as a neurospicy person with friends also on the spectrum many of us can not read romantic feelings as romantic...there have been many times I was oblivious to other people's feelings for me, but I could always tell when someone had feelings for someone else. I just had a blind spot when it came to me. when I was younger I didn't realize I liked someone as more than a friend until years later...it does actually happen more so at the age of the FL than in adulthood. but yes people do miss the ques of romance when they just like being around a person & are focused on other things...like school.
So I just finished watching. I am just confused of the timeline. All the while, I thought, the leads got together…
maybe he said a few years or a couple of years but it was translated as 2? idk I don't understand Mandarin well enough to hear if he said an actual number.
This is a show that I would have kept watching if it was 46 episodes or even 60 following Haun'er, Xi Chi, & Song Cong all the way through adulthood...the ending still feels like a beginning, and I think that's what makes the show feel beautiful. An ending is the start of a new beginning.
in my mind they do...mainly because of the comrade, neighbor comment/parallel to Haun'er & XiChi. Song Cong also seems much more at peace when he is with Du Man. They don't force the other to "fit", they just simply...are. They accept each other & support each other.
I doubt they would ever do a season 2 on a show like this so in my Head Canon they take a year or two more of dancing around their feelings before eventually acting on them.
i really wish productions would stop having scenes of people talking with their mouths full & smacking. I have a misophonic reaction to eating sounds. I have no clue what was said by the badie in episode 15 because I have to fast forward her parts. yall im still upset...this is probably the stupidest neurospicy attribute i have tbh....
Small spoilers but mainly spoiler tag for length and not exactly positive commentary on the current state of the show.
The plot is moving like we have 40 episodes, but we only have 30...imma need them to refocus and get to the point soon. Cause what's happening in episode 21 should have been a midway point not the start the final third imo. So far the show is mainly about women being trapped my men with false reputations. And about the women fighting amongst themselves for the small sense of power they get from a man's favor or power within the household.
Now that a certain storyline has come to completion I fear that what is left in the supporting role department is....lacking. The over acting from the FL's father...every time he's on screen it's like dentures are not glued properly the way his jaw is ALWAYS moving and quivering. The pouting from the half-sister is embarrassing from a woman in her 20s(played by an actress whom I can tell is not in her 20s) who is supposedly into more masculine hobbies but with no talent for anything.
I don't particularly like that the FL has lost a proper sparing partner when it comes to female supporting characters. Maybe with the Consort coming back into the picture it will become worth her wit. But the constant sidetracks for petty inner chamber drama. Don't get me wrong, I understand why episode 21 in particular was important for the FL and ML's dynamic and a story thread for the next act, but I'm genuinely concerned that with only 9 episodes left there is little time for a proper development of the FL and ML's relationship as well as wrapping up all the political and family drama.
For reference it's giving The Story of Pearl Girl pacing....if you've seen that you know there was a narrative shift at the midway point at episode 18 just like in this show's episode 18. TSoPG had a 40 episode count, and imo didn't do justice to the set up....and this show has 6.6hours less runtime to work with. I'm hoping my worries are unfounded by the end, but as the song goes..."i think i've seen this film before, and i didn't like the ending..."
Does anyone know the song that kind of becomes Haun'Er's lullaby the "My Baby" one that Xi Chi plays for her in episode 14 and it plays again when she falls asleep in episode 27? I thought it would be on the soundtrack but it doesn't look like it's listed.
Regardless of the credibility of all these controversies, I really don't understand this unfair and savage reaction…
I'd like to point out this wasn't just a relationship gone bad. This was a an adult preying on a minor and then putting himself in another position of power over her by signing her to his company that he co-owns with his cousin. His company then put pressure on her to pay back fines after her DUI incident and refused to communicate with her about it. She was harassed in the press and his company that she was signed under did nothing to protect her. This isn't just a boyfriend but a boss. That power dynamic is very not okay. It could have been more of a grey area if she had been an adult, but she was a minor at the start of their relationship. I don't think the press needs to be hounding him nor netizens, but I also don't think his sponsors should have to keep him. If all the sponsors are pulling funding or no longer want their brand associated with him then production has to go about working around that if it was incorporated into the show in anyway.
I am begging the gaffers and DP at this point....can we stop with the overhead florescent lights in night shots of a period drama? I promise, if you light it more naturally it will look better. Scouts honor.
I'm only forgiving the scenes with the daughter because you have to film a multi cam shot to get all the angles needed in a short amount of time(due to child labor laws) so I can sort of understand the over-lighting for her scenes. But for the love of all that is holy there are no overhead lights at night time in this time period. Please light accordingly.
please forgive me I'm a cinematography/production nerd and I will notice this every damn time and yet still it will take me by surprise somehow.
Train of thought spoilers for up to 14 minutes into episode 18.....
So...If both her(Zhuang Han Yan) father and Fu Yun Xi are adoptive sons of this Eunuch Pei guy does that mean they have both been castrated like the other adoptive son? I think it's unlikely, and I think they did an inspection of her father as he fell in the over 40 group...but Fu Yun Xi.......
did you know that you can watch youku episodes at 4x speed...cause you can... at this point I'm just finishing to finish im not paying extra for express so 22 & 23 will have to wait
Can someone answer in a spoiler tag below...is Yeo Eun Nam pregnant at any point yet? They had a little too much emphasis on their last time together being unprotected. I've only finished episode one.
Song Cong also seems much more at peace when he is with Du Man. They don't force the other to "fit", they just simply...are. They accept each other & support each other.
