Well, even in ITSAY just one the onscreen couple is actually gay, so yes, you are right. In the 200-strong Thai BL actors pool maybe like 10 are actually gay. Which is pretty accurate to the distribution in general population.

Especially in GMMTV because they do not want actors to catch any actual feelings and cause private-to-public dramas. They intentionally want to avoid hiring gays because of business issues. They still have a few, but that is it.

So the only question is whether the “chemistry” is there or not.

There is a Thai BL series called Payback from a GMMTV's competitor that shows how things work in huge media companies like GMMTV.

Well, not exactly like that at all but you get my point.

That is pretty sad because Perth as a person is mellow, warm, tender, caring. He is treating Santa, who is a gentle crybaby that invokes people's protective insticts, very well. You can not imagine a better partner.

Speaking of Perfect 10 Liners, there they have made Aou lad (of AouBoom “BL couple”, also known from We Are) to play a psycho. This is just what GMMTV scenarists do to the actors when they can not come up with anything more decent.

The series is the same as Perfect 10 that followed it because it also has a script written by GMMTV's shared ownership cousin, which is Thai's biggest alcohol industry monopoly.

Utterly GROSS what they brainwash their youth with, normalising alcoholism the whole time.

Also, the unintentional LOL the series has produced was when they had body doubles for Satan and his on-screen partner at the time for standing (!) on skateboards.

Also, the lad might be the cutest bunny in the whole GMMTV squad.

As to bigger roles, he always got casted in the “main role” category in two series, and this type of contract pays quite well.

To be clear, it is understandable that he has wanted to complete his swimming career, but he was nowhere near to the worldwide level. You would have to live off hormones and you would look mutant like Michael Phelps looked like. From what I have seen the lad never looked like a monstrosity.

This poses the question if his decision was right or not. Financially and strategically, it is certainly the latter, but, as I mentioned in my first post, he loved swimming just too much.

It is even kind of cute because he chose his passion over more money and more time for success in his acting career.

I am also from a Western culture and yet it is always funny to me that whatever the West thinks is proper and due at any moment is how it should be elsewhere.

Especially ridiculous with the whole trans thing the West has discovered like five seconds ago on the historic scale all while other places like Thailand had simar but different concepts since forever.

As to reviews, my approach to them is to have fun with this utterly unrealistic BL genre by pretending I expect the events to make sense and be realistic.

That results in pretty long pedantic ramblings about every silly thing I notice. Pretty bad for a proper review, but kind of unusual from what I can see.

Sadly, I am not able to do weekly reviews because I have unpredictable schedule. So I end up watching series in their entirety later.

As I mentioned, this Thai cultural phenomenon is distinct from “trans woman”, which is a Western concept. And Jenny has repeatedly expressed the stances on the issue that do not fit into the Westen high horse about dictating the rest of the world what things should be called.

But unless he plans to become a swimming trainer or something, it is only for a few short years of your peaks form, and then you will have to do something else.

Acting is also just a temporary job for most actors in the industry as they retire about the age 35-40.

Perth’s character is a psychopatic criminal that assaults innocent people for no reason, so he belongs to jail for years. Though his whole family is corrupt and criminal.

And Santa’s character is written to be covering this all up by using his connections to the rich and powerful to break the law and let the criminals go.

NOT A FAN of PerthSanta characters here, they are truly horrible.

He was cute in LBC2 so he could have the career running years earlier if not the swimming. But, apparently, he was into sports too much for that.

In Thailand it is basically illegal to do anything artistically with a royal around controversial subjects, so films and series choose to not depict the royal at all.

So this series is only showing fictional events around an extended royal family.

The series seems to be about how two lads have lost 15 years of their lives by not actually meeting and practicing love. The situation shown has happened in history many times and the only way that it was solved and made sense is the could just continuing to meet for years privately, often never exposed and with no scandals during their lives,

The mother back in the day would not suspect anything if the boys would sleep together as shown in the series in the beginning. The lads have grown up together very close and it does not have to mean anything “inappropriate” at all.

In fact, in almost all of mankind history males and females alike were sleeping together often on the same bed as they did not mid proximity, used to it due to cramping conditions be in the past generations or currently.

WHAT? Servants were never allowed to wear the same uniform as princes.

WAIT, how come the psychopathic sibling did not know that high class families have pre-arranged marriages, and why he would question the decisions of his father? Importable for the time and the stratum. It is also impossible that the main lad would not have known about this since childhood.

WHY the servant is being jealous and possessive about the prince? He has known from his early childhood that the prince will marry, and most likely with pre-arranged marriages with multiple wives. His behaviour in the series is not believable at all.

Back in the 1930s the competing faction was progressives, but nationalists. Especially funny to see the military represented to be as progressives. When they come to power the nationalists have modelled themselves after fascist Japan and was doing lots of bad things, as expected, including banning Chinese minority, their culture, language and even their names: they were forced to rename themselves in Thai language so by now you can only guess who is Chinese by their looks.

WHY the maid explains to her 30 (!) year old sevant son what the concept of master is and his reputation? He knows it all from being a child,

LOL, for each of four times the couple had moments of intimacy in the first four episodes they were caught or seen first by the servant’s mother, then by the prince’s father, then by a princess, and then by the psycho sibling.

WAIT, did scientists forget that the princes knew in the first place that the prince does not love her? The drama about her discovering the prince's kissing his former servant is made up out of this air.

WHAT? Not only everybody and their uncle already witnessed the lads’ “secret” relationship with their own eyes, but now the servant’s mother is telling about it to hostile people on her own volition?

You would not lose consciousness right away just from being shot in the forearm, unlike how it is shown in the series.

The production of the setting is overall great, but the hospital is from the 21st century.

The story is supposed to be about epic romantic larger than life love, and yet the servant is using the naice prince for his revolutionary goals. That is really low and kind of contradicting the true love narrative.

The only compatible way to do this story would be doe the servant retire from the revolutionary commeettee or to break apartdrol the prince until the revolution occurred.

The scar the makeup artidtid have made for the servant looks nothing like from a cut.

The prince is supposed to be a bright mind but he is written to be obtuse about what the servant is doing with the whole revolution thing.

It is too convenient for scriptwriters that the servant all of the sudden did not confirm his love for the prince so he could not have heard the reassurance of what actually happened.

It makes no sense that the prince family has immediately forgot about all the honour and dignity they supposed to have to help the evil sibling to illegally avoid jail. The prince reaction is also weird because the evil sibling has tried to kill his lover, let alone a thief.

The only dignified way this could go would be for the evil prince to go to jail the full term. As is the character are not consistent.

Even right after the revolution and in an urgent sale the palace would have costed way more than 100K in 1932 baht money.

WHAT? The old prince thinks that the Siamese revolution was about turning the country communist? LOL, was the exact opposite as they have installed a fasdist military dictatorship.

WAIT, why the servant’s mother think that the royal family lives in poverty now because of her son and the revolution, and the prince grandmother does not argue against it even as if it makes any sense? The whole issue came from the theft by the evil sibling.

Scenarists should never use lines like “you lost right” if the actors do not look like that.

The evil sibling is not just evil hit stupid and cowardly, but in the end he is shown to all of the sudden risking his life to fight.

I have got the feeling of anxiety while watching the most of the series waiting for something bad to happen, and the ending did not betray the expectations.

There is some realism in the sad ending, though either they have reverted it in an unbelievable way. Why would be some mysterious villagers snatch one half-dead body of a random military person among dozens in the battlefield after undressing him so his uniform would be left there?

THE GREAT parts of the project:

1. attention to detail in historic setting and props is very good, super impressive, actually.

2. The music and the song are very strong, match very well, performed impeccably.

3. The actors are all great, and the main couple is acted a 100% believable. The GL couple, too. Even the two roles that did not match the setting, the father prince and the evil sibling are actually perfectly capable actors that had fully believable performance when they were not instructed by the director to turn on a hysterical fit.

4. The dialogues are written very well, it was a pleasure to follow them. This is where the scenarists held a high bar in their craft impressively.

5. The script is flawed in many ways, but the pacing is great, there is no filler, it is never boring. This is not a BL series, but rather a drama series with a BL aspect.

Yes, I was SHOCKED, stunned and struck when I first has seen him last year. The lad in unreal, he is a dream, even his voice is unearthly.

The lad also looks innocent, angelic, gentle, graceful, elegant. Invokes protective “hug and guard” instincts.

But this image with divine beauty eyes and everything, I guess, limits his range as an actor because you can imaging him playing kind and loving characters, but not evil and cunning monsters.

Though most leading actors in BL never get to play villains anyway regardless if they are fit for that or not.

But maybe we will get to see that, say, in twenty years when he will retire from the genre and will be able to play other kinds of roles.
