But also note that this is set in Tang Dynasty, and back then family and men authority is power, so it is realistic writing to show that she plan the scheme but needed another powerful man to help facilitate the process. The only unrealistic part is that she is fortunate to meet a man with power who wants to help her. A lot of women back then even with wits will still suffer in the hand of such unfair society practices.

My take is: SML is starting to qns whether ML can really protect FL, and he reflected in previous ep that if he had been more decisive to bring FL away, she wouldn’t have to suffer so much. So part of him properly feels that it’s good that FL has no more love feelings for ML, so she will unlikely sacrifice for him again. Maybe part of him felt the two will have no good ending as based on his premonition, so may as well be better this way.

I don’t think that clip is accurate. As of ep 16, there is no marriage. This is 40ep., as of most Xian Xia, if you have no patient, it’s going to be hard to watch XianXia. At least IMO, this drama is progressive and pacing is good, no drag. If you haven’t start, why would you hate and even checking this out???
