The fact that this is still rated 8.0 is a disgrace... (should be little higher)
It should be much higher. I'm half way through it, and so far, it is as good as the original. Edit: I've now finished the drama and I still believe that this remake is as good as the original.
That 4 inch long hair sticking out of Burin's neck is quite distracting. If he doesn't want to cut it off, perhaps he should at least tuck it into his shirt.
I have to question the competence of police who find a body floating in a pool with bruising around the neck (which would have been the case if someone was strangled as we witnessed), and conclude it was suicide. Did they think she violently strangled herself?
The original "My Mister" is a masterpiece, one of only two dramas I've scored a perfect 10 until now (I've watched nearly 300 dramas). This remake is excellent, and is (in my opinion) as good as the original, and even slightly better in some ways. Marc Chao and Zhang Zi Feng are both brilliant in their roles, as good as Lee Sun Kyun and IU were in the original. The supporting cast are all very capable actors, which is not something I would say about most Chinese dramas I've watched. This is the best modern Chinese drama I've ever seen, and is the first Chinese drama I'll be scoring a perfect 10.
Honestly man, I think you're being way too pessimistic here. Just because something has been rare doesn't mean…
In Korea, A-list actresses just don't do full nudity (in Korean productions). They just don't. The closest you will find is Park Ji Hyun who filmed nude sex scenes for the movie "The Hidden Face", but that movie was filmed in early 2022, even though it was released in 2024, which was before Ji Hyun's career took off and elevated her to her current A-list status. In Korea, nudity is overwhelmingly performed by rookie actresses wanting to get a foot into the industry. Occasionally, a more established, but not particularly successful actress will take on such a role in the hope of giving her career a boost. Of course, body doubles and CGI can also be used these days.
I posted the following comment 4 months ago: ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "I'm very keen to see who Faye's partner will be. Assuming the actors are playing characters roughly their age, if Nina (age 45) has a daughter, then she's probably about Yoko's age (24). So I'm predicting Faye's new love interest will be about the same age as Yoko. Time will tell if I'm right or not." ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Four months later and I can see that I'm a really good guesser.
age gap is very jaring. even more so when you realize the lead actress could have easily given birth the lead…
I think you'll find the exact opposite is true. In general, people are much more comfortable with a male who is significantly older than a female in a relationship.
It absolutely blows my mind that in the year 2026, there are still places on earth where the parents of ADULT children force (or try to force) their ADULT children into marriage chosen by the parents. I also cannot reconcile parents who claim that their only goal is to ensure their child doesn't suffer, but then they behave that guarantees their child suffers. It's just stupid.
Sure, its a bit soap-opera-like and there are some pretty big plot holes, but its actually quite entertaining. Everyone who did wrong got what's coming, which is always fun to watch. Also, plenty of Botox on display with the older actors. 8.5/10
I'm finding Jiang Qiao Xi extremely frustrating, and I've only watched 4 episodes. Quite frankly, he's an arrogant dick. After cruelly mistreating Lin Ying Tao, he won't even apologise or make any effort to explain his previous poor behaviour. He just hangs around with his creepy smirk, being dismissive of Lin Ying Tao's feelings of annoyance towards him and ignoring her when she expresses her annoyance. He might be attracted to her, but he very clearly has no respect for her. I want to see some character growth from him. If he is given redemption (which of course he will be), I want him to earn it by, at the VERY LEAST, sincerely apologising to her. [Update] I'm dropping this mid-episode 5. Jiang Qiao Xi is annoying me too much, and from what I've read in other comments, worse is yet to come. With only so many hours in a day, and so many dramas waiting for me, I'm not going to waste more time on a drama that I'm not really enjoying.
This movie is mentioned in episode 9 of "Reply 1988". I just found it on some obscure porn site and speed-watched it. It was pretty terrible. Actually, it was very terrible. It also wasn't particularly "erotic" by today's standards. The only nudity shown in the entire movie was one brief shot of a topless Caucasian woman. There were several sex scenes, but you couldn't see anything as the scenes were very dark, and the actors weren't still clothed. About the most erotic thing was the moaning during the sex scenes. The "Extreme Sexual Content" tag on this page is a joke, put there by someone who clearly hasn't seen the movie.
Very low budget, poorly acted, average cinematography, terrible music, mediocre plot that did nothing more than make an excuse for lots and lots and LOTS of sex. The actors committed to the sex scenes, but they weren't particularly well acted, choreographed or filmed. This movie barely qualifies as a "mainstream" movie - it is very close to just being a soft-core porno, and a pretty crappy one at that. There are so many things you could watch that are much, much better than this. I understand that rookie actresses like Park Se Mi will accept such a role to try to lift her career out of obscurity, and get noticed among the crowds of other actresses competing for a limited number of roles, but I have to think that in conservative Korea, her choice to film just a role is just as likely to hurt her career than help it.
Edit: I've now finished the drama and I still believe that this remake is as good as the original.
