"attached to the hip like that" HAHAHAHA. Novel fans will understand why I'm laughing at your quote LOL #Crystal…
Yeah it's hard to believe it could be worse but it is LOL. The only way it's slightly better is because she's less "vocal" (that's a subliminal hint). But honestly I don't even know how they'll adapt it because it would look SO awkward in live action LOL. They'll have to rewrite it.
But yeah the TS x HLN would have been so much better--even novel fans often agree she's best girl. She and TS spent nearly 1.5 years supporting each other /competing in Slaughter City, something they'll omit here..She loved him right up to the end, even defying Bibi Dong and SH for his sake.

Yup..the sacrifice was right on point too. The anime did a phenomenal job in adapting it--the visual of the two exploding domains made my jaw drop. Plus the flight from SH and the two fighting to the death. Possibly my favorite part of the whole thing. Edge of my seat the whole episode..
Yeah I really enjoyed the first three seasons of BTTH. Haven't read any source material though..
That's why I am onboard the Hu Liena & Tang San ship..I LOVE a bad b!tch and a good boy together hehe...it'll…
YES for HLN! In the novel she spends about 1.5 years with TS in Slaughter City, where they both get their Death God Domains. Something that'll be completely cut here no doubt..

Yeah I really enjoyed their relationship up to the point where "that" happens. She was stronger, had an indomitable spirit, and wasn't gonna let anyone come between them. Their youthful, doting romance had me sold. There was even quite a bit of skinship in there which I loved. Then she devolves into a damsel on steroids who conveniently benefits from all of TS's power-ups by free-loading. Ugghhh..
YES on Battle Through the Heavens! I can't wait for the 4th Season to start.
Sorry, I have to go on like an intense rant on Xiao Wu & Tang San's relationship. I honestly hate the relationship…
"attached to the hip like that" HAHAHAHA. Novel fans will understand why I'm laughing at your quote LOL #Crystal Blood Dragon Ginseng.
Let's just say... if you don't like her now you're gonna HATE her in S2, assuming it follows the novel at all LOL. As Onibro said, it makes far more sense in the donhua/novel because they've laid the foundation for the relationship--and I'm not even someone who likes their relationship either. It was pretty compelling in the first half, but tanked due to "events" in the second imo. It's my belief that a TS x HLN Romeo/Juliet pairing would have been WAY more intriguing. Also, Oscar x Ning Rongrong put TS x XW in the shade imo.
watched the new episodes. can someone tell me who is the giant-like new guy in ep.31 who came to fight TS??? He…
I'll probably take heat for bringing up another anime reference, but that scene with Tai Tan in the anime is one of the best in all of DD imo. He's the leader of the Strength Sect and is introduced after learning that TS defeated both his son and grandson LOL [His grandson, Tai Long, started hitting on XW and when she refused him he challenged TS lol] Tai Tan is level 84 and doesn't bully TS so they make a bet instead. The loser has to join their sect. Under his immense spirit pressure, Tai Tan sees an enormous spirit image of Tang Hao behind TS, then realizes TS's identity. It's soooo good. He becomes a VERY important character and his loyalty to Tang Hao is very moving. I can link you the anime scene if you want.
I think there are too many people here who are watching drama's with story line that they are not interested in.…
@OP - I disagree. This drama only started airing 10 days ago, according to MDL. Typically the first to show up are fangirls/boys that throw 10s at anything that moves. But the vast majority of more level-headed/objective watchers haven't even shown up yet much less rated, imo. 68% are still in the PTW category, so if anything this is still benefiting from those high-scoring early voters. And in any case, I believe the percentage who force themselves to watch things they don't like just to give a low rating is vastly overstated. Most people aren't that vindictive or masochistic. Imo they're probably dwarfed by the segment who are already interested in the genre or who've read the source material, but are disappointed by some aspect of the production but keep going hoping it improves..
Will this end on a cliffhanger considering there is a link to the sequel on MDL??
Probably LOL. Novel readers and I have posited that it will end at the Spirit Hall Continental Elite Tournament because it features probably the most epic character entrance in any medium. Huge spoiler, beware: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOkx0OrCD-g But with this drama who knows...
Seeing so many people complain about an 8.1 being a low rating on this site is so weird as an Asian American.…
Exactly. And most of the veterans I've known on MAL for instance, regard 7s as "exceptional" and 8s as "extraordinary", 9s being masterpieces. Even 6's are considered well above average, which makes sense numerically if you've seen hundreds of titles and you have to use the full scoring range. I've seen a ton of other dramas in the 7s on MDL that are masterpieces compared to this. Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon is only an 8.2 ffs LOL. Imo this is still way overrated.
Can we all acknowledge this drama is best described as 'inspired by' the source material, and drop all expectations…
If people are angry about comparisons to the source material now, they better buckle up. Hate to say it, but when the bulk of novel/donghua fans actually discover this drama it's gonna be a bloodbath. If one admonished fandoms in literature, film, and anime to "ignore the novel/manga" you'd literally get laughed off their boards. Try that in a Jane Austen forum LOL. The source material is better 90% of the time--duh. But that doesn't mean the original work should be a proscribed instrument for drawing comparisons when one exists. Personally, I think the foundation of DD has been so butchered that they should have rewritten the entire thing to better translate to live action. It's simply too long, too CGI intensive/demanding (esp the second half), and too censorship fertile. But even I'm surprised that they've been able to incorporate so many of the original elements. The problem is they've left huge holes in logic, which inevitably happens when original plot lines/characters are put on the chopping block and 'repurposed' for new ones. It's easy to say "ignore the source material" when you have no knowledge of an original work; much harder when you do.
My sincere advice for the uninitiated would be to watch the drama first! Then move on to the novel or donghua.
In the novel they meet as 6 year olds so they have 10 years to grow closer. It does seem very abrupt in the drama…
Exactly what Singularity said. Way more time is devoted to their development in the novel since they grow up together, making it more believable. So even though XW still uses "ge" they both know they've fallen by the age of 12 or even before, so the term is used in name only. In fact, in one of the more romantic moments, XW gets angry at TS for telling her he'd always protect his 'meimei' LOL. The other members of Shrek aren't fooled either and laugh when they try to hide the relationship--and that's not long after arriving at Shrek. In the first half of the novel, their romance is actually pretty damn good because XW is a better written character and there's the mystery about her identity. Sadly, it gets really bad in the second half imo. The Oscar x Rongrong pairing puts TS x XW COMPLETELY in the shade.
But yeah the TS x HLN would have been so much better--even novel fans often agree she's best girl. She and TS spent nearly 1.5 years supporting each other /competing in Slaughter City, something they'll omit here..She loved him right up to the end, even defying Bibi Dong and SH for his sake.

Yes, light years better imo. I can't stand her either. It's one of the worst parts of this drama.
