I've started watching today and objectively speaking it is a good drama, but I just couldn't get over the fact…
Brother was never interested in FL. He clocked his little brother's crush on her and teased him about it. Even implied that there was another person he had feelings for who is NOT the FL. He just wanted to get justice for Chu Yu's family/army because it happened under his family's nose. They(Wei) are in charge of the Arsenal bureau that the blueprints of the crossbow leaked from. He never had any interest in her romantically....he even left a letter if he didn't comeback from war that whomever finds the letter should help her. He is a gentleman and worried about her reputation, but outside of a sense of duty, no, Wei Jun had no attachment to Chu Yu. And Chu Yu was only looking for an in to the Wei family to gain access to the Arsenal Bureau and seeking an ally to investigate. She knows Jun's reputation and character and seeks his aid. When he dies, she knows that if his family falls the bureau will go into another family's hands so she does everything to protect the Wei family and make sure that Yun inherits the Marquis of Zhenguo title.
So they were more like co-workers...not actually ever seriously thinking about marriage. She told him she would think of a way to get out of the engagement and save his reputation as she didn't care about her own anymore.

Question.
In the novel is the age gap between the Princess and Hanmei as big as the one between the actors?(16 years)

If they follow the novel, Xue Hanmei, is a very big part, has a very important role, also they are a couple. But…
Hanmei was a bad ruler or the Princess's husband was a bad ruler?

Did Victoria Song use a dubbing artist? I've just started the drama and it doesn't sound like her real voice.
most likely. I'm not sure she uses her own voice for period dramas, she might not have the diction for it. Apparently it's the most common reason someone is dubbed outside of schedule/time restraints.

Is ML weak and naive? If yes then this drama may become little bit dull
Youthful and playful, but cunning and intelligent. He's the 7th son of a general who was very very loved and sheltered by his family when it comes to certain things outside of fighting and strategy. So he's naive when it comes to women and romance, but not about politics, battle, education, court dynamics etc. He was focused on winning battles not on getting a leg up in society or wooing the ladies of the court. Having so many older brothers already married that was the last thing on his mind until FL showed up.

Of the six wives, which ones are still left? I'm really confused. I know one left directly.
Jiang Chun, 2nd brother Wei Shu's wife. She is the mother of the eldest nephew and the new matriarch(?) of the family...Old Madame Wei gave her the keys to the house which is a big deal, so she runs the household. She's also now in charge of the care of the two other Wei children.
Wang Lan the youngest of the wives was married to 6th brother Wei Rong. She is currently pregnant and couldn't bring herself to leave the Wei family. She choses to guard her husband.

Xie Jiu was married to the 5th brother, Wei Ya. They had a strained relationship. Not exactly sure what was wrong. but her family are the Xie family(grand tutor) and seems to be getting a LOT of family pressure. I think she respected her husband and his family, but felt very trapped. I think theirs was more a political/arranged marriage, not a love match. I think she knows some things that we haven't been clue in on just yet.

second wife and the one that pregnant
They are still very young and can remarry. They have to leave their children behind to be raised by their husbands relatives, but they can go back to their families if "released" (divorced by a male member(head of the family) of her husbands clan.
The 5th sister-in-law Xie Jiu never had children with her husband and comes from a family that would still use her for political/marriage alliances.
The others who left, Zhang Han and Yao Jue, also felt some pressure to go back to their families for remarriage. Though their husbands would want them to be able to find love again and not be labeled a widow forever.
Wang Lan was pressure to return to her family to give birth, but couldn't bare the thought of leaving the Wei family behind yet. She also wants to help Jiang Chun with all the children...she very much loved her husband and can't think about leaving her new born behind to start a new life.

Has the plot move along yet? Are the main actors anywhere near noticing each other? I stopped at ep 2 knowing…
Ep8 is when Yun gets a little taken aback by finding Chu Yu attractive. Still doesn't trust her but there is marked interest on his end. (he's always been interested since the bridge dance, but has been immature/in denial about his attraction to her)
Ep11. They now both are aware of each other's involvement in the crossbow case, and Yun has now tripped into, well my brother and her had no feelings...so...i can like.
He shows a more protective instinct around her and shows some jealousy toward others interacting with her.

There are developments happening with two of the Song siblings with the two other Chu siblings. Song siblings falling hard and fast for the Chus.

Chu Yu is still focused on the case and hasn't really shown romantic interest in Wei Yun yet. But his delulu is kicking into high gear(dreaming about her). She teases him, but hasn't fully clued into his feelings...that should be coming soon based on teaser trailers.

I keep confusing some of the sister-in-laws(3rd & 4th) because I don't know the actresses well enough to tell them apart outside of their costumes...so when I looked up the cast list I couldn't tell who was who and keep having to go back and double check the episode and pray someone says their name and not nickname or title. djfoi ajdsoj
When we got to the Yao Song part I was like oh Yao Jue has the little girl...nope...wrong actress. She's 4th SiL and has a son Lingmo. It don't help that only the eldest nephew is listed in the cast here and luckily he's listed under his mother's name as well.
Production, can yall please drop the full family tree chart. Cause everyone is connected to each other. I know Xie Jiu is going to be popping back up soon with her family...all the sisters in law will pop back up. I just need better visual aids than a moody headshot with no facial expression...aka can't see anything that makes them unique to tell the difference.
(By the way, for reference, I personally do better at recognizing movements of people, so still shots of people I don't know well are extremely hard for me to identify. My vision is that of an impressionist painting without my glasses.)

Watched the first 6 episodes and so far I'm enjoying the storyline, the back story has been established and now…
a handful of people left 1star reviews on all 40 episodes prior to them airing. As 99% of people who watch the show are only rating as the episodes air the score will remain low for a while. So far it's a solid 8 for me, for a 40 episode drama. I can tell most of their budget/attention is going into the battle/fight scenes.
Also the show was listed as a rebirth drama because that is what happens in the novel, but because of the censorship rules the production team just discarded that plot altogether, which apparently pissed some people off.
Like Yue said, there are a few shows airing at the moment that I've noticed have actors who have, lets just say, very active fans.

To add another comment, It's already good that the sister in laws were allowed to leave the family after their…
Also because the child is considered the father's even in death. Not to mention bringing a child into a new marriage wouldn't be easy for the child. Think of what happens to half siblings even within the same paternal line. Every family is different, but at least the Wei wives know that their kids would be well loved in the Wei household. I don't say safe, as that is never a guaranty, but cared for and protected none the less.

I’m older and I’m also dissapointed in it after 13 episodes. It’s just poorly executed.
I can understand not liking a show. What I can't understand is rating it before it has even aired the episode. I can't tell how many of the 11 users were dropping 1 star reviews on the episode page but enough to make the average rating a 4 out of 10. currently episodes 24-40 have a score of 3.3 stars which is just dumb. MDL needs to stop allowing episodes that have yet to air to get reviewed.
I just need the people who dislike the show to drop it and move on with their life. There is so much to watch out there. I don't get why someone would want to waste their time to this degree on something they dislike.

wow 7.9. is it that bad? or is it like the double that rose later?
Always look at the stats as well as the episode & review page to see if there is a pattern. Currently the under 25s are dragging the score down. Also someone or multiple people took it upon themselves to review bomb episodes that haven't even aired yet. While a show is airing is when you can clearly see false reviews or sabotage from anti fans. It's a weird hobby some people have apparently.

Why did someone change the poster on the show page? what in the bad lighting is happening here? Seriously someone change it back, as a photographer I'm offended on behalf of the production team.

I'm not currently watching anymore but it's still on a list so it's in my calendar until it's complete.
