You really think in some years people are talking about the great series called "My Engineer"? Stupid. I'm not mad because I almost missed this series, I'm mad because of the bad name and the rather dull first episode. They shot themselves in the foot. And that bad cover on this site? Don't get me started ...

I'm so mad at this series. "My Engineer"? Who was thinking it's a good idea calling a series "My Engineer"? As if there aren't enough gay engineer series out there! And that first part of the first episode was rather cringy. "I saved you from a lizard", yeah. I just couldn't get over that stupid name and that stupid beginning and that's why I never watched it. But now I am at ep 4 and it blows my mind how solid and enjoyable this is. I like all 6 guys (that never happened before), they are all charming in their own way and I really appreciate that we see more of their lives. There are scenes with parents, siblings, friends etc. Don't know if it will go downhill (I lost all my trust in BL) but this is very nice. The filming, the acting, the pace, the music - there is really nothing to complain about. But well, they should have decided for a better name! And make a better first episode so people will get hooked!

I think the chemistry was great at the beginning. Their interactions felt rather natural and not as cringey as in some other BLs. The romantic spark was missing but that made it exciting. We were all hoping for the slow development of a great love story. Unfortunately the love story ended when those two became a couple.

I guess that's the reason why they care more about casting cute boys than about hiring a good writer and director.

OH MY GOD! Now I watched it! I didn't want to but after so many people talked about it. That high-five was HILARIOUS. I'm not even mad about it. I have tears of laughter in my eyes.

Does anybody know what Gmmtv is planning with Bright and Win? After I got over my disappointment I feel like giving them a second chance with a new series. Could be interesting. Or not. I don't want a season 2, though. I have seen Bright has 3,8m followers on Instagram. That's just crazy ... I cannot imagine that they don't take advantage of his popularity.

Honestly, I think it's not evolving at all. I also thought those series would get better with time because of the international fan support (don't know how much they gain from that, though), but it's not happening. 2gether is such a good example. There was so much potential and they wasted it. They could have told a nice and warm love story between two very different characters. They could have shown us how those characters grow and overcome hardships. What we got were repetitive and childish jealousy plots, love rivals, lots of misunderstandings and two main characters who don't even behave like lovers. Sigh. The storytelling wasn't good and/or mature. This was just so ... argh.
Talking about Why r u? I dropped it because the characters had no personality. There was no story. I don't know ... very frustrating. But the chemistry and love scenes were nice. Unfortunately that's not enough for me to keep watching. I want to feel some excitement and that's only happening if there is a good story with good characters. Many viewers only want some boy-boy-action, so they give it such a high rating. That's also a reason why I think the genre is not evolving. We have silly rom-coms without any steamy scenes and on the other hand some softporn without any story. They should really look for better writers but I feel like the bad writing is somehow intentional. Probably deep and mature writing wouldn't appeal to the majority of BL fans.

Well, I rated 2gether with a solid 5, lol. Of course Trapped was better. I rated it with 8,5, but it was still a mess.

I honestly don't care what kind of affection is displayed or how much is displayed. I just want it to feel NATURAL and I want a series to be WELL WRITTEN. That's it. Couples like in TharnType and Why r u? have good chemistry and good kissing/sex scenes, but the stories and personalities aren't great/likeable. Still people go crazy over them. I mean ... seriously ... what is this even about? Most of BL fans are rather young heterosexual women who think two boys being together is "cute". There is nothing cute about anal sex, just saying. The whole genre has a problem, the fandom has a problem. This never was and never will be about the realistic representation of LGBT couples. This isn't even about a realistic portrayal of any kind of love story (who has such silly problems like Wat and Tine?). We have either smut (Thrantype, Why r u?) or very soft stuff (DBK, 2gether). But all of them lack any depths and are mostly cheesy and romanticized. To complain about the lack of affection and saying it's homophobic will lead to more smut stuff. Great. We should rather complain about the lack of good writing. I feel like there is no intention to produce good stories. It's just about making money with good looking guys. It's like Kpop.

But the series itself are like Kpop. This is just about cute boys doing cute things. About pleasing an audience with storylines that could be produced by a computer. Like Kpop is only about cute boys who do cute dancing and singing with the same boring melodies. The BL genre is very restricted. It always follows the same genre rules. It's made for a very young and easy to impress audience who is not interested in good storytelling but in seeing cute boys doing cute things.

The people on this site are very critical and it's very, very rare that they don't complain about a series. 2gether was one of those very rare cases. I remember that at the beginning 99% were praising it and writing positive comments. But the series went downhill somewhere in the middle. I mean, you can love it for the the cute boys etc., but the storytelling was atrocious and the chemistry got lost along the way.

I didn't watch Right and Wrong unfortunately, but I heard good things about it. So maybe it's the best HIStory series ever made.

They said in interviews their workshops were more like playing soccer or eating together. I always had the impression that Bright is rather hard to approach and Win is new in the business ... so ... I guess it was difficult for them to get close, and they needed more time compared to other couples which unfortunately they didn't get.

The cops were portrayed like a bunch of kids and the story didn't "flow" right. I rewatched it twice to understand the whole mafia plot and can say it wasn't done very well. They had a lot of unnecessary cliche BL scenes and silly humor in the first half and later on only drama. It wasn't balanced out AT ALL. The relationship also changed in the second half. The characters became rather one-dimensional. It felt like there were two different writers. When I think about a well written HIStory series Boundary Crossing comes to my mind. It wasn't that complex or new and it was rather rushed and unfinished, but at least it wasn't all over the place like Trapped and MODC. I don't know if the writers are to blame or those who put the scenes together. The same with 2gether btw. It's all so choppy.

Trapped was a mess too. There is a serious lack of good writers.
