I've dropped shows sometimes when the content was too triggering for me. I'll go in thinking the show is one thing and then a side story or even the main plot will hit too close to home so I'll have to bow out. Also sometimes I just really can't stay in a sad place for too long with visual content. So those really long sad epic Chinese dramas I just try to stay away from altogether. I don't care how amazing the actors are, heck it's worse when the actors are good, but my mental health is more important than staying up to date with a popular drama. And the Korean drama's are the worst perpetrators of the tone switch mid season. First 4 episodes will be cute and fun, something big to hook u will happen around episode 8 or 9 and then comes the BS and sadness until the last 15 minutes or heck end tragically.
Once you get past the high school stuff they start to color code the main couple. They are always wearing similar colors even before they get together. I just found that bit cute. Also the leads seem really natural together. This is a much more pure/sweet coming of age drama. But a good bit of fluff every once in a while is nice.
I have a question: So the whole point of having Kot nim explode with the bomb was, that the nanobots inside her…
different nanobots? I think they only mention it like once or twice in a very off handed horribly trans/subbed sentence. Because it was so poorly subbed I'm not even sure they WERE different nanobots. because the only line that comes to mind comes from an extra saying "Are those *cant remember word they used* nanobots, the indestructible kind?" there are many...and I mean MANY plot holes in this movie. So many moments of "why?" Why do they all of a sudden keep people alive when they were willing to kill all of them an hour ago? Why do they have their secret organization symbol in such visible places that a simple black light could reveal? Why didn't they keep the money AND double cross the big bad guy? Seriously they are criminals, they can take the money and not follow through with their agreements.
under spoiler tag cause of long comment no real spoilers, just a bit negative and didn't want it to be the first thing people see. If you like the lead actors watch it. If you don't well...I think you might get a bit frustrated. I know the budget wasn't very high, but ummm could they have at least not have so many subtitle errors/mistranslations? The majority of this movie is exposition being TOLD instead of just shown. So when what I'm reading and what I'm hearing aren't the same it's pulls me right out. I speak/read English fluently and known some Korean(like most people who watch a lot of media from a country they don't natively speak the language of you end up picking things up). So when the translations are constantly wrong, even the English subtitles for the English sentences it kept pulling me out.
And I feel like a complete jerk for saying this, but it kept pulling me out of the movie. The supporting cast/extras....if you've been watching Kdramas for any length of time you will recognize most of these actors. You know the ones. The English teacher/foreign exchange student turned actor/extra without any training what so ever. Yeah, with a tv show you kind of look past the bad acting/direction, but in a movie that is only the length of 2 kdrama episodes, well it becomes a lot more glaring. The main cast was amazing which made the supports lack of acting training that much more obvious. I wanted to enjoy this movie more than I did. But this, for me, wasn't even a "turn your brain off" kind of enjoyment that I can get out of most action movies with pacing/editing issues.
No , the event in 1786 still happened in last episode. Some said you can skip ep 17 if you want happy ending, but…
I've marked this as spoiler. It's an over 200 year old spoiler, but still....SPOILER for those who don't know the story of this couple.
I just don't know if i'm up for the FL dying while 8 months pregnant 3 months after their 3 & 1/2 year old son...great King & love story, but damn that is one tragic ending...for both of them tbh.
Subtle is the best way to put it like Cocktail said. Like this isn't romance novel level stuff that some other shows have. This is more of a Jane Austen style "sweet" romance with misunderstandings and bad timing that spans years instead of a week. (looking a you Stephanie Meyer...looking at you)
Do the ML and FL end up together? Or is it an open ending? Like one moving away and suddenly showing up in the…
They do end up together after another three year time jump in the last episode. It's a slow burn sweet love. Right person wrong time kind of thing with them. This is more about righting the wrongs against them and the kids caught in the crossfire.
For me this should still be in the romance genre category. It's a much more realistic portrayal of love and how it matures over time. Right person wrong time is really a thing and they played it beautifully. Baek Seung Yoo and Ji Yoon Soo just needed to find their right time. (Which as just a side note just so happens to be after BSY would be a fully cooked human....brain developmental stage wise and all that good stuff. Also time jumping to the actors real age made me smile.)
With his crush on her being the fuel needed to burn her credibility, thus kicking off the main plot, there is no way it would make sense for them to get together before everything is resolved and even more time has passed. They wouldn't have been in healthy space yet. BSY really matures over the course of the show. From his teenage crush, to young infatuation bordering on obsession, and finally to love and understanding of JYS. Cause for a minute in the middle it was a very selfish form of love without taking into consideration the other person and their feelings. Once he realized that he just wanted her to be happy he was able to get unstuck from this toxic mindset(imo) that he had at the beginning of the time jump. Once he realized they didn't need to be together to have a happy ending they were both able to get to a place where they COULD be together.
I also loved loved loved to see that the other characters got to be more than just 2D bad guys. Accepting yourself was a major theme in this show. Finding redemption in acceptance. Yeah it was just a very sweet drama imo.
14 episodes in of 16. Honestly, how can this drama be pitched as a romance? We’ve watched 14 episodes of supposedly…
That extra scene was to show the night before he woke up and found her outside by the fire pit. It's to show that she DOES like/care for him, but that she's going to do everything in her power to make sure that the outcome is what's best for HIM. Even if that means putting distance between them. It was her last private moment to be close to him before leaving him. If you noticed in the last episode he was reading the room better. There was at first a desperation to find her and then an understanding of her. Also he's a very patient man. Math proofs can take years...he looks like he might be willing to wait for them to have "their right time" no matter how long that might take.
It's so funny to me that the leads spent so much time and effort trying to take down the principal, meanwhile…
"The call is coming from inside the house." is such a perfect depiction of what is happening with not only Noh Jung Ah, but the other families as well. The parents messing up the kids to the point of "breaking" them. That brokenness is blowing back right in their faces. I feel like Ye Rin will have some redemption through helping her brother do the right thing now that he is where she was 4 years ago. I like that the show actually made me interested in the outcome of everyone. Including the ex. Cause that man has gone through it and he is done. Burning all the bridges; cutting all the strings. I love to see it.
I am finding this drama to be suspenseful. I keep fearing for the leads that they will not be successful or, worse,…
Time lapse where Si An is winning a math award and they both attend. Coin toss of if they are "together" or seeing each other for the first time in a while.
If that's really the case then it's really better. I dropped this at episode 12 and wondering if u should continue.…
It's one of those times where the romance is secondary to the overall plot, but it is one of the main driving forces that is always there. If that makes any sense. There is definitely feelings on both sides, but it's whether or not they are willing to actually act on them that that will most likely be dragged out till the very last episode. They each care deeply for the Si An as protectors. Although they like each other he has started to "read the room" a little better lately with regards to her feelings and where she's at mentally. It's not a Romeo & Juliette romance where they don't care about anyone or anything but themselves. This is more of a learning from each other greater good type thing. Very much starting to get the "Here's looking at you. Kid" vibes.
It's looking like YS bike accident from earlier episode. I'm wondering if his breaks were tampered or did he get…
The way they teased it made it look like the ex had something to do with it. Cause the shot prior to that was from the ex's perspective in his car as he watched SY on his bike.
The writers kept changing their mind mid way through so the show doesn't actually make any sense at the end. Like…
Plot holes the size of the Grand Canyon. They wanted to reference and call back to classic works, but they forgot to READ the classic work they were referencing.
Ok am superb confused... first i thought their solid hav been interchanged in MLs bodies. Wat with LSH having…
The writers kept changing their mind mid way through so the show doesn't actually make any sense at the end. Like everything they set up doesn't pay off later. It was one of the biggest let downs of the 2020 line-up.
