I felt SYS first felt in love with MQG. Then when she became XRR, he tried to keep a distance but MQG’s quality in XRR again got him falling for her again. So although XRR is navie and feels different, there are elements of her characters that made him fallen😍. Other disciple won’t have that ability. Thats my take.
Then another novel reader mentioned that this two actually had another prior bond, destined to be in love, not sure this drama will follow exact.
