I wanted to show you what is not fan service. This clip is not fan service. Fans are not allowed in the site so this is taken with a zoom lens and you can see the quality of their relationship is genuinely closed

Yes!!! I have had the same questions as you. I think we need to question these aspects. Agree that he is very smart, very savvy and I am not sure about his feeling about this brother. At moments, he looks really sincere towards him. Would he make a good ruler? He is very pragmatic but he is also very cruel too.

This is interesting, ZheXu walked the red carpet with other two actors that have been in Chinese BLs . I have not seen the other two BLs.

We have discussed a lot about this with @Rainbows and @River. In China an actor cannot come out as gay if they want to have a job in the acting profession. They will be blacklisted. So even if they are together, we will never know and we should not know too. Certainly, they are super close and committed to keep working as a CP which is lovely as I so enjoy watching their vblogs. I would like to add that my Chinese friends who live in China have told me that everything that CP actors do while there is a camera/mobile phone in front of them is considered fan service there. Couples in the acting profession carry their romance strictly in private.

In Thailand, Korea, China, even in Japan fan service is not a scam. Most is done while promoting a series and is playful and harmless. It is well known in these countries what fan services is. It is true that sometimes fans are plain silly and fell for it. In Korea think of K Pop, I never follow BTS but I understand Junkook is paired with V - famous Taekook, but others imagine Junkook is with Jimin irl, and those two shipper groups got to war about it. It is shocking . XuJin is lovely, I don't know what they are and honestly we should not care. It is their lives. I see them as my favourite comedy duo. Here in UK there have been famous comedy duos that have last for decades performing. They are funny, sweet, with a tremendous chemistry, so kind to each other. It does warm my heart. Which benefit would be for me to know they are a gay couple? none, on the contrary, because it would mean they will stop performing together. So why to push them to stop? Fan/followers should be caring towards the people they admire. You say is actors and agencies responsibility that this fans fell for it. In a way they are, but they trust that most of the followers are discerning people. There is a BL Thai blogger that says it very well: " I am the fan they are serving, fake or not, I don't care, I love it". Here you are not all shippers are blind.

indeed Y, there is a lot we dont know. I like your reasoning that he sacrified too much for this kingdom to not care or not even try. the other big question is what happens to the Prime Minister?

Indeed. Xu went to jin hotel when he was not there. Then went to set wait for him. They left together by 2 am when jin finished working both entered to the hotel but xu left to his hotel. They were so tired. I wonder if Xu would have rest there if not not for those people filming. In any case, my chinese friend who lives in China always tell me everything done when somebody is filming is considered fan service there. Real couples in the industry hide. XuJin both lives in Beijing so if they are real they will date without cameras. They used to do this before Kill to Love was released.

You will find one even more crazy in 'To my shore' when that chinese BL comes out lol!
There have been quite a few outrageous re-telling of narratives at this level. I am trying to remember one totally scandalous. It was a k-drama that should have been a BL. When I remember I will mention it to you.

Very interesting and valid points here River. The only that I would say is that ZiAng was regarded as a good Emperor, one with the vision. Being cruel and a conqueror do not grant anybody that positive reputation. Even ShuHe recongnised ZiAng qualities as Emperor.

Was Shu He an incompetent ruler? In a way, yes he was, but I want to reiterate that he also never stood a chance.…
Great analysis Yerisina, as usual. The first thing ShuHe did as King was grant a general amnesty, but to whom? People were discontent, is what ZiAng said, it takes a long time for people to build that dissatisfaction. Was he never really accepted as King for the way he reached the throne? maybe because he did not want war with the North? The draught was happening, if he was a compassionate King would he not take measures to provide relief as ZiAng later did? I think he governed half-heartedly; he moved with the motions. He looks quite depressed as well, so probably did not invest the best of his intellect and energy to that project.
