In a state of perpetual exhaustion

I think that at its core, the whole drama is really about three - ZYZ, ZYC and Li Lun. Their fate, their choices,…
Exactly! The hetero romance is an add-on. Yes, it's there. But it's not really the focus. This feels like a male-centric drama, not necessarily BL, but more bromance-oriented like Mysterious Lotus Casebook. There's romance but that's pretty much just a subplot. Funny, Chen Duling also plays Li Lianhua's ex-lover in that drama.

I think it's not just about that. When it is the others arc, zyc also have a very significant screentime and storyline…
But that's the thing, I don't think she was supposed to be developed or even part of the story at all. I had the same discussion about the Baize goddess and Baize token thingy. They don't seem to have much use in this world. After they got the token, it was hardly used. It was a macguffin that moved the plot forward in the beginning. But once they got it, that was the end of it. If the goddesses and their powers hold any real significance in this world, they would have had a vital role in fighting demons and Wen Xiao would've used her powers every chance she got. But the token is pretty much just a flute, something she can use to bind demons when it's convenient and most of the time, she can only use it with Zhu Yan helping her. We don't really know what it does beyond that.

Are there people actually complaining about this? Hands down the past couple of episodes have been the best. Zhou…
Yep. Many have been complaining that this story arc is boring, saying that the drama should get back on track because Yichen's story is not important to the plot. I suppose they just want everything to focus on the romance or Zhu Yan. But this is also about Zhu Yan and his relationship with Yichen. Their partnership is vital to the plot.
On Fangs of Fortune Nov 12, 2024
I know there are people who are complaining that the drama has deviated from the plot and focused too much on Zhuo Yichen. The thing is, Yichen is as vital to the plot as Zhu Yan and Wen Xiao. He is a natural foil for Zhu Yan's character. He's the one who possesses a demon-slaying sword that can destroy Zhu Yan. The fact that his ancestor is Lord Bingyi, the god of the yellow river in Chinese mythology and Zhu Yan is either the reincarnation or descendant of Ying Long, the dragon god, means that their relationship is one of the foundations of this story. It's obvious from the first episode that the bromance between these two characters will become a focal point of the story later on. Yichen losing the Cloud Light sword and finally reaching a tacit understanding with Zhu Yan is the author's way of telling the viewers that a compromise can be reached between two hostile parties and that enemies can indeed turn into friends if they only bother to understand where the other is coming from. This is also an essential part of Yichen's character development. Each of the characters get their character arcs, it just so happens that this story arc is Yichen's. And if you need further proof of the importance of the bond between both men, the latest episode established that Zhu Yan will do anything to save Yichen. He even promised to no longer seek death, their previous agreement of Yichen killing him already forgotten. This drama has always been about found family and friendship, the romance has never been the focus. It is but one aspect of the story.

They have taken the most good looking people and put them all in this show.. like every single one of them except…
I already answered this on your other post. 😄 Li Lun is tall and dark-haired, Fei, the calamity demon, has silver hair. If anything, Fei looks more like the mountain god, Ying Lei, who has blond hair. Fei won't even hurt a fly if he can help it. He can never be the villain. All he wants is to be happy and free, and live together with the woman he loves.

You mean Li Lun? No he's not as old as the original goddess. The great demon who partnered with the original goddess…
He's not evil in any way. He loves humanity and the mortal world. He hates that he cannot help his own nature because he doesn't want to harm people at all. He's probably the nicest demon in this whole drama.

You mean Fei? He's the calamity demon not a tree demon. Li Lun is the pagoda demon.

Confused..So this green tree main villain, he is as old as the original goddess then shouldn't he be the big bad…
You mean Li Lun? No he's not as old as the original goddess. The great demon who partnered with the original goddess was Cheng Lei. Li Lun is around the same age as Zhu Yan. They were chosen to protect the Wilderness together.

That egg scene was a hard one to film….I actually remember when the fan sites shared this the day of filming:…
What???!! They wouldn't have dared do that to a more popular actor for sure! Poor Jiarui must've just taken it like a man and not complained at all. They also submerged him in freezing cold water in the midst of winter!

It was never romantic between WX and ZYC. She even called him XiaoZhou which means little Zhou. She (and ZYZ both)…
This made me laugh out loud! Hahaha

I just realized….WenXiao gives XiaoZhuo a hug. Poor ZhuYan. 🤣🤣 Dude can’t kiss nor get a hug so I guess…
Nah, that was the hug of a loving and concerned sister. If you notice Hermione was the same with Harry. But she and Ron were always so awkward together. When you like someone and you're not officially a couple yet, it's harder for you to show your affections to them because it feels awkward. She and Yichen grew up like siblings. She's more familiar with him but her feelings for him are purely platonic.

Pei sijing has always been about the cold hard truth nd doing whats necessary irrespective of personal feelings.…
This! She even killed her own brother because she thought he was an evil demon. Her reaction to Yichen turning into a violent demon was on point.

I was very hesitant to watch MJTY, I am still hesitating a bit, because I'm not into romance-centric dramas and I'm not exactly a fan of the FL. But for Rui2x, I'll try. lol

He does have that Cheng Yi swag to him when in costume, but also Cheng Yi's silliness out of costume. 😄 He should play Cheng Yi's brother in a drama, that would be fun to watch. Looks like I will finally watch My Journey to You. 😂

I think there will be a time that zyc will be forced to kill zyz just like bingyi killed yinglong
He won't. Yichen has become a demon himself, he knows what it's like to lose control and hurt people indiscriminately. If Zhu Yan dies later on, it won't be because Yichen killed him. Besides, do we actually know for sure Bingyi killed Ying Long? We still haven't seen that flashback yet, after all. I guess we'll find out.

That last scene was written by the same person who wrote the initial episodes. You cannot convince me otherwise.…
I think this was written by Guo Jingming himself. He knows what it's like to be adulated by the masses and then torn down and ruined for life because of one mistake. This felt personal.
On Fangs of Fortune Nov 12, 2024
Can't help but think that what happened to Yichen is a kind of analogy for what Guo Jingming went through himself. Like Yichen, he was a celebrated young author who won awards for his best-selling works. And then he was accused and proven guilty of plagiarism, ruining his reputation for life. He was able to bounce back from it but that incident has haunted him since. So I feel that dialogue between Li Lun and Yichen stems from his own experiences. "When people knock down a divine statue and trample and spit on it, they never get it up and kneel before it to worship it again." I'm not saying this to defend Guo Jingming or even claim he wasn't guilty of those accusations because I don't really know the truth. Maybe he was, maybe he wasn't. But that's not my point. I'm just saying perhaps the reason why this scene was so very well written, acted, and executed was the fact that it comes from something real and personal to the author. You write what you know, so to speak.

And when Li Lun couldn't turn YiChen's head by himself, he called him as Bai Jiu, the bastard. Any low trick is…
Yes. And you see Yichen stopping in shock and then tearing up in anger as he walks away. Very well executed scene!

Tian Jiarui, where have you been all my life?! 😄 The boy can really act and I realized that I love watching him on screen. He has such a magnetic presence. And the fact that he only debuted as an actor last year is impressive to me. Kidding aside, that scene between Yichen and Li Lun is incredibly powerful. That is definitely the highlight of this episode. It is indeed true that humans are fickle creatures. One minute you're worshipped and idolized, the next minute you're despised and turned into an outcast. I won't delve deeper into that as someone else has already explained that scene better, so I'm just going to talk about how both Yan An and Jiarui perfectly acted that scene. That exchange made Li Lun a more sympathetic villain and Yan An succeeded in making him more relatable despite all the despicable things he had done. So kudos to him! 👏 Jiarui knocked this role out of the park! I thought his dramatic scene with Minghao was already his best performance in this drama but I was mistaken. He did better in this scene with Yan An. He, Yan An, and Minghao have such great chemistry together, they play off one another pretty well.

Like others have said, there isn't anything quite like it in C-dramaland. But it does have some things in common…
It is one of the best C-dramas I've seen to date. Maybe those who didn't like it were disappointed that there's no romance and the shifts from comedy to drama and back again can be weird. Also, the acting can be very theatrical at times so maybe they were turned off by it. But the world building is great, the story is rich, and the characters are colorful. I had a great time watching it. Minghao plays the coolest character in that drama hands down!
