Hahahah…exactly, DuanXu is calculative and smart, he knows his limits around He SiMu, and as a teenager at heart, he does have moments of impulsivity but he still does it cautiously and test his boundaries around He SiMu in a witty way. He doesn’t get into He SiMu’s way in the spiritual realm.
The first scene when he reached there, being hang up there and yet able to defend himself is also how he shows his capability being a mortal in a spiritual realm. He is never really impulsive.

But He SiMu is also the only one that will still come and rescue him😍.

Yup, hence I understand what they are doing here…👍🏻 great that the viewers can get that. As I saw some comments earlier about YanKe being in love with HSM and DX being a tag along and lacks his own ability to survive. DX is actually very observant and smart, and although he has no power, he still knows how to take care of himself.

These inner emotional struggles are nicely played out by Arthur, as in the novel, you hardly able to see all these.😍

I don’t think it’s that straightforward for HSM. Firstly, she never wanted the role/title, but for her longing to her parents, especially her father, she took it and carry the legacy of keeping balance to the spiritual realm. She longs to be mortal, to live and live normally but she never has those experiences because she lacks her senses. So she is technically truly starting to learn what is living like, after she met DuanXu.
This story is never a journey of just ML finding love with Ghost Queen, it’s actually more of FL’s journey to discover what she truly wants to live for. Life of immortality and power never gives her happiness and joy….

She allows herself to go into the illusion world and mix hers with DuanXu so that she can guide him out.

Yup absolutely, Duan Xu is special.

I don’t like it in the drama, on how they make JiangLi’s betrayal because of an unrequited love. DX went into the prison void by accident and not exactly tricked by JiangLi. The script makes YanKe so jealous, he is suppose to be powerful but also won’t be so lovebrain…these changes make the villian mediocre and comedic.
Going to spiritual world was partly He Si Mu’s idea, as it’s her gift to DuanXu and not because DuanXu pestered to tag along…thought this intention is also lost. He SiMu doesn’t mind Duan Xu and is also developing fondness in having him around. But I understand why the script is written this way, so to let the viewers see a more dramatic change in HSM’s feelings towards DX, but I still prefer the novel version.

This is an unpopular opinion because of my impression reading the novel…

In a way, but Yan Ke is also obsessed with power, so he doesn’t truly love HSM.

I don’t think she truly loves till she met Dian Xu.
