On We Best Love: Fighting Mr. 2nd Mar 5, 2021
Well, it was good. The production, the acting, the music, the tension, the chemistry - I have nothing to complain. The plot is lazy, though. Shi De being like "I'm sorry I let you wait for so long" after not seeing each other for five years, and how he behaved around ShuYi as if they would still be together ...! Of course ShuYi didn't respond well to that behavior. But it amazes me that ShiDe thought he could get away with it. What the hell was he expecting? I liked Sam's acting a lot, but I don't enjoy the ShiDe character. Watching WLB is felt in love with ShuYi. I'm sad to see that the ShuYi from back then doesn't exist anymore. The character I loved so much is gone, most likely forever. I'm sure we will see cute and soft ShuYi in the future, but it will never be the same because of ShiDe's betrayal and the time passed. Both characters felt very different to the point where this could be some kind of alternate universe. They are grown up, I know. But the mood really changed. They messed up the transition between both seasons, that's for sure. They could have done at least a better job with this spin-off. But I like it. It met my expectations.

You see that a genre is reaching its end and running out of creativity, when the genre itself and their fandom became the plot.

Great info about the fight scene. They drank alcohol for real on the set. https://www.instagram.com/p/CL9RQ-SATj0/?igshid=3ir8q8s8mckp
They clearly overdid it. I lately don't enjoy their promotion stuff anymore. Sam looks horrible. I even read the director said something like "If you can't get that scene right, you should stop being an actor." It's a BL series for god’s sake! It's not a story that will change your view on life. They put too much pressure into it. Drinking alcohol on set to evoke the emotions you need in that scene, is ... ugh ... I have no words.

We Best Love - new Taiwan BL drama. It's like 2gether, cute light-hearted fun college story. But with great kisses…
Watch it please on the official site. It's on WeTV and free.

Refresh the page if it's not working (that did the trick for me sometimes!)

Yu answered in a live why Shu Yi felt in love so fast:
"It's because we can only broadcast for 30 minutes" :D

@Fan2Dramas: Shu Yi sprained his ankle. I thought that was a clever move to show us time has passed. This kind of injury needs at least 1-2 weeks to heal. And even after it healed we saw him in the pool and everywhere etc. So I guess lots of time passed.

It was not an ending, more a preview for s2. We will see if it makes sense when s2 airs. I have my doubts too.
Hahaha! Nah, I didn't think the Doc was creepy. And there was no twist. It was pretty obvious from the beginning that they were family. I like the writing in general. Especially the characters are well written. But the plot didn't convince me and I wonder if it will get worse.

I have still some hope, they will fix this, but I have no idea how. It seems the spinoff was done to connect those two seasons. It feels off, though. Many thought the father did something to separate them. I would have liked that better. Bringing in that woman and child ... sigh. I'm not feeling it. Not to mention that this scene was soooo awkward.

I'm so distracted lately ... sigh ... what am I even writing?
Yeah, they released Ep 1&2 of s1 the same day for VIPs, but both episodes were available only hours later on Dailymotion as far as I remember. I pay for VIP because I want to support the series and give them views. But there is no other advantage. Dailymotion is very fast. Sometimes it takes only around two hours, and they upload it in perfect quality.

Well, unfortunately you're right. It seems that Shi De didn't want to share his life with Shu Yi while they were apart, because he wanted to deal with his issues alone, and not bother Shu Yi. It's annoying, but somehow it fits his character. If this spinoff is really part of the story, and they go with this plot, then Shu Yi visits Shi De after a year and then stops contacting him, because he saw him with the girl (I still hope there is more to that scene). A year later (!!) Shi De returns to Taiwan. We don't know yet what happened after that. 3 more years to go.
Sigh ... I still hope this spin-off takes place in an alternate universe. Haha!

Since you're always well-informed about things going on in Taiwan, why didn't they make WBL part of the HIStory series? Every Taiwan BL series I have heard of in the last years was part of this franchise. The writer of WBL worked on HIStory series before and maybe some other people too. From the very beginning I felt like this series didn't get enough attention. The advertisement was almost non-existent. Advertising it as a HIStory series would have boosted the views early on. It doesn't matter anymore, because the series is a big success, and I'm somehow glad they didn't make it a HIStory series, but well ... just wondering.

Did you notice the scene in Ep6 when they kissed and Shi De said that he wants to be the only one for Shu Yi in the rest of his life? He said it in Japanese, and he said he wanted to be the only one in his future (mirai). I think it was the only time when he said a whole sentence in Japanese, and it was a very meaningful moment.

I think they just feel sad about parting with the characters as they really got into character and loved the whole…
I'm well aware that I may appear rather cold and heartless, but young people today are just too spoiled.
"He went through his ups and downs in the past (he was very honest about it in interviews in the past)" - what happened?
When I was at his age my father died one of the most horrible deaths you can imagine after years of chronic disease. It traumatized me for awhile. My family broke apart, I had no job, no money, no future, no friends. Now years later I have a chronic disease myself. I don't remember ever breaking down crying in front of people.
They should learn to appreciate good experiences and good opportunities. Life is short. If s2 will be a success, then s3 is a possibility. So they can work together again. They have formed such a great and loving team, he met Yu who he loves dearly (that's impossible not to see). Not many are that lucky!
As an artist myself who makes a living by writing novels, I know that you can get invested in a character a lot. But then you have to move on and look forward to future projects. You have to evolve and be glad for the experience that leads you on a new path. If the success of this project opens many doors for him - great! Again: not everyone is that lucky.
Still love them and wish them all the best! They are the cutest and really good people <3 Just brace yourself, life is difficult!

Maybe we will learn in s2 why it's important. His father is Japanese. Anyway the actor is half Japanese/Taiwanese and has an accent. It was most likely done to explain the accent.

"I found it slightly annoying after awhile." WHY THE HELL? This is normal for bilingual people, and it was very charming that Shi De talked to him in Japanese occasionally. That shows how someone cares about you when he tries to use your mother tongue.

I appreciate their commitment and said it from the beginning, that this series is so great, because the whole team is hardworking, passionate and talented. But personally I feel they are overdoing it. It's not resonating well with me. I'm here for the cuteness and the fun stuff, not for the tears. Sam is constantly in a bad place lately! I think s2 will be a roller coaster of emotions and maybe then I look differently at the whole situation. Sam said it several times how this character he played had an impact on his life. Really? What do we even know about Shi De at this point? The whole character's description can go like this "He is in love with Shu Yi". I really hope they develop him better in s2. The whole series is just about love, longing for it and being hurt by it for no good reason (in the worst case a lack of communication). If a series wants to touch me emotionally, it needs to be about much more. So I'm really confused why this takes such an emotional toll on them. I know the whole project was a great experience, and they are sad, that's over now. But come on! Again: I wonder about s2. Maybe then I will understand it. But only knowing s1 I think their reactions are exaggerated. Btw: I remember how Plan cried when s2 of LBC was announced. I'm still not over how horrible that season was. Some tears flowing is cute, but especially Sam makes me worried lately. He is completely unable to put himself together.

Honestly, what's the crying all for? Is the series such a big success? Sam is in the business since years. I love the boys, and wish them all the best, but those intense emotions are confusing me a lot lately.
