I have read a lot of analysis of episodes 7 & 8 all over the internet. There is a lot of sympathy for Jiwoo and…
I thought that too ... that the Ji Woo character is a contradiction. He apparantly wants and needs people around him, but then again he pushes them away.

Most introverts prefer being left alone. He also had his job. He wasn't alone at home with the kids like a houswife who has no job and no social contacts anymore. He had every freedom to build a life for himself, and an understanding boyfriend who would work to make time for him.

"Wanting to be looked for and looking for someone are completely different things. "
That's a bit of a stretch.

Come on! I'm not hating on this series, but what they did with Ji Woo ... this is just bad.

I'm with you on how so many people nowadays scream "abuse!" or "rape!". But that kitchen scene after they slept together was terrible. Seo Joon was nervous and afraid, Ji Woo would say something hurtful again. It obviously takes a toll on him mentally. This is all so unnecessary and just causes drama for the viewers to suffer. Seo Joon is mentally pretty strong, despite having those panick attacks. I have seen people fall to deep depression and becoming suicidal for far less. Imagine your boyfriend leaves you with just a note, and later on he treats you like shit despite you always putting in the best effort. What's that doing to you and your self-esteem? How will this impact your future relationships? They went too far. I didn't even cry when Ji Woo broke down. Just get your sh*it together! They should have changed the mood after the kiss in Ep 4, instead the went even further down the depression road.

Saying Ji Woo acted like a di** because of his own insecurities - fair enough. But some of you act as if he is…
It was implied in the last episode that Ji Woo indeed wanted that Seo Joon was looking for him. The ex-girlfriend saying something like "You expect him to figure this out". The restaurant is called "Ti Aspetto" - I'm waiting for you. Not to mention that Seo Joon likes risotto, an Italian dish, because it was the last meal he ate when he visited his parents who went to Italy.

That said, there was emotional abuse happening. Ji Woo said very hurtful things to Seo Joon just for the sake of causing harm. The talk after they apparantly slept together was a low blow. He could have told him more directly he just should the hell f*ck off! He didn't. Because he still loves him. And Seo Joon senses that, so he tried again. But Ji Woo just put his wall up, until Seo Joon finally gave up. This is a mindf*ck for god's sake.

To those saying that this show delves deep into emotions and relationships or anything related to that, let me…
I think the core ideas of this series aren't bad at all. They thought about the characters, their personalities, and asked themselves what kind of problems they may have in their relationship. But they neglected the complexity of both charcters and used only a part of their personality which they blew completely up in Ji Woo's case. He had so much more to offer in s1 than his insecurities. He became extremely one-dimensional and depressing to watch. There really is NO character develompent. They both didn't change a bit. Seo Joon finally giving up was the only reasonable thing to do. They didn't learn anything from this mess. They didn't find a common ground where they could finally communicate and connect with each other. It was just the same over and over again: Seo Joon trying to get through Ji Woo, Ji Woo putting up his wall. Same stuff for 8 episodes.

Ji Woo said in his monologue at the end of Ep 8 how important Seo Joon was for him ... that he will be with him forever, because he had such an impact on his life.

Imagine you have someone who is so important to you, someone you admire and love - wouldn't you try to do your best to make him happy? Wouldn't you be inspired to become the best version of yourself? Nope. This really went in the wrong direction.

But do you really feel the love? At this point I think even their chemistry faded away. I see two complex characters who are drawn to each other, hurt each other. At this point it's just a mind game. I'm still confused about them apparantly sleeping together, when they can't even talk to each other properly. The physical and emotional aspect of that love story was completely neglected.

Its my first time seeing many viewers dont want leads to end together , I agree , they are not good for each other.…
I think the author miscalculated. They thought we would root for Ji Woo to the end, because he is suffering so much. As if his suffering is an excuse for everything. They just went too far.

Nope! The strangest, worst BL would be TharnType! Nothing can beat that one! 🤣
Tharntype is the definition of trash, similar to KinnPorsche. Both remind me of my young days when I read trashy fanfictions from people who don't know anything about storytelling, about characters and about life, but are successful because their stories are "edgy" as much as unrealistic and not relatable. How that child abuse trauma was handled in TharnType ...! No words. The VegasPete story in KinnPorsche ...! That's something for the brain dead. But we all know 50 shades of grey got a bestseller, so that's the quality the main stream enjoys. Same trash.

But I must admit when watching To My Star I feel similar. It's the other side of the coin: Poeple who lose themselves in depressive/angsty content while writing because they try to hard to make it "realistic". The author went deep down that depression hole. As a writer you have to please your audience and tell an engaging story. There was no character development shown until now. At episode 8 (!!) we saw Ji Woo finally sad and Seo Joon given somehow up, though I still fear he will take him back in a heart beat if Ji Woo runs crying to him. We understood his depression after two episodes. There was no need to drag this out and make the character so unlikable, that viewers don't even root for him. Depression is not easy to overcome, but again, a writer has to entertain the audience and evoke different feelings. This is the same stuff over and over again to the bitter end. Though I guess, it won't be that bitter. I still think we will get a Happy End.
Honestly, I'm not happy how they developed the Ji Woo character, and I think they overdid it with the angst. The mood throughout the whole series is too depressing. But overall this isn't bad. I enjoy it a lot, and will watch it to the end for sure. It was worth my time. Also talking about it is a lot of fun. If they give us a happy end, I'm here for it. And if it's not done well or plausible, I can't wait to complain about it, lol.

Didn't even watch Ep 3, but that made me laugh so much!

I don't think so. Ji Woo was holding back his tears. I rewatched that scene, because I didn't notice the first time. He KNEW what he was doing. And Seo Joon knew he would do it! He was fearful Ji Woo would say harsh things again. You could see how nervous he was. He openly admitted it, that he thought Ji Woo would tell him it was a mistake, but what he said then was even worse. That scene was honestly one of the worst of the whole series. Very hard to watch.

It's complex, but I will break it down to this:
Seo Joon never hurt Ji Woo INTENTIONALLY. Ji Woo on the other hand lied and said harsh things knowing very well it will hurt Seo Joon. He just took it too far, especially after they kissed and apparantly slept together. That's the issue I have with the character. It indeed makes him a questionable person. He should have found a better way to deal with Seo Joon. I comdemn his behaviour from a moral point of view. I myself could never hurt someone who is dear to me so much just because I'm insecure and can't handle my emotions.

Yeah, I know, but they were both drunk. Don't want to defend Vee, he was such an a**hole in the first series. I just feel it's slightly better in the remake. The plot is messy. I watch this for the good filmmaking and the chemistry, not for the plot. Not a fan of it.

If two people are involved who have romantic feelings for each other, it's always a love story, I guess. And we all know you have to love yourself first, before you can love someone else.

I don't think Seo Joon can help Ji Woo overcome his problems. He has to do it himself. For me this is more a journey of a guy who finally has to break out of the prison he created for himself.

I don't think that those who don't like it don't understand it.

The issue is more that for some people Ji Woo's inner turmoil is not a good enough explanation for his cruel behaviour. I know what kind of story the author was trying to tell. But there could have been a better plot. They could have provided us with a more engaging story. At this point this is not even a love story. It's about Ji Woo unsuccessfully fighting his own demons.

Ji Woo has to get out of his depressive shell. He has to overcome his gloomy self. How?

But I also hope Seo Joon will reject him. That would change the dynamic, so Ji Woo must chase after him and showing some will power. Until now he only run away.
