As an American this is hard to relate to--our divorce/single-parent rates are so staggeringly bad you'd have to live under a rock not to know lots of them. But in OSN it's like she's about to marry a serial murderer. The parental invasion into the FL's love life is even more ridiculous to us. So...when I say this is potentially the best Eastern drama I've seen yet, it just shows how good it's doing. I literally drop or FF 90+% of them but this has me glued. Please writer, don't screw this up...And please for the love of Gawd production committees, make more dramas like this lol.

Agreed. SHS isn't even saving this imo. The only thing redeeming is the music. Best drama of the year--wtf? Maybe I'm cooling on fantasy, idk. I'd give bonus points for a super ballsy tragic ending though lol.

And here I thought the anime community was toxic af. It's nothing compared to the SK drama fandom. You couldn't pay me enough to be a celebrity there. Retirement is practically synonymous with suicide.

This would have been better if they'd cut the romance out altogether. It's really challenging to throw an adorable/fluffy, almost purely comedic character into serious drama, especially as the lead love interest. My unedited opinion is that much of the praise showered on SHS belongs to L. His part is exponentially harder imo.

DOTS: All I know is that his Sgt buddy and the young female doctor had 10x better chemistry than the OTP lol.

Are young, single parents considered non-marriage material in SK, even today? And is the stigma worse for a male or female? And are parents this invasive in their (adult) sons/daughters marriage lives? Curious as to how much is 'drama' and how much is reality..

Indeed. I dig the FL's younger 'rebelious' sister and ship her with the ML's buddy hard. Great actress makes the character very real life. No one can pull the wool over her eyes lol.

Oh you can't imagine my relief! I bet the actress told production--"this better damn well be a better written mother..." LOL. In some respects, it's actually somewhat of an advantage watching OSN *after* SITR. The writer has definitely raised their game here.

That was EXACTLY how I felt. I often rewatch the organic realism that was the first half.....before it gets spoiled by the utterly uncompelling, unconvincing, plummet into mediocrity in the second. The comparison was...depressing lol.

Yeah and I think that's exactly what those coming from SITR fear-- it becoming all about HJM's father and his conspiring with Mr. Kwon. Oh well, we'll see. I'm just thankful it's more layered than SITR, conflict-wise.

It's funny--when I first saw the mother in OSN (unaware of the cast), my hair stood on end lol. Basically, the father here is similar to the mother in SITR. But the father here (bad as he is) isn't nearly as bad as the mother in SITR. She was in need of *serious* therapy.

Two major things in the second half, basically: first, a borderline psychotic, dictatorial mother (same actress here); and second, a doormat FL with very dubious 'development'. Still, I encourage people to watch it. The romance in the first half is GOAT tier and worth watching just for that. In fact, I almost prefer that OTP chemistry because it was more passionate. The Yamagata songs were fantastic too. The problem was, when you grow lilies in the first half, you better have damn good reasons/conflict to start pulling petals in the second. And #crazymother didn't cut it...

And we're not talking dependents here either--the kids are all successful. Do parents still act the overbearing arrangers of marriages in such cases, even today? I hope this drama doesn't follow in SITR's footsteps and make it all about the parents until the end...

My only beef with the soundtrack is the constant repetition. One of the tracks has been repeated 22 times--4x in one ep. Still...much more fitting than those in SITR. The background instrumentals though are fantastic.

Preach. It's criminally underrated and makes me wonder about the fandom, tbh. It stomps everything I've seen in recent memory. Hell, the remaining eps could bomb and I'd still give it an 8.4 LOL. Now if they would just bring back the other poster haha.
