Well some may feel that this production gave a lot more screen time for YK and LuDa, where in their novel, both their roles are just plot devices and happenings that inconveniences the couple. For those who are not aware, this is common for c industry, sometime special crafted screentime is given for popular actors or new actors to show case their talents in the drama.
Intially I did wonder and wish they have added more of the political plots since it’s 40ep., but well, it is what it is.
I am still overall satisfied as the script writer and the whole team did try to show us a story that make sense.

Unpopular opinion on SML, YK and human villian, LuDa…

Yup, it made sense and the production team dedicated the last two eps. to give us lots of their lovey dovey scenes🥰, so it’s good👍🏻.

I wish we could see more of DX’s sword in action, the set up but very little follow through on that.
The script tries to follow closely with all the themes/happenings written in the novel but simplified the political arc, which made sense as this is after all a romance focus story.
From the last 10 ep., I felt it would have been better if they edit and cut more of the previous arc, so it didn’t feel rush at the end.
The director did give us a beautiful wedding scene and also an HE in the additional 6mins, don’t miss that.
The immortal choose to intervene and gave both HSM and DX their new life. The novel written a more elaborated backstory about why the immortal choose to intervene, it’s partly due to He Jia FengYi’s relationship with her. She is touch by the stubbornness and sufferings of the mortals.

Okay I finished the whole series…for what it is, I am satisfied with the ending, it’s realistic to this story. And I felt the script try to follow the novel ending by giving an additional 6mins ep. to appease the novel readers. lol!

Agreed. I felt they could have cut some of the ep from previous arc, then the last 10ep didn’t feel so rush.

I feel that when they reached ep 35, the director realised they have to complete the plotline…so edit and infer🤷🏻‍♀️

Ep 37, because of censorship, the script here can’t mention that HSM cannot bring DX to see FXY is because he died without Obession so he is immediately gone to the rebirth cycle.
Ep 38, that’s a nice fight between HSM and YK and how they gave YK a little redemption arc. lol!
Beginning ep 39, I knew it was CY, that’s octopus soul following HSM and save her.

Okay, I caved, paid the express, finishing this, left 2 more ep.
Ep 36-38, events happened really fast with deaths. I am impressed that even with the fast pacing, this director bothers to give space for grief. The script here definitely cut off many political storyline, which is understandable.

In ep 36, it’s infer by different conversation, first DX heard it from He Jia FengYi, then YK mentioned it to LuDa, and then HSM and JiangAi.

Sure. I may not purchase the express, so will just watch based on the daily release ep. Today’s ep 36, happened fast and they really put a couple of plotline in one ep😅

Yeah, hope to get some answers in next ep. YWH really shouldn’t be more powerful, as LWY is now ‘Deity’, so how can she be easily defeated. lol! Eager to find out what’s next for this plot.

A League of Noblemen is also a fun watch, his brotherly relationship with Song Wei Long is pretty nice🥰. Enjoy!

Regarding ep 35, I am not comparing, but I preferred how it was managed in the novel. HSM found out about DX’s deteriorating senses and she didn’t use that as a reason to leave him. But in the drama, they have to shorten and merge that story plot so as to create obstacles for their relationships by making HSM a lot more heartless towards DX…
And also all this while novel HSM is a lot more aware of YanKe’s bad intention, she is decisive and just waiting, watching…but here the drama, they made YK a lot more powerful and he seems to be a lot more tricky for HSM to manage.

Yes, JBR’s acting is always very emerging to watch. Road Home can be a slow plot for some, but I really enjoyed it, it’s also the director’s attention to details and creating very good atmosphere for the relationship to progressively develops.
If you prefer thriller type, can try his other drama, ‘Regeneration’, his role is grey and the whole plot is very intense to watch too😍.
