Hahahah…you are not yupping, you make very good points. Yiu are spot on about the observation of The Emperor. He is good at scheming person and towards his loyal subjects, he probably is always cautious, even towards the very loyal MuRong family, hence they are being treated that way. I think the Emperor married FSG’s mom while he was not Emperor yet, but after he was crowned, yip he has to make decision considering on the grand scale of things and obvious FSG’s mom is never and will never be prepared to be an Empress trapped in the Palace. One can say that the Emperor is selfish to make such decisions, but he had to in a name of protecting his own legacy, and he will also never trust the Zhuang’s family. It’s quite nicely written nuances in Palace political conflicts. So the Emperor chose to protect his Empire and not be a father. Sad but it’s something he had to do.

So true. He under-estimated FSG’s resemblance to his mother. This shows has been toying the theme of choice and the position one is born in. Example MuRong Yao, he is making that choice to rebel because he hates the Emperor. And FSG making a choice to always cherish his mom’s values and never become like his father. The Emperor is the ultimate loser.
