If I'm getting this right, they will resolve their misunderstanding in the next episode. So they have to work on their relationship for the remaining 4 episodes. I thought they would just drag out the misunderstanding until the very end and then - surprise! - everything is fine. I'm glad they do it differently. Makes the whole series hundred million times more interesting.
I loved the scene too. But, I still can't get past that it used the same old drunk sex rape trope and tried to…
If I'm completely honest, I think the whole scene was incredible well done. And while Sam did a great job, Yu doesn't get enough praise for his acting. Watching Ep1 of S2 I didn't feel their connection anymore. While it was obvious that ShuYi still loves ShiDe, angry and cold ShuYi just felt differently. The character was unrecognizable for me. But in that particular scene in Ep2 I could feel their closeness again. It really impressed me: How they were able to show us so much intimacy so suddenly. And I'm not talking about the kissing and touching. I'm talking about their whole behavior. ShuYi didn't enjoy seeing ShiDe in that kind of state. For the very first time since they met again he was sincere, and showed how much he still cared about ShiDe. I will admit I was pretty fixated on Yu's facial expression in this scene. There is a lot to notice! I was worried they would change the characters and make them more top/bottom, they didn't! The cocky, but emotionally brave ShuYi was back in this Ep and I'm celebrating it. I could feel their special chemistry and their love. There was a lot of emotion, desperation, pain and lust in that scene. This was much more than a top forcing himself on a bottom for the sake of making it edgy or hot.
Look, their acting is so perfect and their chemistry is so fire that at this point the explanation could have…
Same! I hope for s3. Those two have it all: insane chemistry, great and versatile acting skills and no holding back when it comes to skinship and kissing. They don't even need a good plot to make a good series.
Okay ... I have to say it ... Normally if there is some french kissing going on, people zoom in to those scenes, and you have to loook veeeeery carefully to see some tongue - if there is any! It sure wasn't needed here. Haha!
Sorry for not putting the spoiler tag. But who doesn't want to be spoiled about something like that ;P
Sam's acting is beating the hell of many other actors in many dramas I've watched. And kudos to Lin Pei Yu for…
About Sam's acting: I have seen some people discussing the whole issue, that he was drinking before this scene and the director was telling him something like "You should stop being an actor if you can't make this scene work". While I think this is all terrible (and I don't want to elaborate my thoughts), it's also very exaggerated. How many out there have a career and cannot deliver such a scene, and most likely will never have to deliver it? This is really some difficult acting, and he was doing great. They both did great. I liked the cocky ShuYi I missed so much.
"I'm still figuring out what to think." You mean about the scene/the series or about SamYu?
Because when it comes to SamYu ... then, well, it seems Sam is crazy in love with Yu, and it's not working out for him. It's very sad, honestly. I feel like he gave up lately. But he tried, and I wonder if Yu will ever meet someone else who looks at him like Sam does.
I loved the scene too. But, I still can't get past that it used the same old drunk sex rape trope and tried to…
I think they had sex for real. S2 is more mature. It sure looked like they had done it, so why baiting the audience? It's not their first time anyways.

From the preview I thought he would throw him to the couch, get over him and not letting him go until ShuYi was giving in. I thought he would be forceful until the very end. I thought he would be a mess until the very end.
Fortunately, the real scene was less problematic. They put the tension out by taking those ... well, breaks. ShiDe was over him, ShuYi was fighting back, then ShiDe let him go, sat on the other couch. He seemed to have a clear moment. ShuYi could have left. He was pretty chill how he was sitting on the other couch. I was surprised how brave ShuYi appeared. He didn't seem scared at all, rather cocky. It fitted his character, because he is not someone to mess with despite his petite appearance. Later on ShuYi fought back again, but it didn't seem he fought against ShiDe. He rather fought against his own feelings.
I'm not very sensitive when it comes to those scenes. But I can understand when other people don't like it. I just have to admit that I expected MUCH WORSE. I was very surprised how well they handled that "old drunk sex rape trope" (lol).
This was really good from the beginning to the end. I liked the very first scene where ShuYi cried and looked at the broken display on his phone. I liked the talk he had on that roof with ZheYu. I liked that tense scene where they zoomed in on ShiDe and ShuYi's eyes. I liked the talk ShiDe had with his cousin - those two have good buddy-chemistry. And of course I LOVED the couch scene. This was intense and well written. The plot itself is ... whatever. I mean ... a promise? But who cares? Nothing is perfect in this world, but this series comes close to perfection.
They are on fire in this season! No need to be worried anymore. I thought this would be cringy, but it wasn't. I cried. The acting was superb, the emotions intense, and it made me more aroused then I should probably admit. The new kings of BL!
Sam&Yu changed a lot in the last weeks/months. Not only the characters in the series are different, they are different in real life too. Sam was dorky, funny, out-going, protective of Yu and had that beautiful sparkle in his eyes. Yu was shy, awkward, a bit lost and confused. Now Yu is more self-confident, funny, cute and appears much stronger while Sam is looking miserable and dead inside. I don't know what's wrong, but I hope he resolves his issues. Their real life story is sadder than their story in the series.
Ok. The S1 of this "series" was pretty darn good, no inane stereotypes, no active tropes, and a decent beginning…
" ... 15 - 20 years ago, when relationships were treated differently, and there wasn't the access to as much diversity of thought, technology and social media ..." Don't deceive yourself. So many people think we are constantly moving forward to a better and smarter future. We are not. And there sure is no diversity of thought. People lost the ability to think because of social media. That said, the plot was never the strong point of this series.
Watching the preview for ep2 it seems this is getting faster to the point than I thought. More or less everything we have seen in the trailer is in the first 2 episodes.
I mean Shu Yi used to be quite stuckup and arrogant back in school, but at least he treated his best friend a…
ShuYi was arrogant, but innocent. He lost his innocence. What we saw in Ep1 of s2 was a violent guy with a foul mouth. One of his good traits was also how well he treated his friends. The character is unrecognizable. I'm not bothered by it, but they really put those actors in a completely different setting just to write a new story around them. I think it will come together at the end, but it really feels different.
