What's the problem with the two main guys being "unlikable?" That just means there is room to watch…
I see nothing "unusual" about the two male characters honestly I've seen it many times before. The only thing unusual is the 2nd female character I rarely ever see refreshing cool and interesting one such as Sun Ah.
Alright... I just finished episode 10 and it seems my complaints have been heard because not only they gave it…
I haven't glared at anyone, I'm having healthy arguments here. You've stated your point and I've simply replied you back with mine :)
I'm the same I expect so much from actors and I also want to be convinced. It takes so much for an actor to impress me and I believe YSH is doing great job. I understood your argument but I respectively disagree. He has been doing brilliant job in convincing which is why I got to understand the character structure and moved on from the default expectations we have for such plots. If it isn't for YSH's acting I wouldn't have understood what JS is about. I'm completely believing him specially at his vulnerability to the point that I want to protect him. Excellent job on the writer's side for creating such a character with so much realistic sense to it. I don't want a HERO. I want to "feel" what someone in that situation would be feeling and I'm feeling it all the way.
What you've said about YSH not making you believe him, I feel the same thing with Nam Gung Min he is the biggest flaw of the drama. I loved what (bmore) have said (cartoon villain) EXCELLENT selection of expression. I completely agree it's so hard for me to watch his scenes to the point where I want to skip them because they feel so FAKE to me. Him trying too hard is really a turn off (and believe me I ADORE such characters ex. Lee Joon in Gap Dong).
" Flashbacks of happy memories with daddy, few tears here and there" you do realise that his father is jailed and sentenced to death and told him "I HAVE NO SON" don't you? I'm sorry but there isn't much I can say here regarding this point I honestly feel you are not doing yourself justice if you continue watching this drama (if it's not delivering to you the feelings that it should be delivering then it's just a waste of time for you). This is a crucial point in the drama o_O
Now about YSH
I LOVE IMAGINARY CAT :D ehm moving on lol I've seen this kid as a little actor and as an adult and he never ever disappointed me neither as a kid actor nor as an adult. His talent is a rare gem no actor breaks my heart in a crying scene as much as YSH does. His tears is I feel them all in it kills me when I see him cry I just want to rush there and protect him I'd be like "DON'T make him cry or I'll djkshkjfhkdfdbsfhkhfks you" ( #`⌂´)/┌┛*kicks*. This sounds silly but that is how he sincerely makes me feel. He is a great talent even with bad dramas like Operational Proposal you can enjoy his acting. If you want recommendation I recommend Missing You (my fav. character for YSH).
I wish Jin Woo was a bit smarter. It's kind of frustrating that he's always a few steps behind =(
First are you referring to plot flaws or are you disappointed about JW's character behavior? Which one is it? Because if it's the first one I never said the plot is flawless I have my own discovered flaws in the plot. However if it's the latter one then I'm absolutely not disappointed by JW's character and his behavior it all makes sense to me. Why is that? Because I have moved on from the "default" character I've set for myself for such plots. I have moved on from the defult character I've set and expeted in this drama. At first I was like you guys but then I analyzed it and tried to look beyond what I've expected. You are all expecting a GENIUS HERO someone that will kick their butt but instead got his kicked! Someone that would be witty enough to not fall for any trap they set for him and can actually turn the table on them but instead you got a lost desperate boy being played by them and we see him being slaughtered alive right in front of our eyes! The writer never misled you into believing so it's our expectations that did. The first ep where everybody claims that JW was genius but then he became stupid. I don't recall seeing anyone GENIUS in the show just because he can remember in details and when he gambled won money does not make him a genius. How is that related to being smart too smart to anticipate their every move? Also after all what has happened to him why did you all assume that he will get smarter and come back with bad'ss character and CONCUR them all? Why did you expect his character to develop in this way? Because he said so? Because he has prepared for the fight for 4 years? Why are you not taking into consideration that he is just a boy who lost his father while he is actually alive? A boy who is going through that disturbing misfortunes and great injustice. Bottom line His character has developed in a way we don't like it it's not wrong it completely makes sense to me and I understand why the writer has done him in this way. I can see and understand why he would behave in that way because as I said I've moved on from my expectations. JW's character is one of the remarkable characters and character development I've seen in drama because it's not what I've expected to see in plots such as this I can't believe how brilliantly the writer forced me to think outside the box here. I for one love his character:)
Alright... I just finished episode 10 and it seems my complaints have been heard because not only they gave it…
I meant that just because GM is doing a supreme job (according to you) it could not possibly put YSH in bad spot (side effect as you mentioned). Only YSH can put YSH in bad spot (in your wording poor leading). Is it clear now? ^^
At first when I watched the first ep I was thinking "what happened to YSH what happened to his acting skills?" at first I was like you, but then as I went on with the story from ep 2 I started analysing his character and getting to understand it more then I realised it's not YSH it's the character that I didn't understand and that's why something felt odd at first. Now I completely understand it and I see YSH is scary EXCELLENT at portraying JW. I'll explain why, you said you didn't feel "despair" why is that? He felt helpless to you right? (injured helpless puppy)? That's it that's the point right there YSH then has succeeded in portraying the character. I think many of you are being misled or confused and it makes sense I was too. You are confusing his character you believe that it was suppose to be bad'ss smart witty and can turn the table on them, but its not. This confusion I wish I can tell everyone here that it's not the case. First of all JW's character is supposed to remember every little detail (photographic memory/ hyperthymesia) what is that have to do with being extraordinary GENIUS? Yes he's smart NOT extraordinary smart not the "smart" that you guys think it is. His character is supposed to be determined and set at saving his father and taking vengeance (I'm guessing we've watched too many show like that, to the point that we made a default for this character) and what happened is that YSH's character turned out to be not what we had in mind (default) not what we've expected and not what the description misled us to believe. Not the character we wanted, it's all about the character DoHani not YSH.
Now for the character, I completely understand why the writer made it in this way actually I'm really appreciating it. A boy goes through all that, loses his father all of a sudden nobody is listening to him he doesn't know what's going on, he doesn't know why his father is forgetting things, he doesn't know what to do, he has no one to rely on, THE WHOLE NATION is pointing fingers at him and his father he DID NOT have a moment to take deep breath and think who on earth would be in their right mind?! He was completely helpless how can you not understand why he was helpless? How does it not make sense to you? He then goes witnesses a horrible corruption, betrayal, back stabbing and a judgement that his father is to be hanged and is officially convicted!! Not just that his father has Alzheimer but that also was slipped away from him in the court as if the fact that his father will be forgetting about him eventually is not mental break down on its own. You know what? If I left home late and know that I have not enough time to catch my plane when I finally reach the airport I might loss my wallet I might loss something or I might be schemed off by the driver just because I was mentally focused on not losing the plane it doesn't matter how smart I am in desperate situations honestly if I able to at least "think" that would be a hell of a good job from my side let alone act. In JW's situation we are lucky that he is able to "do" something. Who can possibly be a bad'ss in the way you want him to be after going through all that. Most importantly HIS FATHER FORGOT him imagine your parent forgets you ever existed, didn't his emotional and mental desvistation result in his weakness? Why do we assume that it should result in his strength? he is human what person can survive that and be a bad'ss. I blame it all on the "default" we set for those kinds of plots we demand those kinds of characters so we can feel the glorious feelings of victory instead of frustration. We don't want to bare with JW and understand him because it is frustrating to do so. I can't believe I'm the only one who sees this and understands this character. As I mentioned in my prior comments this is a brilliant BRILLIANT job from the writer's side!! I give an applause for such brilliant job making JW's character humane and realistic. At the same time I feel sorry for the writer because sadly his character is being greatly misunderstood :(
You guys felt the character's helplessness, weakness (which I saw it as strength for reasons I've explained) and vulnerability because YSH has done terrific job into making you believe so. The thing is that wasn't lack of acting that was "the character".
I hope I helped ^^
Alright... I just finished episode 10 and it seems my complaints have been heard because not only they gave it…
I could say the same thing, YSH may come of as a poor lead actor because Gung Min is overdoing it, and nothing good ever comes from overdoing things. However DoHani I see no base behind that point why? An actor can outshine can overshadow others in the show yes but he/she can't lead the audience into thinking that others are "acting poorly" only the actors themselves can lead to that. If someone is doing a better job it doesn't make the other person (who is doing less of a good job) be marked as "bad job" because someone is doing better. Do you get what I mean? Only if he/she are really doing bad job then they are doing bad job it has nothing to do with the concept of who is doing better imho.
Funny thing though I find YSH so amazingly convincing of his character, maybe because I understand his character. It seems to me people are not quiet "getting" his character so it is translated as a "poor leading" when in fact that's how the character should behave and how its structured. I sincerely think the problem here is the lack of understanding to his character.
Thanks for the reply btw this is interesting :)
I wish Jin Woo was a bit smarter. It's kind of frustrating that he's always a few steps behind =(
When your father's life is at stake here you will hold on to last piece of thread and last shred of hope no matter how much that may be stupid or risky. To him that witness means his life and his father's life I would choose to blindly trust him with the slight chance of hope that he may be sincere than lose him as eye witness and do nothing. It's not that he didn't know he surely wanted to believe him people need hope to keep going and fight the fight he can't just go on thinking "EVERYONE is going to betray me therefore I should never try". I don't know about you guys but I think the writer is doing an excellent impressive job with Jin Soo's character and this is why this drama is getting attention and high TV ratings, it's not the plot as much as it's how real the characters feel specially Jin Soo.
Alright... I just finished episode 10 and it seems my complaints have been heard because not only they gave it…
I've seen Sensory Couple, I've seen Alice and I've seen 2 more dramas for him, I know him I've seen enough of him.
I wasn't talking about the character I'm will aware of what kind of character it is and how it should be played. I was referring to his "acting skills" not the character's behaviour. I sincerely felt he is trying too hard to convince me that he is the "spoiled untouchable wealthy asshole with anger management issues". I want to feel that the character is him but he keeps reminding that this is just "acting" with the "trying too hard" expressions of his.
I wish Jin Woo was a bit smarter. It's kind of frustrating that he's always a few steps behind =(
That's what keeps this show realistic to some point to me. His father was at stake his only family member! The corruption he has witnessed the injustice the betrayal the frustration he's going through and went through!! Who wouldn't lose it who wouldn't rush things who wouldn't act irrational and hasty and stupid at times!! The son who wants to take revenge and saves his father this kind of plot has been done before but they always tend to make the character too smart and witty and too perfect. For once they are actually giving it some realistic sense. God only knows how would I be acting if it was my father I know for sure that Jin Woo's actions would be far too SMART for me I would be too devastated mentally and emotionally to think straight.
So many complaints about YSH's acting none for Nam Gung Min am I the only one who thinks he is overacting here? He is way over the top, to me it looks like he is trying TOO HARD to convince me way too hard
i cant count how many times i have gone to the show's page but closed it right after. should i watch this show?…
This show is getting high ratings in Korea it reached 19% and that doesn't happen often, this says that it at least deserves a chance doesn't it? Try it, if you felt you can't handle it simply stop watching :)

This very good drama I wouldn't watch a drama based mostly on business it's not interesting genre to me, yet I liked this one it did not get draggy or boring at any point it was worth my time. Jang Hyuk was brilliant.
I'm puzzled as to why Seung Ho committed himself to doing this drama. Perhaps he had a personal interest in the…
Thank you for replying and agreeing on that point. As someone who lost her cat I could not see anything but JH and Bok Gil in this drama. To me those two were flawless as someone who's been there I was emotionally and mentally connected with this drama in every way possible. The chemistry between those two was so effortlessly breathtaking. I do understand your point Displacedmoon but sadly this type of drama even if it is perfectly crafted in every way it will still won't sell here. I'm really glad they decided to go for it regardless of the gain YSH how much more can I even love you. Thank you for not dropping it :)

That's just proves how great of an actor he is, it's not always about the best script and the best project and the mind blowing story. To me that is what differentiates actors and the way I look at them and the way I think of them. Simple "heartfelt" stories such as this one can bring happiness to so many people in a way a regular drama doesn't. I for one am truly very thankful for this drama I'm sincerely grateful for YSH for "donating" this drama to us. This drama means so much to me and with every bittersweet feelings I went through while watching it I owe it all to the writer and YSH and the cat. How can meaningful projects such as this which cause happiness to some ever be waste of talent. I only wish other actors would learn from him and selflessly donate something as beautiful as this one from time to time even if it may not add anything to them professionally somethings can't be priced.
