Her name is Lin Qi Le - Yingtao (Cherry) is her nickname that her friends & family call her - when they are…
On Netflix they aren't using Cherry but Ying Tao. Also the show was originally titled Cherry Amber(based off a story of the same name).
It makes sense on the other platforms in context to actually use Cherry instead of Ying Tao because its the meaning that matters. Cherry....red and sweet. Red is his favorite color for a reason. Qi Le is sweet like a cherry and warm like the color red.
I don't really mind either way because I personally knew what Ying Tao meant and could hear the name clearly. But others watching this, it could be their first time watching a Chinese drama or anything in Chinese. So depending on what platform they use they could be missing a hell of a lot of context.
its 2 episodes per day and it is at ep 13, airing on NETFLIX and its gng to end on 26th
International contracts will vary from the the national ones. It's not as bad as the Japanese Netflix contracts I've seen in the past, but it can be frustrating when even VPNs(well my VPN) doesn't have a server in mainland China to stream in a legal loophole. I've been watching the latest episodes on a not so legal site then replaying them the next day on Netflix while I journal so that it's still getting the international viewing count.
I would like to know this too. She was so kind to him when she was little when a lot of people treated him poorly because of his circumstances. And now that he is doing well in the world, I hope that he becomes a helper to Ying Tao.
I am having a hard time ignoring them bestie, they are really testing my patience cuz they can't find anything…
I just count it towards the comment total & keep it moving. I dont mide debating art with people, but when they so obviously haven't even bothered to watch...im not wasting my breath on negative when I can be kicking my feet & giggling over a performance or a direction/cinematography choice that was made. like come on....they are tailoring the direction/cinematography for each mood & theme. im really liking this director. (I haven't read the source material for Cherry Amber so I can't comment on adaptation quality) but from a film language standpoint...10/10 so far.
Is it me or the camera movement changed in ep 12 ?
because of how direct/serious the conversations were. although they never flat out said the word the subject matter was suicide. the cinematography conveyed his feeling of claustrophobia(in his life situation) & also his need to connect with another person. Ying Tao is speaking to the camera(Qiao Xi & the audience who might also need the same message).

the Block button is my favorite for these people. seriously im not seeing as much as others because ive already blocked most of them from previous interactions. protect yourself, bestie.

Because they are STILL kids when they are remembering when they were 9/10. It's only been like five or six years. And shortly after he left so did each of her other friends. She didn't make new ones.
They all formed strong bonds at that time, but the two leads became very close in a shortish period and then were pulled apart. Because they met at the time when kids tend to form first crushes and they didn't know each other prior aka dippers etc.
In the time they were apart she was raising a living breathing pet that they shared(so a constant reminder of him. She gave his name meaning, treated him like a whole person and not a replacement for a dead kid. So literally every time he hears his name he will think of her. She asked questions and learned his preferences and cared about him. He very much imprinted on her a bit. She was the first person to treat him with actually love and kindness outside of his cousin. He was able to just be himself and a kid with her. Then he was taken away from her and she was threatened and he needed to protect her. They each have each other on a bit of a pedestal. And BECAUSE they were the age they were is WHY they are so attached to one another even after being no contact for years.
I'm wondering if they are going to leave the ex-fiancée storyline completely out. Only 2 episodes left. We better get a nice long epilogue though cause imma be sad if we on get 5minutes in the last epiosde for their HEA.
oh no....not the laughing a merriment scene with all the side characters close to the leads minus the royal/political ppl...never a good sign. imma just pause episode 19 before anything actually happens & wait until viki has released episode 24. cause nope.
Ngl I just can’t take the premise seriously. I totally get missing someone and being nostalgic, but these were…
She spent months and months with him always at her house because his father was busy with work. They shared a pet, they made many promises & let's be 100, he is her first love. This wasn't just a few hours at school they were seeing each other, he ate at their house almost everyday for multiple meals a day. also 6months in kid time is WAY longer than it would be for an adult as everything is new.
I really like the lighting design they chose for this. The make up is minimal(not overwhelming & made to look natural)& makes them look the age their characters are supposed to be. Its nice to actually see actors with pigment in what I would consider an "idol drama". iykyk The costumes are bringing me back, the characters seem to have been born in between '89 to '91(can't pin point exactly without maybe going back to see if we can see the year on his birthday. all that to say, I was born in '90 so a lot of the "current events" playing in the background are things I remember & some of the style is even similar(though US fashion was different there was some crossover)
I like that they are showing so many varieties of family dynamics. Also they are perfectly showcasing how different people(the teenagers specifically) all deal with feelings differently. The "I dont even know that my feelings are more than friendship & everytime I get close to that conclusion...I dont know what you're talking about." the "is he blind & stupid or is this his way of letting me down easy? how can he not know I like him?" & then you have the leads who were gone from the get. Well at least on his side, that boy imprinted on her like a baby duck & only wants to follow her.
Why is mdl comments are so weird? I am enjoying the drama but everytime I came here I lost my mood
the more popular the actors in a series are the more likely you will see just wild takes/comments. There are comments that are normal & critiquing the show/storyline normally...but yeah let's just say I've noticed that there is a target for some of the ones that just dont make sense if they were actually watching the show.
currently how old are they?? whats up with the gossiping like aren't they just kids maybe cause i studied in finnish…
if they are all the same age 17ish. I think they are in their second year of middle school (junior year high school) so one more school year until college. cause I think the classroom scenes would have stressed the entrance exam more if they were seniors.
I find myself 2x or straight skipping all the scenes with the 2nd male lead...he really just believes anything people tell him about Nan Heng that is bad. Not ONCE(i'm on episode 28) has he actually carefully looked into ANYTHING. He comes to a conclusion and then forces all evidence to point to Nan Heng being a bad guy or just makes shit up to fit his narrative. Again these character are written poorly on purpose, but we are stuck having to watch their stupid plots play out. I really wish they would have cut out a lot of his scenes when he is not with the FL or ML because all it does is remind me that FL is in a dumb script that we are being forced to watch. He scenes aren't funny they are just frustrating.
not going to lie. im struggling with certain aspects of the show. so the Emperor is an idot with a one track mind and zero actual thoughts or logic. but he's written that way on purpose....but with the FL not commented on his stupidity it makes me frustrated. she cant die, she knows this, she "died" multiple times and was reset. so with this logic established WHY ISNT SHE CALLING HIM ON HIS BULLSHIT? It just doesn't make sense to me when you show a character come back to life multiple times & that character is somehow still scared of death. dont get me wrong im enjoying the show, but it just feels like she has forgotten that they are not real & it just kind of bugs me.
