed them into one by reducing some of the screen time of the village killings.…
i think you're right... it was a bit out of character the delay into which they went looking for her sister, both ML. but i do understand the overwhelming situation for changyu at least! i'm also on the fence about the marquis not even leaving protection knowing sui knew about the fan family... it may be part of the original story in the novel? i think the writing still holds because they had a nice victory against the 'invasion' attempt the first time, but the second time it was catastrophic because the marquis was predicting another city to defend if i'm not mistaken!
Now for the depiction of war, last time I felt this way was when I watched My Dearest. That show and this show…
the mention of the colour grading and the cold tone when she enters the town was so intense, made me realize how everything is thought through in this production! amazing review you got there!
