yes this director who wrote the adaptation for drama just love things tooo DRAMATIC.
😬....I'm such a production nerd that I have a LOT to say....but I am keeping a lot to myself for fear of yucking someone's yum. I don't want someone to see the show differently while watching it because of something I've said and them lose any joy that they are currently having. I just don't think my overall review is going to be as high as I originally thought it was going to be. And that's totally on me and my expectations of the show that I've been waiting for for about 2ish years.
I'm 3 episodes behind...but just from reading about 2 comments looks like they completely changed the source material...if that's the case it's now about the 10th thing they have changed to make it more "dramatic" than it already was originally....which...hmmm...I'll reserve full judgement until I'm caught up and see how and where they are going with this.
I read a comment here calling her a failure, but how can that be said after everything she’s been through? She…
Oh, I have been blocking repeat victim blamers left and right and since then the comment section has been sooooo much nicer. Don't be afraid to use that feature. Just go into their profile and "block user" and they can't see your comments, you can't see theirs....it's a beautiful thing. I like to think of it as them screaming into a void that no one can hear.
Seriously, protect you peace, as some people don't know how to have nuanced conversations about abuse and character development.
I'm wondering what was cut from the show...it went from, I think, 36 episodes down 23. I'm hoping that it just took out any side stories that don't actually matter to the overall love story. Because there have been shows where I think, well they could have done more. But there have been a lot more shows that I've thought they could have cut at least a 4th to a 3rd of the final edit and made a better drama. I hope this is the latter and not the former situation.
If anyone knows the tea please share. Or if you know the original source material and know what length sounds right for the story 36 vs 23.
I really hope that by Sunday we get express because starting Monday for the next four days it’ll only be one…
I'm pretty sure it will have express about then and so with TFF....I'm going to be no sleep all notes sun/mon. I can't remember what's airing after this one ends....I know Ski into Love replaces TFF on Youku, but can't remember what's up next for iQiYi in this time slot.
Okay, to the people who have watched Are You the One and The Rise of Ning...have they been able to style Zhang Wan Yi differently enough in this one? I remember the other two shows were film close together and then aired back to back and both his characters were so much alike in styling that it was slightly frustrating from a production standpoint. I've seen a few stills but have no context for overall styling and character presentation.
Hummmm I think, algorithm willing, that I can hold off on watching until Sunday so I can watch it all in one go. I have so many other dramas to catch up on/finish and this one a day then nothing is giving me anxiety...so I'm practicing patience and waiting until we can have an entire happy episode.
I love the final confrontation with the ex in her apartment. Her parents mentioned that Xi Fan would need to be involved as marriage is between two people not one. Xi Fan stood up for herself and defended herself when he started to say that it was her fault. And only after that did SuYe interfere and put himself between Xi Fan and the Ex. Finally, her dad now getting the full picture, for the first time, stands up and kicks the ex out of the house completely. She wasn't being rescued, she wasn't a damsel....she stood up for herself and was backed by those who could physically remove him from the environment. Also, her mother realizing that because she didn't dig deeper she accidentally hurt her child, and the devastation of that realization. Yeah...whole family is healing. Love that.
Romance Girlies(this is not actually gender specific iykyk) we are being well feed this February/March. This much mean that The First Frost will be finished by the 10th.
I like to think of it as them screaming into a void that no one can hear.
