In the book he slept with FL to get over 2FL when they were in uni. She got pregnant and had an abortion but did not tell him as she lost her trust in him. She is the one who breaks up with him after he is kissed by his secretary at 2FL wedding ( he went along with the kiss). Lots of other things but he did grovel a lot to get her back

We as a viewers can see that he is trying to prioritise FL, but FL can’t because she only see what is happening in front of her and it is not good. From keeping secrets to walk down the aisle to carrying 2FL to his car, and many other events like that. After a while, i am not sure how anyone can see his care for FL, because he is never was and never is there for her since they moved to HUlu
