The premise of this drama had so much potential. But sadly, it didn't come anywhere close to fulfilling it. If you are mad GL drama fan, then watch it. If you're not, then I'd suggest you give it a miss, because honestly, it just isn't that good.
An enjoyable slice of life drama set in the 1970s. I thought the beginning and ending episodes were very good, but some of the middle episodes dragged a bit. But still I would recommend it to anyone who likes this sort of drama.
My biggest takeaway from this drama is just how oppressive and unpleasant the Communistic regime was back then. People were locked up or sent to a "re-education" camp for the for heinous crimes of owning the wrong book, selling a roasted sweet potato or expressing an "incorrect" opinion. Ability and merit are secondary considerations to politics, as leaders control almost every aspect of people's lives. It just seems terribly oppressive.
This plot had potential, but the writing wasn't great. The pacing was inconsistent and there were several plot holes big enough to fly the Death Star through. The production quality was generally good, but there were some sound issues in the earlier episodes. The acting from the actors playing the main characters was OK, especially considering they were inexperienced rookie actors. The main villain (Ran's Mother) was a bit of a two dimensional character and the actress playing her overacted in almost every scene. Having just pointed out all of those negatives, I still enjoyed the drama and I would still recommend it to fans of GL dramas. Just remember to switch off your brain and keep your expectations low, and you'll probably enjoy it. I should mention one positive regarding this drama. The lead actresses have excellent chemistry and their kissing scenes are some of the best I've seen in a Thai GL. I think the currently MDL score of 7/10 is fair.
You gotta understand that in most countries in the world, the age of consent is around 15/16, and the only reason…
You don't get to just change the definition of a word just to fit your narrative. The word means what it means. Dictionaries exist. You've used the word (incorrectly) for a single reason - its shock value. I have no problem at all with you commenting on, or even criticising drama subplots that you consider problematic or even offensive. If that is all you did, I would be perfectly fine with your comment. However, I have a very big problem when you go further to insult people you have never met for being "apologists" or "supporters" of paedophilia simply because they watched a show that contains an inappropriate (but NOT paedophilic) relationship . You watched and seemed to enjoy "Harmony Secret". That must mean that you are a supporter and apologist for corporate espionage, right? You've surely watched a movie at some point that contained a murder. Obviously that must mean that you a supporter and apologist for murder, right? Accusing a person of supporting something in real life because they happen to watch a drama that contains that thing is … how should I put it … its pretty weird dude.
I quite enjoyed this drama. The story was interesting and the production quality was very good. Sure, there were things I thought could have been done better (like there is in literally every drama I've watched), but I've learned to just enjoy a drama for what it is rather than focussing any perceived weaknesses. I thought "The Water" was a little bit better than "The Earth", and I'm hoping "The Air" and "The Fire" continue this upwards trend in quality. Lastly, I want to compliment both Engfa Waraha and Charlotte Austin for their growth as actors. I first saw them in "Show Me Love" in which their acting reflected their inexperience. In the last four years, both have developed into quite competent actors.

There are these things called "dictionaries". You can use them to look up the meanings of words that you don't know. Also, I checked the MDL user guidelines and I can confirm that no one is forcing you to watch dramas that you don't enjoy.
There is another Taiwanese Lesbian Dating show that is (in my opinion), MUCH better than this one. You can watch it on YouTube. Start here: https://youtu.be/bvTcs86iUw8
This is so bold review coming from someone who enjoys, fave and her Top GL series is BLANK, when the whole community…
I hate to break it to you, but you're not special. You don't get to gatekeep what other people can or cannot watch. You don't get to force your own twisted puritan ideology onto everyone else. So again, [Expletive laden insult deleted].

Firstly - [Expletive laden insult deleted] Second - No, the "whole" community were NOT disgusted by it. A relatively small, but very vocal section of the community, who feel entitled to be the gatekeepers of GL dramas were (or at least pretended to be) disgusted by it. Third - A paedophile is someone who is attracted to pre-pubescent children. In this drama, Anueng was 20 years old when she first met Nueng, and she was 21 years old when they started dating. My own mother was married at age 20, so if you think a person dating a 21 year old is a paedophile, then you are fucking stupid. Forth - No one forced you to watch "Blank". If the plot isn't to your personal taste, then skip it and find something else to watch. It really isn't that hard.
I do find it frustrating when writers cannot keep their characters consistent. Nam is supposed to be a super strict boss lady who doesn't take shit from anyone. But she's immediately intimidated by a new employee who pushes her around and manipulates her. It's not even close to believable. Either she's a tough, ass-kicking boss-lady or she's a weak, timid pushover. Which one is it? EDIT: After now finishing this drama, there is a plot twist which actually makes Nam's inconsistent behaviour understandable.
