I think they are both leaving it open for our interpretation what she would choose and also make people satisfied who wanted 1 of the choices. Also leaving it open if a season 2 would happen. Enough to be able to make another season but also satisfying enough ending to leave it completed.

Yeah that's why in my first post i didnt mention becoming friends. Considering FL life and her opinion on slaves, it seems like they will be at each others throats. I think she will probably be her competition in the pearl industry later in the drama.
But i do find their interaction and chemistry amazing. Would love to see them as besties or sisters in another drama.
