I've stepped away from this page for the last month because I've been watching The Long Ballad. Even being away for the last month, I can still see how popular this drama still is. Reasons, clearly from this comment section, but also the constant downloads (hitting close to 1,200) of the English subtitles that I've posted on Subscene back in early April, especially for Episode 37. This is a clear indication of great this drama is. =)

For those thinking of watching this drama, GO WATCH THIS!!! I highly recommend it.

Thanks for doing that. I found the 6 songs on Spotify.
I was not aware that Spotify included the lyrics (in Chinese and pinyin) as well as the English translation. If so, I will probably delete this if it's the same on Spotify.

Interpretation.I of course had thoughts around the significance of the snow, previously, but it didn't crystalize…
It was briefly mentioned Emperor Sui Yang was traveling to the north to the Great Wall. When he arrived at Yanmen Pass, he was besieged by Ashile Tribe. While saving the emperor, he saved Changge's mother.

I agree with you that their FATE was binding with the surrender of Shouzhou and the snow falling.

The death of Sun's mother was another binding event for those two (at least for me). I've always wondered if Changge had listened to Sun's initial warning to not be reckless, would his mother still be alive? Given his nature, I honestly believe he would've found a different solution to helping Changge rescue General Luo Yi, possibly not resulting in his mother's death.

There will be a few more episodes that are tear jerkers
Me too! I was re-watching for the second time and it had the same effect on me. E14, 15, and 25 made me cry.

So I LOVE the OST from this drama and have gone through the trouble of inserting the lyrics with the Chinese characters, pinyin, and the English translations in each mp3 song.

I have them sync on my iPhone, but was wondering if anyone would be interested in downloading them? I may just post a link to a folder in my Google Drive to download these mp3 songs.

Surely our hearts flutter but some times I still get angry at changga even knowing she's doing it for the good.…
I understand what you're saying since I was thinking that too. Then she goes on to tell him not to win the fight and let Wei Shuyu win stead. His responses of not wanting to fight clearly indicated that he was not WILLING going to lose to Shuyu in front of Changge. A little hint of jealousy. =)

Viki used Huace subs with their initial release. But in terms of them re-editing their subs, they've only completed…
I've posted subtitles for two versions. One where there are no commercials at the beginning of each episodes (e.g. episodes from YouTube) and the other are BDE4 version which has approximately 5.6 seconds of commercials at the beginning for E1-30, 37 & 38. So you don't need to resync them.

Here is the link for the subtitles:
https://subscene.com/subtitles/the-long-ballad-chang-ge-xing-song-of-the-long-march-princess-changge-princess-chang-ge/english/2478321

I use VLC Media Player on my computer, iPhone/iPad and it works great for these subtitles.

I found this forum when it was at about 15000 entries and have just signed up to rate TLB and participate. Thank…
Viki used Huace subs with their initial release. But in terms of them re-editing their subs, they've only completed up to E19. Even with their re-edit, they only change a little bit here and there and add a few translator notes. But for the most part, Viki subs are very close to Huace.

The only reason I know this is because I've gone through Huace, Viki and Viu subtitles and combined all three into one for a better/improved subs that I've published on Subscene. I've gone through the trouble of adding music lyrics that appears on the top of the screen while the English subs are on the bottom.

If you're waiting for Viki to complete their re-edits of the subs, it might take a while. I'm following Viki on their subs for Word of Honor as well and their re-edits are up to E27 out of 36. Keep in mind that the drama WOH finished airing on May 6.

Episodes 5-7 ↓↓
The scenes from finding out Changge's a girl to all their interaction there after are so CUTE! His eyes lit up whenever he saw her, such as them bumping into each other in episode 6 in Youzhou. Then some of the scenes at the inn.

You can feel A'Sun was falling for her. From rescuing her from the river to catching her from the rooftop to trying to find ways to cheer her up when he knew she was feeling down. Great performances on bringing the audience into their world of slowing falling for each other.

Haven't spoken about it before but remembered with latest scene rewatch and wanted to; episode 31 when Ah Sun…
I laughed at that scene as well. They were behaving like a couple. It was more in line with Changge asking, "Did you really come here to play chess?"

Who's still rewatching and who's ready to move on?
I've been rewatching a few episodes a day. This is probably my second re-watch. =) I am thinking of starting "Ugly Beauty". But I don't think I'm ready to move on yet.

I mean literally ASun went from splashing wine onto Changge’s injured shoulder to getting so freaken worried…
I am reading your comments with a wide smile on my face because your childhood memory is very similar to mines. I remember sometimes going to the rental store with my parents and coming back home with a few new VHS releases or sometimes even the complete drama (maybe 20-25 VHS).

Similar to you, I don't know what it is about TLB that has grabbed my complete and full attention. I haven't enjoyed a drama this AMAZING in a long time.

I've started watching dramas since I was young, thanks to my parents for introducing me to Asian drama. =) I remember watching My Fair Princess (1998) in VHS and I was in my teens. So I've watched my fair share of dramas.

I started watching this drama without any high expectations. But the drama immediately caught my attention in the first episode with the Cuju game. As alot of people have mentioned the storyline, cinematography, character developments, relationships, and many more are factors in making this drama a success.
