Is it just me or does the guy who plays Zhang Qi Ling seem gay? More in real life than in the series. He is very delicate and girly. Don't come for me! It's just very rare that I get some gay vibes from actors ...
For real? Nice! I was kinda waiting for the Chinese BL fanbase to pick this up since they should love this sort…
"since they should love this sort of concept" LOL yeah, Chinese love the problematic/toxic stuff ... we know ... the more perverted and psychologically unsettling the better ... no judging ... I enjoy the series too
Honestly, I'm not buying the plot. It's too far-fetched and doesn't make sense at all. But the film making is top-notch. The acting, the chemistry and the tension between the leads is good too. Korea knows how to do it. Even in those small non-mainstream BL series they are not holding back. I wonder why Thai BL is so bad in comparison, and I'm not talking about the plot or acting, more about the film-making. They have issues with the editing, the pace, the background music etc. Watching Korean (BL) you don't even think about commenting on those things. WYEL and Mr. Heart had both lots of plot holes and some issues, but again, the film-making was good. Solid. How we know it from Korea. I'm glad they are finally doing BL, and I must agree with what others said weeks/months ago, Thai BL should learn something and step up their game. I'm so tired of their low budget uninspired soap-operish productions.
The acting was great, the action was great, the twist was great. But the characters and story were lacking. Especially the characters. They didn't explore and develop them at all. I watched the movie and have no idea who those people even were.
Well, that's Korea for you. I think it's depressing that a guy like Heo Hyun Jun is a model and considered "beautiful"…
That's exactly what I mean. Koreans have a rather round face, no double eyelid and a low nose. Apparently they hate this look. They want slimmer faces (that's why they have jaw reduction surgery), double eyelids and a high nose bridge (rhinoplasty). They also tend to starve themselves to archive the slimmer face. I have seen many successful actors with that kind of look. Then you see pictures of them when they were younger, and they look completely different. They look KOREAN/ASIAN! (That's what I meant). Round faces, normal body weight, low nose etc. People then say the actors grew up. You don't change that much by growing up. In other countries are different beauty standard and unusual looking people as models is a trend I have seen lately. They use models with Vitiligo, for example. But what bothers me so much about Korea (and I think China too) that they try to get rid of their natural features to look more "Western" (like with the double eyelid surgery). They want more dimension in their faces. I have nothing against Heo Hyun Jun. I didn't know him until watching this drama. But I saw people talking about him being beautiful and apparently he is a model. Thin, very slim face - not to mention he is very pale. It baffles me how Korea (whole Asia) is obsessed with fair skin. Shouldn't they have more melanin in their bodies (they have dark eyes and dark hair) and therefore having darker skin? They try to force beauty standards on people that they cannot achieve and go against their natural bodies/features. To be fair they are doing something similar in Western countries with the Brazilian Butt lift. They shrink your waist and make you butt big, so you look like Jessica Rabbit. That's also something that you can only archive with surgery. It's not natural.

My whole point was: if guys like Hyun Jun are considered beautiful and work as models, that shows us what kind of beauty standards they are pushing in Korea. Beauty standards that are hard to archive for most Koreans. He sure is rather unusual looking. that's why he is a model in the first place.
Episode 1 is very disturbing, and sick, it's shows how much South Korea suffering from beauty sickness, everything…
Well, that's Korea for you. I think it's depressing that a guy like Heo Hyun Jun is a model and considered "beautiful" when he doesn't look Korean at all. Very unusual features, hollow cheeks, slim face, heavily underweight, double eyelid surgery.
Wow ... is that a thing now? Korean BL? I thought they were just testing out the water with WYEL, but now those series are coming and coming ... nice development ...
Well there’s hope for writing to pick up here? I’m enjoying this show so far. I also agree somewhat with what…
Honestly, I just feel there is a lack of passion. The crime/thriller part is done pretty well. I really appreciate how they show the forensic stuff in such a realistic way. Where this series is lacking, is mostly the characters/actors. I'm 100% convinced that a good TV series needs characters people can root for (or hate them). There must be an emotional reaction. I have none, unfortunately. The reporter is now dead. Who cares? Didn't like that guy, didn't hate him. I liked the actress who played Jane, but do I care who killed her? No. The biggest problem though: Bun and Tan aren't engaging either. It's very rare for me being so indifferent towards characters in a TV series. The sister has no charisma, Inspector M is just a pretty face who cannot act, that Pued guy ... sigh. I don't feel their emotions through the screen at all. But I have still hope ...
