Why oh why did the writers put so much time and effort into the SML? There must be a behind the scenes explanation…
tbh I agree that it was rather accidental than intended.
I feel like she kinda sensed everyone's tired of the common ML/FL childhood connection trope and inserted a second male lead as an actual childhood connection, kind a like a quirk to make it fresh. Which however was the biggest mistake the writer did. She didn't consider how much spotlight this character would actually "steal" at the end and how much depth the tragic backstory and his overall tragic/wronged role would give him (yes it feels kinda like being wronged to me even if he started the lie). Also KSH as an actor simply is on another level (fight me).
Maybe it's bc I'm a pessimist (I'm team HJP ) but I have like 0,00001% hope that there's a greater reason behind it, I mean it's pretty obvious that NDS is endgame, which makes it hard for me to watch this :/
You shouldn't get curious trust me? i understand rare gems too. There are so many underrated drama. I could recomend…
If you like that kind of old melodrama /makjang and don't mind (or love) some unintended comedy and ridiculousness, then you should check out What Happened In Bali, Sad Love Story and East of Eden. Latter is 50+ eps long but the entertainment is worth it imo XD
Does anyone know a drama with a female lead similar to Seo Dan? Like cold on the outside but also kinda awkward and cute. Would be nice to see more characters like this tbh <3
He really knows how to make audience uncomfortable and to write creepy to the core characters. Especially without using cheap horror tropes such as jumpscares etc.
Phew finally finished & I have to say I don't know how one can watch this drama unironically and think it's a masterpiece. It was one of the most inconsistent and repetitive series I've ever watched. So many plotholes, messily written characters, dumb excuses and cheap cop-outs, fanservice etc. And it basically overused the same formula over 28 episodes: 1. get arrested 2. tortured 3. GAKSITAAAL 4. escape 5. rinse and repeat. Maybe it was great at its time but it didn't age well imo.
However I found some entertainment in watching this for the ridiculously overdramatic scenes and messed-up characters (hi Shunji <3). Otherwise I wouldn't be able to stomach this mess. Overall a massive trainwreck.
I would've liked to see more about the FL overcoming her abuse trauma. There are not many dramas about this topic, if anyone knows some please do recommend!
Imagine writing a series and choosing a two dimensional, plain, dimwitted mary sue as female lead over a smart, sophisticated, calculated, influential and confident woman with potentially intriguing (not just black/white) inner conflicts, background and an interesting fashion sense like Ueno Rie.
Glad that in dramas these days we have gotten more complex characters like Rie that don't fit the mary sue trope, instead of bland excuses for characters like this joke of FL
Not really impressed by this one. While story-wise it had some intriguing mystery ongoing at the beginning, this drama definitely had its fair share of plot conveniences, convenient and questionable practice of law, fake suspense, dumb decisions, filler scenes, spoon-feeding and irritating characters (especially the ML) that dragged it down for me. The addition of two more episodes wasn't needed imo, they just made it draggier. I think I actually enjoyed the "Prison Break" part way more, it had some thrilling moments at least. Although it didn't come without flaws. Still a watchable series, but not the best of its kind imo.
Don't get fooled by the ratings. I think you should watch few episodes and read some reviews. If you want my opinion…
thx, you saved me some time there XD might check out the first few eps when it arrives on my country's Netflix but low priority since there are a lot good dramas airing rn.
Umm so I actually blacklisted this screenwriter bc of Doctors, she just has a very anticlimatic/boring way to write imo. Is this any better than her previous works? Since the ratings are pretty high and I'm tempted watching it for PBG but idk
My exact sentiments! I really don’t want to get into this any deeper, but let me just say how awful I felt after…
Yep, exactly! I luckily watched it with someone else so we could vent to each other everytime something dumb happened, otherwise I don't even know if I would have made it without skipping every non-KJW scene.
There are tons of better crime dramas to watch imo I guess people watched this as gateaway crime/thriller drama? Even Bad Guys is better, which was released 3 years prior to this. But it also doesn't have a hot villain, which is the main priority for most people I guess.
I was in love with this pairing in Page Turner but it was a shame how short that drama was (and barely any romance). So I'm super happy about Ji Soo being the male lead and hope it's confirmed <3
What a sad joke this was. I can't believe this is at 8.6??? If this applies to KJW's acting (which was REALLY good) I can understand. However everything else was an absolute mess:
- Extremely irritating main duo! FL can't act to save her life. ML constantly repeated the same three things that were "you bastard", "i will kill you!" and "i will rip you in pieces!!1". Repetitive and simply annoying. - Mediocre and super predictable plot that feels like a middle school writing project of some 12 year old. Super draggy, also comes with lots of police incompetence - Preachy to the point it made my earls bleed. Yes killing is bad and killers are monsters, I got it. Anything else to say? There was some pretentious/superficial psychological stuff but as I said it felt juvenile and not serious. - How could you unironically write an ending like this?? That could've been straight out of a cheap horror flick.
Really disappointed by this tbh. I need a better crime drama to cleanse my soul after this trainwreck.

I can see why you put Bali on-hold as it's old & hard getting into it but you're missing out on one of the most ummm.....unique drama endings :D
Will check out LMIH although from reading the plot description it sounds a tad bit ridiculous lol

Sucks for everyone that worked on this tbh, especially it looks quite intense judging from the trailer.

I think I might've missed it or they just didn't state it
