On Where Your Eyes Linger May 28, 2020
Nobody talking about Kang Gook straining Tae Joo's wrist, because he touched his chest? The tension! At this point it's obvious that Kang Gook has a problem with his feeling. I'm just not sure if it is 1) because he thinks Tae Joo does not feel the same, or 2) because he wants to protect him (as a heir of that big company being gay may not be great) or 3) because he thinks he is not worthy (they have a master-servant relationship) or 4) because he himself has a problem with his feelings and doesn't want to accept that he is in love with Tae Joo or a man in general? Who knows. The characters have a lot of potential, though. Tae Joo is flirtatious and playful, but he doesn't seem jealous of the girl. He even hooked Kang Gook up with her. I don't want to get too excited, but the storytelling so far is great and we only saw 20 minutes.

the first two episodes got me all hyped up! I wish each episode would be longer than 10 mins though. I personally…
Its basically a movie cut into 8 parts

That's what I've been thinking. Especially when the father said if anything happens to my son, you'll get hit…
LOL, I had the same thought ...

2pals is much more popular, though.
Mixed race people are perceived as especially beautiful by most.

I think My Engineer isn't so exciting. It starts rather slow and the guys aren't very charming in the beginning. They grew on me with time, though. 2gether started out stronger. The whole fake-boyfriend theme is also very popular, the humor was pretty good. Bright is mixed and that's something that appeals to many people. He gained 4 million subscribers on Instagram. That's insane!

Both suck for me. Two most overrated BL series these two years. That sexual harrassment shit is just another fantasy…
I for once would like to see a good series with high quality and a great story where the main characters happen to be gay. Just that. What we get instead are cheaply done series with cute and good-looking boys who fall in love (for whatever reason) and have some silly problems (mostly insecurity they show by being overly dramatic and jealous). There is no other plot to look forward. Sometimes we get steamy scenes, sometimes not. The end. And now we are all entertained. And this circle will never break. I bet in 10 years from now we get the same stuff recycled over and over again.

It's cute, it's funny, the guys are good looking (it seems everyone is in love with Bright's visuals) ... yeah ... that's it ...

Same! I actually didn’t mind the ending (probably because I’ve watched quite a few dramas with a bad ending…
"Again, putting words on my mouth, aren't you still? LMAO"

Well, you do the same with me. I guess we have both wrong impressions of each other.

People aren't ok with murder, but people like horror movies. People aren't ok with natural disasters, but people…
You must mistaken me for someone else. I never said the word "rape" talking about TharnType. I'm pretty sure that I never used that word on this site. I always praised Sotus for the rather good writing (it had some life lessons I appreciated), but I never liked it. I'm not a Sotus fan, the series was too cute for me. I don't want the fantasy, the opposite is the case. I'm constantly complaining about the cliche storytelling and lack of depth and character development. Everything is too immature and childish. BL is like KPop and I'm too old for it. I want a good story. Cute boys alone aren't doinig it for me.
I like movies like No Regret, Night Flight, Love of Siam, Eternal Summer, Method, Cutter - those aren't typical BL stories (especially the last three). But it doesn't have to be so dark. I enjoyed Boundary Crossing, Together With Me, 2 Moons 2 etc.

Talking about TharnType: If you want to write about heavy psychological themes, then do it right or don't do it at all. Watch Project S The Series. I lately started with Skate Our Souls. There you will find exactly the storytelling I'm talking about. The main character is depressed. The acting, the writing, the cinematography is on a completely different level compared to TharnType. You can find lots of educational value in the series. Compared to that TharnType is your typical gay fantasy. So if you want to write about child abuse, don't sugarcoat it.

Well, I phrased it the wrong way. I rooted for the series and even defended it at the beginning. I wanted to give it a chance so badly. But the emotions portrayed lacked any depth. Type's homophobic behavior is one example. He just wasn't convincing. The writing, the acting, it just ... sigh. I mean, come on! Gulf had to play a very complex character, and he failed. How they handled the abuse ... it wasn't great. The popularity of the series is mostly based on the hot scenes, that's for sure. If I would write a realistic story with a similar plot, it would be dark, sad, depressing, it would make you feel uncomfortable, haunt you in your dreams, but it could also be uplifting with some life lessons. It sure wouldn't be a cute little BL with annoying characters and steamy scenes.
Talking about 2gether: such a mess ... sigh.

TharnType was not meant to show the problematic elements of life. They used the topic of child abuse to make it "hot". Couldn't agree more with PolinaElectric on that. Make a deep and good story about abuse, rape - I will watch it and cry my eyes out (maybe), but don't use it to satisfy some kind of fetish.

This series is solid. All the guys are charming, the couples have an interesting dynamic. Nothing is too cringy, too stupid or too problematic. It reminds me of 2Moons 2 which was the last BL series I enjoyed.

Just my opinion but please read...My Engineer title may sound bad at first but as you keep watching the series…
I saw those scenes you mentioned and I liked them. I really appreciate that they are trying to do something different. This series is pretty solid. It's not all over the place like so many others lately have been, and the characters feel pretty real. They somehow managed to show completely different couples. I mean, every love story is so different, the personalities and dynamics are different. So yeah, this is pretty solid and enjoyable.

I don't agree. I think the name is pretty accurate. From the start this series seems to me a parody of current…
I don't know if it was meant to be a parody. I thought that about Why r u? but I'm not so sure anymore. I guess those cliches are becoming so stupid that they are trying to make fun of it so it's more bearable for actors and viewers LMAO

I wonder why you bring this up now? There is a lack of good writing and good directing in the genre and I don't think this has anything to do with the sexuality of writers/directors. You like a series if it's sensual (which you assume is only possible if the director/writer is gay), I like a series if it's well written. 2gether was not. If it's well written AND sensual - even better. I'm a big fan of great love scenes. But I'm not only looking for that. You on the other hand will enjoy a series even if it's badly written because you only look for sensuality and intimacy and how it's portrayed. That's the difference between us. I for example dropped TharnType and Why r u? because the story was bad, even though the intimacy and the love scenes were great.
