Okay I watched upto episode 12 (or 24) yesterday, I have to say I hope that Yi Hyun's "evil transformation" doesn't end here. I know many people wanted him to become "good" but for me the conflict inside the character and his longing for revenge were so huge, I don't think he can control it so easily. I'm still convinced that it will backfire sometime and he will become a villain again.
I am impressed with how Yoon Shi Yoon has brought Yi Hyun to life. Such an amazing actor! His character is the…
His character is one of the biggest reasons why I'm watching this show. I'm so curious how he will turn out and if he will lose his humanity and sanity or keep it.
Can't believe both Korean and international audiences are sleeping on this drama! It's not your run off the mill historical drama and hard to lose interest in, especially the characters - they will pull you in. Very enjoyable, at least for me.
Anyone else felt like they rushed Eun Seom's development on episode 4? We didn't see him the whole episode and suddenly he takes action. I wished they showed more scenes with him like how exactly he made those plans, how did he know the location of the leader etc. In fact his three seconds screentime per episode make me feel like he's a supporting character sometimes. Hope next week they focus more on him.
Edit: I know the purpose of those build-up episodes, it's just I feel like there's something happening with our main lead and we just...don't see what? Like I'm missing out on something? idk :/
His versatility is no joke. Like look at his choice of roles in the first half of 2019: In SKY Castle he's an adorable loving father and a precious doctor, in Doctor Prisoner a ruthless killer full of hatred. And he pulled of both roles magnificiently!
I'm only on episode 8 but does Togon redeem himself at some point or something? Seems like a Dynasty version of…
Yes I fully agree, I don't understand why everyone seems to love this character. I just couldn't connect with him at all, mainly because of his unreasonable actions/personality. I guess they love him because they are fans of the actor.

By "redeem" do you mean if he gets any less whiny? If yes nope he doesn't, there will be a point where he starts to be a bit more aware of politics and becomes more brave but the show gives that up too fast. He pretty much cries and whines after Nyang until the end.
Wow people these days are triggered by everything. First of all I wouldn't really call this "mockery". It uses…
Ok you got me there. It wasn't right of me to assume if people should be offended or not. I guess I just wanted to say I don't think it's offensive but I didn't phrase it well and sounded rude, I'm sorry but r that. I guess everyone has to choose it for themselves if they find it too offensive or not, it's not a fact but opinion based. Anways thanks to your detailed post I got to understand yournstance better, I also don't think it's right that the actor playing the Thai guy is actually Korean with darkened skin. I guess I'm just not that sensitive towards these things.
The blatant mockery of the "Thai" in this drama is repulsive. The country recently caught flack for doing "blackface."…

First of all I wouldn't really call this "mockery". It uses Thai stereotypes such as the soft high-pitched voice/accent, the poor family background etc and him having eight or so siblings. It's just stereotyping a certain culture, which is done in many comedy shows (and yes not just SK ones. Just look at Raj from The Big Bang Theory). Also It doesn't actually make fun of him and his culture, I mean the show rather wants to make you feel bad for him. Korea has a lot of illegal Thai workers and like many things in the show it's a social issue is shown in a comedic way. I felt like the show wanted to give an outlook on that.
Plus I won't spoil it for anyone, but in the second half Songssac, the Thai delivery guy makes everyone who bullied him in a racist way regret their deeds. What goes around comes around ;)
That's just my stance on it, feel free to diasgree~ btw if anyone wants to see what true blatant cultural mockery is, then research about the K-Drama "The Man Who Lives To Die". The one where they had woman with hijab wearing bikini ugh.
i hope they do not change the actors for the two next seasons..
Actually they already finished filming all seasons. And the second season is airing right after the first finished (idk why the split lol). Nothing will change.
I'm probably too old for this kind of show, but I'm here for my man Ong Seongwoo <3 Really excited & curious about his acting, he's a multitalented person so it wouldn't surprise me if he's actually a decent actor. Plus he has those distinctive Fantagio visuals~
Also I like the fact it isn't romance but friendship. I feel like the K-Drama world had some amazing slice of life/friendship themed dramas like My Mister for example and I'm all in for themes like that. If it's really a realistic, raw slice of life about youth it could have lots pf potential imo! Anyways excited for this :)
Yoo Ah In's hairstyle in Chicago Typewriter was questionable, but the older hairstyle looked so good on him.Regarding…
Yes he looks really fine in the 20's era but I feel like the modern era one will appear more? I know that my friend dropped it because she couldn't stand the modern Yoo Ah In character (not because of the hair lol) ><
Hum Not really in my opinion. There are a lot of heavy topics (about work of course), more than Chief Kim and…
Thank you so much for answering my question in detail! It doesn't seem like the show I'm looking for atm but it sounds interesting indeed. Might watch if I'm in the mood for something heavy again.
