This "promise from the sovereign" is total bs. Every ruler lies and breaks promises. And there was no oath spoken. This is stupid logic that could have easily been fixed with a line or two of dialog. So whether it existed and was edited out or if it never was, it just doesn't flow well....and we've seen that scene multiple times now, which is why i'm bringing it up. I don't think I would care as much, but they keep reminding me of the poorly thought-out "I can't tell her the truth" logic.
I'm glad I like the performances from all the actors because production/writing quality aren't really very good for me atm. I think there are too many times they have over lit a scene so they can film it with multiple cameras at the same time. So not one angle is lit with any kind of purpose or direction....just lit to show the subjects on screen. Almost at times to the point of overly lit where everyone kind of glows like they've been airbrushed to filth. This is a recurring issue I have with Youku shows though. Their lighting and postproduction coloring is always lacking. (most professional footage is shot in RAW format and then processed by the production who can choose the different levels of all the uncompressed data. RAW is a really big file of image data....it captures EVERYTHING so you have to go in an pick and choose tone, color cast, hue, saturation etc) I'm just not vibing with their choices for the final overall look of the footage. Also with very few exceptions the framing of the shot is lackluster and the editing is...doing it's best. There is a LOT of telling instead of showing happening. That's most likely down to budget as you don't really want to hire a whole actor to play a character who dies in the same episode who was just bait for another character anyway. I get it. Doesn't make it any less disappointing when it happens. And with the ML being an emperor we aren't getting a lot of his "inner conflicts" shown on his face or in "private" because he is so rarely alone. We getting it every once in awhile when it's just him and the FL and one of them is unconscious or Simi lucid..... It's just very average overall which definitely explains the current rating. Nothing is really making it standout amongst other dramas that are similar. I don't hate it, but I don't love it either.
Kind of like a buzz when the dialog/music hits a certain volume? I can't tell if it's my phone/tv that is causing the issue or if it's simply the app. I truly hope it's not just the sound mix on the whole drama not being a good quality. I'm still a day out from being able to double check on viki.
The writer is one of the writers for Sword and Beloved. Just in case, get ready, that includes me. π£
I was just on reels and saw what happened to some, not all, of the characters in that one. I figure Zhong Lin is going to end up being cannon fodder no matter what. Because so far she's the only one not stabbing CangCang in the back like every last man in her life...seriously every man she meets and starts to trust is either on the darkside or not communicating anything to her that would help her understand.
So I'm only 2 episodes in and think the biggest issue I'm going to have is the lack of clear communication between Xiao Huan and Ling CangCang. As she's been manipulated by her adoptive brother, father and master. That's just in the first 2 episodes. Like my guy if you killed her master because he was the Ghost King of the Lingbi sect and know her father is blacking mailing you in some way....just idk...tell the woman you love the truth? Just a thought. So purposeful miscommunication is a bit of a pet peeve of mine, but I like their dynamic as Bia Chi Fan and CangCang to much at the moment to worry about it right now. But imma need someone to rain on this girls parade at some point and open her eyes to the men around her because the wool over them is a bit too tight even a year later. I'm going to need some major time jumping to happen so we can get them back to trusting one another as a married pair for more than half of the final episode.
EDIT: when all else fails, reload the app and bada bing bada boom subtitles! Okay came in to watch after 8 episodes have aired so these questions might have already been answered earlier. Does Youku not have the English subtitles for this one? I'm on my app and it's not letting me choose English CC and I am a bit confused. I do have a viki account but it's not airing for another 3 days. I'm going to try my desktop and see if I'm just missing it or something.
I swear to god Allen, if you die in this one Imma throw a lil tempie tantrum. I need this to not be the case Allen...I'm trusting you....πππ this can not be me in 3 weeks π€‘
Very much worth watching. I think of all the dramas I've watched it has one of the best endings.
No, not really for me. But that was the personality I met first because I was watching it as it aired before the re-edit to change the order into a more linear timeline. So to me, at her core she was always a lighter more carefree person. And at the end it was more of a blend and she was actually able to live more as herself than ever before.
Was it implied that there was some sort of connection between Song Shi Lan and Jiang Chun? Also side question...I…
I think you're correct in who you're talking about Shen You was the North Qi commander that Wang Lan(pregnant at the time 6th Wei sister in-law). Okay so in the show Song Shi Lan was very much autistic-coded or at the very least ACE(either asexual or aromantic) coded so I never picked up on anything. I'm not sure that they every had any scenes together outside of large public gatherings and there was no in camera nods to his attraction/attention to her. That's a bit disappointing as it would have been easy to include a lingering look/sigh of regret from him. The actor is very good at having internal thoughts projected on his face...missed opportunity from production. I have so many thoughts on the overall editing and screen adapting of this one. I just think there are better ways to progress through a story using visual media than what we were given for a final product. I think it was a bit of a disserves to not have the production be a full/true ensemble. I get why that doesn't happen in cdramas...the fans be crazy about where their person ranks in a cast list(billing) too much for that. Perfect Match didn't do as good a job as it could have either, but something like how perfect match didn't actually have set leads but for Fight For Love have more simultaneous stories rather than only having a couple have an 8 episode arc and moving to the next. Now that I'm finished with the show I'm just looking back at all the wasted filler that could have made the overall stories flow better.

They established MULTIPLE times that Chu Yu can jump walls of well secured residences and yet somehow she's "afraid and trapped" by a man with almost no martial arts skills and a very lack luster security team. The only reason he's still alive to do this is because he's a fast roller.....on the ground. So, writers, next time do better with you're set ups. Not only was the whole lead up extremely triggering, you somehow made the FL forget she's a warrior who can take down over a dozen men at once on her own with no real weapon. Seriously...a line of "you can't keep me here and you know that it would take me all of a minute to escape or kill all your men..." I needed her to be confident in her abilities. A smirk.....something other than a clinched fist and direct death threat that went nowhere while she shook with fear. I personally would have scarred his face up real nice and then jumped over a wall and been on my merry way to a public place with lots of witnesses. Or to one of my many friends places so they can give me an alibi. "Oh no, an assassin broke into the new Chancellor's place on his birthday and scarred him up real good...I wonder who it could be." Shocked Pikachu face.

Is anyone else having audio issues?

Also side question...I guess it doesn't really matter in the long run, but what the hell happened to Shen You after he ran away from QingZhou?
