I hate to show my pessimism, but the original Meteor Garden was by far the best of all the F4 versions, so this remake is gonna have some very big shoes to fill. And based on what I've seen, Chinese shows are getting less rather than more organic...

Oh boy...I've become very wary of monster age gaps. It's only great for writers because it cuts their work in half. They know a consummated relationship won't ever be taken seriously (esp if the female is barely legal), so instead fall back on passionless 'romance', friendship weirdness, and a cute ML who acts half his age. Either do the genre or don't do it at all, imo. The girl is older here though, far as I can tell, so that's promising.

THIS. The bgm is really good and the opening/ending are one of the best I've seen ever. The writing is pretty good but cinematic direction is what really stands out. Very refreshing and realistic. so far.

Sign me up lol. Microwaved idols turned actors is bad enough, and the MC's "relationship" went nowhere, was contrived, and felt totally overshadowed by DJ+MS's more mature second-chance romance, especially the results of it.

Ikr. Their scenes only take up maybe one episode, if that, but are far more realistic--Mi So sees CDJ staring into a store shop window (after his train lie)...then realizes what he was looking at. Now THAT'S the stuff good drama is made of.

CDJ+Mi So are way better than the otp. The latter are cringe imo.

And does NOBODY turn the lights off when they go to bed O_o?

...that give the recipients the personalities of the donor. The first time I saw this I stared into space. wondering what hard drug the writer was shooting and where I could get some.

Because only rich, abusive assholes can get the female lead. He's usually the sockless one with sunglasses bigger than his head, brightly colored pimp suits, and slacks that are 8 inches too short. The perfect male second lead who doesn't need fixing has to settle with bachelorhood or her friend, if he's lucky.

The SL couple is >>> more interesting FL couple imo. With all the acting talent in SK....*idols* >_>

I'm really confused as to why no melodrama tag because it's saturating imo. Not sure I get the hype with this one. Good storyboard and music though, I admit.

My only quibble with this is the director. With such an inherently emotive story you don't need to rely on exaggerated melodrama, esp when you have a team of good actors. Just play it straight. That said, it's way underrated in the ratings--wtf? And the orchestral bgm and outro are LIT.

The only thing worse than the mother is kdrama fans trying to defend with 'well, that's the way it is in Korea'. The woman was insane, regardless of the 'cultural lens' BS. There were a lot of problems with the writing but she was the biggest imo.

Pretty good acting all around but the dad (HJH) is amazing. Veteran actors have that visual magnetism...

My impression exactly--Disney musical vibe with intermittent rip offs of Master's Sun. I'm not feeling any chemistry here, probably because LSY>>>>>LSK. The best thing about this was the Police Officer LOL.
