It was out of character for Xie Wu, who since the beginning has been so aware and sensitive to XZ and FCY’s relationship. I felt that scene was purely for comedic relief😅.

You are not alone, the writing fall short as it progresses. A lot of obvious plot holes surfaced after XZ returned to his camp, war starts then FCY came to camp and the final political arc. The director chooses to focus on beautiful scenes and CP but lost the plot🤷🏻‍♀️. But that’s just my opinion.
